  1. btw wisdom, when you do pick it up i'd recomend you snag a PC copy. if it were any other game I'd be a total Xbox fanboy about it, but you are going to want to screen cap the shit out of this game. seriously, there's a sourcebook in the making here. oh, and don't buy it from game stop, they're fucking with the PC version's packaging.

  2. well... wow! that was quite the experience. watching the ending credits now. loved every minute of it, lots of choices that have real consequences. been putting in ~12 a day for the past couple days, so it's easily a 40 hrs plus experience. did my first run through like hitman, killing everyone from the shadows. think next go round I'll go for the pacifist achievement and do zero body count. if you're on the fence, buy it, it rocks!

ps. never played the first one so i can't compare it, it's miles better than invisible war though.

    oh and spoiler, maybe?

if you stay to the end credits there's a short clip involving some guy named "bob" and people talking about the chimera virus. a reference to game one?

  3.

Then when it would have taken off on its own, they could have brought in the AltCults as complete sourcebooks as expansions to the system(in a way similar to the Hardwired and When Gravity Fails sourcebooks in CP2020), instead of two-page blurbs in the main book, it still would have been our choice on how we're supposed to play it. If we'd just want to play the basic game without any of the altcults, we could do so, or we could just bring some of them in.

the thing is, alt cults were central to what mike was trying to do (i think). it was mikes attempt to "fix" one of the inherent "flaws" of cyberpunk, wherein everyone is paranoid and amoral meaning they have no reason to trust each other or work with each other (and means games are likely to end in a huge backstab fest). it was a ham fisted way to go about it, but you can at least see what he was trying to accomplish and why he thought it needed to be mandatory.

  4. unfortunately with class i don't have the time to commit to another game at this time. perhaps if you guys are still running come June I'll jump in.

i know you guys intend to run this narratively with no GM, but you might want to consider asking the mods to grant one of you forum mod status just in case it becomes necessary to split up topics, close them, or otherwise clean things up at some point in the future. companero can probably hook you up

  5. what can i say, my leisure reading is usually military non-fiction or fiction written by operators. comp got on my case last year to catch up on my "required reading", but i gave up on it. necromancer was good, i just got busy. snow crash was just so annoying, dude took his job way to damn seriously in my opinion.

I've still got Mona Lisa on the shelf, is it worth a read?

  6. ok guys, I'm back to civilization and the land of a decent connection. DAMN, you guys posted a lot while i was away, gonna take me a week to read all that  ok, just need to work out some gear issues and I'll get posting.

as to the last discussion... if i only read about half of neuromancer, and the gave up after a chapter or 2 of snow crash, does that make me a bad person? (this representing the totality of my reading of CP literature)

  7. ok, so it's time for good news/bad news. the good news is I've finally settled on a character (after driving datadream crazy with my indecision for weeks now). I've added the writeup to reservoir dogs for you all to peruse and comment on. i still need to map out some gear and mods, but that should be complete this week.

bad news, however, is I'm trekking up to the mountains for a week starting Friday. the place I'm staying has absolutely shitty wifi, and posting by iphone is a pain (tiny damn keyboard), so i won't be able to start posting in game till October :( . but i am coming, it'll just take a little bit longer is all.

if anyone wants to work up some background feel free to contact me by PM. just keep in mind he's only been stateside 3 years, he's not the "best buddy" sort, and he refuses to meet clients face to face. this doesn't preclude any past interaction, it just means that past interaction would have to be in the vein of him hiring the other character to do work for him (then they're an employee, not a client :D ).

looking forward to gaming with you all
