  1. The mood is universally one of love and adoration for the God King. the economy is suddenly booming, the dollar now outstrips the euro 10 to 1, Mexico has already begun constructing the wall on their own dime and boat loads of Slovenian whores are giving out free blowjobs on every corner! AMERICA IS GREAT AGAIN!

*all reports to the contrary are "fake news" spread by "loosers" who can not come to terms with the God King's alternative facts... a solution is being finalized as we speak.

  2. beats me. the front of that hunk is sealed, so its not any sort of launcher. the upper looks to be running off a conventional piston, so primary action is out. perhapse those funky new rounds need a seperate op-rod to shove them off the sled and into the chamber?

alternate theory, there's no side ejection port. assuming these newfangled rounds aren't completely consumed upon firing... that could be some type of forward ejection system. the lower patch of rail looks like it slides off, that could just be the port cover.

some sort of KRISS inspired recoil mitigation BS...

    alternate theories?

Seems there's some life left in the old LSAT program (Light Weight Small Arms Technology). funny thing is... their prototype isn't actually lighter, as they're apparently using the weight savings to increase projectile size and supposedly deliver "300% more energy downrange."

the interesting bit from a CP perspective is it seems for now the caseless ammunition dream is on hold while the telescoped ammunition upstart is ascendant. this means, hypothetically, we'll be seeing cartridges get shorter and fatter... potentially limiting magazine size, the upswing seems to be a turn towards higher energy projectiles. thoughts?

  4. yup, the winter war of 1939. The fins lost territory in the end, but they made the Russians pay for every inch in blood (one million Russian casualties according to Khruschev).

The M39 i snagged has a 1941 stamped barrel. the fins ground off the Russian stamping on the receiver, so I'm not sure exactly how old it is (some folks report getting pre-1900 receivers, making them "antiques")

photobucket is down at the moment, so here's a generic M39

  5. Good to know I should steer clear of the 64, had considered grabbing one since they're under $200, or one of the tokarev clones. My gun safe is starting to resemble the United nations at this point. Russia, poland, austria, Switzerland, Czechoslovokia, Yugoslavia...and my newest addition is from Finland (captured from the Russians during a war most people have never heard of). Will have to add pics once I clean it up.

  6. there's also the slight problem where steel plates deflect the incoming round, where as ceramic plates allow the round to burrow in and get absorbed more or less intact. either is better than a round in the vitals, but a deflected round to the neck or nuts is still going to make for a bad day ;)

that's why i paid the extra $50 and got some surplus SAPI's instead of AR500

  7. Well, it looks like I'll be the first one jumping ship :(

I was approached last night by old friend out of the blue to join their skype game. That plus two table top games is going to take up about all the time I can devote to gaming. It's too bad, I was looking forward to gaming with you guys again... maby next time.

    Stay chill Gatos B)

  8. its a good bet she knows a guy that knows a guy ;)

ID's won't be her primary hustle, but being corp born she probably still has ties on that side of the tracks... got to be an underpaid civil employee willing to make a few errant key strokes and bring a new person into existence.

are ya leaning towards the Korean or the Russian at this point? also curious the age range of your characters, I'm thinking mid 20's but that can swing 23-27 if necessary to line up some backstory.

  9. If there was some mention of post Corp war I must have missed it, but I can see your point that if we were running in a post nuke night city a non contact ground vehicle would be preferable.

Far as I know the advantages and disadvantages from this thread are still good to go, I'very been building under the assumption they were in play.

I'd say you're correct about being above the "gutterpunk " level. Atta is talking about having a shop and I'm talking about making moves with a street gang. Gutterpunk would be the 3 of us squatting in a burnt out building, mugging people for beer money and going into a standoff with only 4 rounds in the magazine because you spent the rest on smash. So yeah, a step above the gutter... but you know what they say: the higher you climb, the the further you have to fall ;)

I like the Russian cab driver idea, a good way to meet contacts and a good source of anonymous vehicles for runs... cabs all look the same, harder to put an APB out on one. Plus there's the Russian cyber, as subtle as a brick to the face but having that kind of superhuman strength can open up some fun tactical options, like kicking in walls and ripping doors off their hinges... sounds like fun :)

  10. Ahh, I had forgotten you can substitute the drive skill. Still, having seen an LCAC demonstration, all I can think of is the noise and wind that would put out. Seems like it would be the equivalent of "rolling coal" if you used one in the city... then again, the jet wash from harriers has thrown sailors overboard, but we hand wave the jet wash from AV's which should be even worse.

That said I'm still in the keep it simple camp. Van, hatchback or sedan and heavy tint on the windows.

  11. yo tiger, good to see you! i feel you with the whole life happens bit, been dealt a few kicks to the gut myself this week.

we could certainly use some competent "security", that's for sure. not sure there's much need for a dedicated ace wheelman, but a solo who's an above average driver would be awesome. as for the fanmaster, it requires a funky autogyro skill if memory serves, plus running on fans means it's going to kick up dust like nobody's business... not at all inconspicuous. I'd aim for something like a used fleet van, companies cycle through those every 3-5 years and sell them off cheap. also, with the power of magnetic signage your windowless rape van transform into whatever cover ID your heart desires. for myself, I'm planning to get her a slightly used hatchback like a VW golf, etc.

actually wraith, i just re-read that. do we each individually get a beater car or does the team collectively need to decide on just one vehicle?

if you envision your guy as being, or having been a pit fighter it's possible we can work my girl in as his manager/promoter. if you can afford a couple points in the teaching skill I'd be ever so grateful, seeing as improving her gang is a sort of long term project and having a guy around to show them which end of the gun makes the loud noise would be a huge help ;)

  12. wraith, you don't own the Night City Sourcebook? you should take a quick look around the net, because the Night City Sourcebook is rather easy to find ;)

assuming these values hold true in the dark future, here's some handy info graphics for how quickly a car looses value http://www.edmunds.com/car-buying/how-fast...nfographic.html

so it sounds like we could swing something that sold for $15k eb or less, assuming it's 5 years old, for example?

  13. yeah, they just struck me as the lovable underdogs with loads of untapped potential. not bat-shit crazy like the most of the other gangs, nor as delusional as the guardian gangs. just street punks banding together so they're harder to pick off.

  14. I'm wondering how far his scruples extend? I'm considering a fixer that does a bit of everything for the betterment of her gang. I've got the black queens in mind, from the NC sourcebook. Would he have issue working with those who deal in drugs, sex, thievery and some occasional violence? would he actively support such a motley crue of misfits?

  15. Never had a PC fixer? Wow, they're kind of essential! Do you have a copy of wildside, because I may want to use some of the options presented in it.

  16. I sent a pm but it doesn't show in my sent folder so I'll double up here. This week looks to be especially hectic for me and games are the last thing on my mind. I'll give you an update next week when I know more.

Also, I shy away from social media...but I may have a deralict account out there somewhere. Would take some digging.

  17. The great warrior poet Ice Cube posits that a day should be considered good if it does not require the use of the AK. Rejoice brothers and sisters, for what was once a box of metal scraps and plywood born in Radom has pushed back the stone and lives yet again! and Saint Kalashnikov looked down from the heavens, and saw that it was GOOD.

"when you absolutely, positively gots to kill every motherfucker in the room... accept no substitutes"

  18. are you thinking he's established and has his own shop, or more he's squatting and mcgyvering things to keep people's cyberlimbs working out of baling wire and duct tape?

crux of the question being, how desperate are our characters?
