  1. Oh come on Wilphe, dont tell me you never got a laugh out of Barry Mckenzie, Its a clanger movie, and was rather ground breaking for its day. Just all the little puns and names that go into it. like the pilot of the "frogair" jet, mr escargo (sp?). And i think Barrys fobia with "continential sheilas" is just funny.

and in an interview with Barry Humpheries, he said the ideas for the third barry mckenzie movies eventually made crocodile dundee.

What did u think of Barry mckenzie wilphe?

  2. Hey ya Maverick welcome aboard.

Enjoy your stay, and please take not that all emergency exits have been welded shut for your added convienience.

Seen the trailer, and the ingame movies but not much more.

check out the Deus Ex 2 thread in Network 54

  3. In the paper today there were 5 pages devoted to saddam, and yet not a mention of who helped put him there, proli got censored out during editing.

Now that sadam is out of the way, maybe america can shift its focus back to bin laden and get him out of the too hard basket.

  4. ive noticed that not many people who have posted there desktops have icons strewn around them.

usually my desktop is chocka block with stuff, then when i cant find what i need i clean it up to the bear minimum and then let it build up again.

so are you all cleaning them up before taking screenshots or am i the only one who likes stuff on their desktop.

  5. Has anyone seen the Barry Mckenzie movies?

    The Adventures of Barry Mckenzie

    and

    Barry Mckenzie Holds his own.

I have the later and man its a clanger. Made in the 70's based of the bazza mckenzie comics, its a dead set scream. The poms cop flak left right and center, not to mention every other nationallity that isnt australian, and Barry and his aussie mates are always cracking a cold fosters. (beer)

I got the dvd last night and seen the movie the week before, and its great. Highly Recommended.

  6. Well its good that he has been caputred, but i have serious thoughts going through my mind as to what would happen if he started naming names. i mean surely a man of his position would have to have dirt on the oposition. and i just wonder if some "extremest group" would break him out and they would mysterously disapear.

But on the flip side i doubt it.

well be interesting to see how he dies when they give him the death sentence.

  7. Quote (Split @ Dec. 12 2003,17:25)
Congrats, Harry! Good one. Looks like you're rather good at what you're doing  :)

Thanks split, but i think i got the companys angle sussed out.

See they put 5 on casual 4 had been there for 3 months, and ive been there 4 but 3 months working there through the labour hire company. so they dont count.

The company breaks up for chrissy next friday and they were proli worried the casuals (who dont get public holiday pay or paid holidays) will go work somewhere else, and not come back, then they would have to train up new people, and we run a tight ship on one contract so we need to go hammer and tong. And by putting us on permanent gives us public holiday pay, hence a reason to stay.

But im not bad at what i do, but far from the best.

  8. My foreman came up to me today and asked if i would be interested in going permanent with the company "hell yeah" being my reply. then about an hour later he came with all the papers, then told me that im going permanent 2 months earlier than everyone else did. (as ive only been casual 1 month and not 3) So as of monday i start permanant.

i loose $5 per hour, but i gain paid holidays, pay on public holidays, sick days, job security (to a degree)

    So im laughing.

  9. Well there was an article in the paper, giving away more facts, but as usuall the company in question was unable to reply. And the union is still spitting chips. But short of that there back at work and its proli going to just get pushed under the magic carpet with a few pounds of salt rubbed into the wounds.

  10. I agree totally with unions. The workshop i work at is a non unionised shop, but i still pay into the union. And yes unions do make some bloody stupid calls at times, but then they do stand by the troops. I remember when we all had to chip in $5 a week towards a hardship fund for workers who were locked out of there jobs. Things like that are worth doing.

And yes your right public on a few things. and i meant no personal offence if any was taken.

  11. Ok thump, bit of clarification.

Being a temp/casual is not being a scab. When the company fires an employee, or tells them there is no more work, then hires someone to do his job at a lower rate or hires a foriegner to do his job, that is a scab. Causal/temp labour is good for the company as it gives them some leway and also means they can get some tax breaks from casual staff. So if your just a casual employee thump your not a scab. as you work for the company at the appropriate conditons. And if you are working there below the appropriate conditons the situation in your home land is vastly different to mine so im not going to hold any offence or black cards.

Ive been casual (and currently am causal) and on fixed term contracts. and thats situation normal because your only there to do your job while the work is on and that way they can tell you do have a week off while there is no work. Then get you back when they need you. Permanent casual is just that, where you work permanently for that company just on a casual basis (ie 3 days a week on a fexable roster or something, or for as long as the work is there then it gets flexable)

The only thing that p!sses us off is when they sack people then get the scabs in do do their job at a lower rate so the company can make more money.  Scabs are also people who go to work in a job when the workers have gone on strike. As in the case of our parts for our job, Also known as strike breakers. I know some people who have done it, and they now find it very hard to find work, because there name has been black listed.

I mean no offence to anyone on the board, as i know political and industiral issues are different all over the world.

  12. All the best Archangel, hope your chrissy/new year goes well. ont get to blotto, cause going in with a hang over isnt fun, especailly when they expect you to do rather loud jobs. (little experience shared there)

So yeah hope to catch you on the board in the new year.

  13. Ok, in my job we often have to have parts for the freight wagons manufactured outside at different workshops, as we are not geared up enough to do it our selves, nor do we have the labour. This week, thursday to be precise the place we get our bits from hired 4 Hungarians (sp?) on four year contracts, that just meet the award.

Now whats the problem your asking. Well according to the paper and a few other places this mob recently sacked casual boilermakers (yeah my brothers) and hired the hungarians. Now what really stires me up is theres talk of them not being tradesmen and i spent the best part of 2 days fixing all there shonky work, infact i reckon you guys on the board could do better than the efforts we recieved. Yes the parts were  really that bad, i could go as far as saying monkeys can weld better than their effort.

Later on today we were told that it was actually 20 (10 over 2 workshops) hungairians that were employed not 4 as per the papers report. The permanent labour went out on strike when they heard about what happened on the thursday, and were given a court order to return, they didnt and our parts are being held up.

Now what gets really on my goat is the fact that companys do stuff like this and wonder why the blokes arnt loyal or willing to do the hard yards. ITS JUST BLOODY WRONG

Now the point of this thread.

Does any stuff like this happen in your selected field of work?

and go as far as including strike breakers and things like that.

Also, no offence to any hungarians on the board, it is not aimed at hungarian people just stupid pr!cks who run big companies and want to save money by doing the aussie boilermaker out of a job.

  14. Also take note on ram, some mother boards will only run with double sided ram (where the chips are soldered onto both sides of the ram chip) where as new ram is single sided (and apparently a nano second quicker) so perhaps that may need to be looked into.

I know this from experience as my local computer guru has run me up asking for 128mb of ram from my computer for a clean swap for 128mb of brand crankin new single sided stuff as he has ran into a mobo that only likes the double sided stuff.

  15. What ever you think is a fair deal. There will be no specific requirments or anything. and a good spread of skills across the crew would make for a good game.

If i had my own fourm thing there would be a characters thread for everyone to discuss in.

But to give a bit more away about the plot (im trying to keep some atmoshpere and excitement, dunno if its working or not. but hey this is like the first propper official game ive ever run)

the mission will involve wacking, and finding and not always in that order.
