  1. Neko looks at Rat his expression inquisitive. Rat looks back blank. Neko's face falls, movement upstairs, rapid but near-silent. There's an explosion and the pressure waves hits, it's mild, controlled. Instataneously dust flies into the safehouse from the stairway entrance.

    Juliet screams,

Neko's already in action his wily relexes giving him a slight edge, Rat takes a tiny moment longer to get into gear...

  2. The reception isn't perfect in the city but it's not bad a middle aged woman with a slight southern accent can be heard over the speaker. There's a flirty tone to her voice, she obviously regards Bloodbath with a fair bit of affection.

"Hey Sugah, now you tell me where you been and what I can do you for? Over."

  3. Ying raises one eyebrow at Shrap as if to say "Yeah - Right" but of course doesn't. She knows that Shrap is as good as honourary family, which both allows her a little slack with the techie, and draws a line which she'll never cross. It still doesn't stop her cheekily pocketing the $50 with no chance of Shrap seeing change, not that he'd be be expecting it anyway. Thumper and Bloodbath make out theres a pseudo "favourite-uncle" vibe going on. This is Shrap's neighbourhood and he's well known and well liked here.

In the safehouse Juliet stands on silently watching the confrontation, the TV mumbling unheard in the background, unsure of just how dangerous the situation is getting.

I try for a mix, myself.  I let my PCs do some cinematic stuff but I definitely draw the line at running at and flipping off walls and other such nonsense.  On the other hand, I do make the mods fairly realistic so they tend to declare fairly realistic actions unless it's a long shot anyway so they think they may as well go for the gusto and hope for the best.

    Mark(psycho)Phipps( HAHAHA! )

LOL, No I'd hope most folks don't allow folks to fly in a game of cyberpunk, unless of course it is in the net ;)

I get round that by being more lenient towards players who add more detail to their actions, either by increasing their chances of success or by not screwing them as badly when things go wrong (of course, if they're doing something obviously stupid then they only have themselves to blame!)

The only trouble I see with this is the old, jsut beause my character "DeathSolo" is a 19th Dan blackbelt in Ju-Jitsu, doesn't mean that I am. If I say "Deathsolo 'karate-chops' that guy on the back of the neck", that could be the extent of my "player" knowledge, it's up to the GM to interpret this and realise that this is as detailed as the player can make it, rather than penalising him for not using the correct term in the native Japanese, with a Tokyo accent rather than a Hokkaido one ;)

  6. I like to give a fairly balanced description of combat, and I think like most folks I tryto do it cinematicly. Movies that come to mind include Michae Mann's "Heat", and the movie "Predator 2" with the intense heat of summer in the city, and the slightly confused air of urban combat. I also try to describe combat in a level appropriate to the characters involved. For example, if I'm describing combat involving half decent Solos I tend to get a bit more anime/hong kong/matrix in the descriptions, mainly to try to emphasise speed of reaction, that sort of thing.

  7. Juliet jumps with shock. "I thought you went to get lunch?"

She giggles at Rat in her confusion resting her hand on his shoulder.

"I'll phone Shrap, I guess they'll all be back soon"

She redials her phone, with an appropriate number this time and asks the Techie to pick up some business papers if they pass a news-stand on the way home, and tells Shrap what the young Solo would like turning to Neko for confirmation as she does so.

  8. Freddy banters with Shrap for a while, the tongs seem to have been sorted out, business is ok again and so on. Shouting can be heard from the kitchen, along with the unmistakable "fizz" of stir frying.

Back at the safehouse Juliet pouts a little then says, as much to herself as to Neko, "I'll call him" And reaches for her phone.

Rat reaches for one of his trademark vibrating pockets and listens to Juliet's  requests for reading material to pass the time, a copy of "Business", todays "FT" and the like.

  9. The chinese restaurant is a fairly westernised affair, at the door the manager/maitre d' looks at the group and with no regard for attire (this is the lunch menu afterall) asks with the slightest trace of a chinese accent

    ,

    "Table for...?"

  10. Jeez, hmmm... a GM wouldn't lure characters away from that which they're trying to protect would he?!?!

    No seriously though,

I deleted a whole bunch of PMs and then suddenly thought I might have missed something in one of them, I know Bookwyrm has Ratrunning some net searches that the computers are having trouble completing, I just wanted to make sure I'd taken care of everyone's points before I moved on a bit.

    Oh and Phipps,

I have your mail and will chew throught stuff when I have long enough :)

  11. The game has slowed down somewhat at the moment, and I'm not sure if it's becasue I've missed someone's PM asking for information on something, or if I've upset the delicate feelings of my players or.. ;)

If you've sent me a PM/Email that I've not replied to (especially a PM) could you resend so I can try to pick the pace up a bit?

    Cheers guys:)

    Mon :)

  12. Juliet turns to Neko, the two of them alone in the apartment, she's already starting to feel the isolation.

"You think we could go out get some magazines? No probably not." She answers herself in the same breath. "You think Rat would mind picking up something to read on the way back? and an FT, I really should keep up with work"

  13. I love Deus-Ex, at times I actually feel that the shooting gets in the way of the adventure/story. There's a fun cloning/conspiracy thing going on which is pretty darn cyberpunk as well as a lot of the trust issues and especially the settings. Gorgeous visuals, especially for a game of that time.

Combat wise, the most cyberpunk aspect of it is when played on the "realistic" combat setting, it shows you that a firefight is not good clean fun and that a sniper rifle from 100 yards away is by far the best idea ;)

  14. I've never done that much "cross-over" stuff. The reason I've always like the CP system was the balance between play and paper.

There are enough attributes to keep thing fairly realistic but not too many that you had to calculate cross wind velocity and air viscosity before attempting to leap from one rooftop to the next.

True, I'd make changes if I was gonna overhaul the system but as it stands I don't know a system I actually prefer. The only one I like as much I think is the 2nd edition Star Wars game, it might not have been a perfect system, but it  suited the genre down to the ground.

  15. Shrap and the team out on the streets casually observe the  streets for the obvious parked cars that would accompany a standard stakeout, but turn up nothing, it's a typical midday in the Italian district of the city folks are just going on about their business.

Back in the basement safehouse Juliet switches the TV on trying to find something to watch and settles momentarily on a business program, she watches casually at first, and then becomes more fixated, tracking share prices on the markets.

  16. Pearing through the window of the Golden Gate, Thumper can't make out a buffet, but turns to Shrap in hope.

    The Techie replies,

"Menu only sorry, and I'm not sure about their seafood. China First used to do a buffet, you want we mosey on over?"

  17. The Golden Gate is the nearer of the two Chinese restaurants, it does take out and eat in. The choice is yours or you could mosey on a little further for the China First?

Back in the Safe-House Juliet kneels beside Neko and touches the back of his hand.

"We don't need those yet Neko", she smiles as she gets up and turns towards the kitchen, "you want a drink of water or...?" Her voice trails off vaguely. She's almost enjoying playing house.

  18. Juliet comes back into the room cradling a mug of hot coffee in her hands. The scent of it reaches you moments later.

It seems she's prepared for a wait in this situation, probably a result of having been brought up into the corporate lifestyle.

I am adding the Stat PSY: much like the Ianus games Power stat it deals w/ who the various things from the other side deal w/ you and such of how you deal w/ them.

    around 85 pts for stats.
65 points for skills, Only 2 at +6 and the rest none over +4, the idea is to diversify your characters abilities, considering that you never know just what will come in handy when facing a foe you have no base ability with.

I'm looking for character ages between 19-34, As with all character generation I ask for a good basis of your charcters history and just why they know how to do what they do. Be creative and you will be rewarded.

OK, I have to ask, and I'm not criticizing, just asking for verifiction.

85 character points spread over 10 stats?
