  1. I think we should probably have a "things you need to know about in VftE backstory" list,

    Currently I can think of:

    Spudfairy (Who predates me)

Darthmurph (Who anyone who joined recently will be unaware of)

    Dana

The brief, yet amusing insurgency at EnWorld

    http://vfte.cyberpunk.co.uk/index.php?show...=290&hl=enworld

Why it's called the Phipps club.

    The NoD thread

    Anything else to add?

  2. Oz takes the first opportunity he can to go see Jen, which will probably be after the cops have finished with him (and her).

"Yeah, kinda sorry bout your truck. But at least you will get it back, so they say," he looks down at his overalls, "Can I freshen up in the garage and scrounge some new threads and I'll tell you all about it."

Also, before the cops finish with him, "Er, sir? Is there a crime number or something I can have? I'm going to have to get these things cleaned and it'd save all round effort if I just refer the cleaners to you so they don't ask why I'm covered in blood?"

    Notes to self:

Ditch the mace ASAP, don't want a cop recognizing it.

Get rid of of that gun when it comes back - it's ok for self-defence but it's useless for "work" now

  3. Update due:

Sinergy still ticks over, last session going very well despite the ref team loosing all their notes before the session.

    The highlights of recent sessions:

    The IC theological discussion

Dealing the fact that about half the player base had taken the opportunity of disabling the child-like genetic construct's gun.

"Nice gun, Cinder can I take a look?"

    "Yeah"

    "Thanks," <swap, swap>

By the end of the session it had been sabotaged twice and about 5 empty magazines had been swapped for, um, other empty magazines...

Violence has conseqeunces again - so the three PCs who committed blatent public murder in the last session are respectively: On the run; arrested and then on the run; stunned by C-SWAT and promptly escaped because we only took half his guns, and on the run...

The Bounty Office works again - so there's no 15,000cr bounty on goldfish anymore...

  4. "Sir, oh, yeah, and while I'm trying to fix the guy up Andy takes a look under the truck and reckons he sees a bomb there. So I have to up and drag this guy out of the way and that's when you turn up."

  5. Oz's hands move skywards with enough speed to indicate compliance, but not so much it looks like the precurser to a hostile act. "Don't do anything stupid Andy," he raises his voice to be heard over the chopper, "Hey Officers! There's a wounded man over here and we think there's a bomb on the truck."

His statement goes something like this: "Well sir, I was on my night off and just on my war back here when I saw someone moving under the truck there. They didn't have any lights or nothing, which was odd as we've a garage right here so if they had a legit reason to be under there they could easily have got one."

"I walk up to the guy nice as pie and ask him what the problem is, and all the while I know it ain't his truck and that Jen, that's the owner sir, well she don't like anmyone but her messing with it. I also know that someone's got some sort of beef against the cab company recently. And what do I see as I'm talking to the guy?"

"A huge red freaking red dot trying to pick me up! That's what sir! So now I know there's something funny going on. Anyway sir, I walk down the side of the vehicle to get away from the dot and as I crouch down and ask the guy to stay where he is I hear him whisper "Do him, do him" and the guy starts scrabbling and moving around."

"It's real dark down there sir and I couldn't see anything much but it seems like he's going for a weapon so I shoot the guy twice. Guess I must have shot low or something because I only got him in the legs."

"Anyway, sir, the next thing is that someone opens up on the lot. I suppose it was the guy with the laser sight and his mates. Anyway they don't hit no one and they make off in an SUV. Some sort of rifle and a pistol or two I think sir. I was too busy taking shelter to get a good look."

"Anyway I go look at they guy I've shot and see that he currently ain't no threat to nobody. So I ask Andy and Karl to get me a first aid kit and get hold of Jen and I try and stop the guy from dying. It ain't up to me to decide what happens to him and I figure you'll want to talk him."

"Hey, gee officer, can I phone my friends? They'll be wondering what happened to me. Thank you sir."

    OOC:

That appears to be largely truthful, however:

Stuff he's not mentioning unless asked:

    His car

That he got his gun out when he saw the guy there.

Stuff he's empthasizing if he gets the chance:

That Apple have been getting hassle recently including one guy in hosptial

That he's been trying to put the guy back together.

    and:

You can't say "sir" or "ma'am" too many times.

  6. Kea nudges the OTV out of the comet's somewhat minimal gravity and not letting the radiation warning bother him unduly, flips the engines into a short burn to get the vessal gently coasting back to the Santa Maria.

OOC: Depends on range, relative speeds and fuel and air capacity - but he isn't in any hurry whatsoever,

  7. "Well that would be just great, our evening wouldn't be complete otherwise. If is is, and given that this guy and his friends appear to have a zero tolerance for professionalism or competence I wouldn't want to be near it at all," Oz finishes tying off the cord and none to gently drags the guy down and away from Jen's truck towards the garage- hopefully ensuring that no more of his entrails fall out in the process.

"Don't touch it, it might be motion sensitive, it might be timed, in either case that might not matter a damn because cretin boy here made it and I don't think his quality control is A1"

  8. "Okay mates, we're on our way back, this had better be enough because I don't think we are going to get another chance. If there's water floating around the docking bay I hope it will sucked in with the air when it gets de-pressurized for us to come back," he pauses, "Of course if it jams the system we are really screwed. Water doesn't compress very well*."

"There should be a system for dealing with liquid spillage in zero-G somewhere aboard - otherwise we'd have had no way of clearing up if the gravity failed. If the records are corrupt the galley might be a good place to start?"

    OOC:

*Well, at all really, that's that understatement thing you've heard so much about...

  9. Oz keeps his voice calm, like everyday he talks into a 'phone with no free hands with a car horn honking in the background and his hands deep in some guys insides, "Jen, it's me, Oz. Sorry to ruin your night off, but I found some guy under your truck who was out to ruin it even more. Think you may want to pop back here sharpish."

He raises his eyes to the mechanic with the rope, "Thanks," he goes to his pockets then realizes his knife was in the car, "Screw it. He's bleeding out of his thigh, not his belly. If I can stop that," he props the guys ankle up on the first aid box, finds the hole in the guys jeans and rips them open to the crotch, "We may just have a live witness," he begins wrapping the cord as tightly as possible round the top of the guy's thigh.

  10. OOC:

Can't do nothing about the fuzz really. He'd far rather deal with them now with an aura of "concerned citizen" around him and when he's ready, than have them come looking for him - which could really screw something up.

  11. "Thanks, dah," Oz takes time out from looking at Gut-In-Dirt to take the phone and dial out to Jen. He clamps the 'phone behind his ear and reaches for the med kit, opening it and looking for a pad, lint, anything to put in the wound to staunch the flow.

  12. "Fuck, fuck, fuck"

Oz strips off his coat and gun and throws them over the bonnet of a nearby car. This guy isn't going anywhere, but having him die right now, right here would be needlessly complicating and possibly embarassing.

"You know the trouble we've been getting recently? Well I found this guy under Jen's truck," he rolls the guy onto his side, with his wounded thigh uppermost, "In the dark, with some tools. He didn't like me interfering with his work and his mates didn't either. You got a handkerchief or tie or something? I need to stop this guy bleeding to death."

He looks for the wound, wondering whether he should put a torniqet on or just try and plug it.

"God damn alarms. You got a number for Jen? Dispatch should have one, I'm a bit tied up right now.

    OOC:

And this is why you should always take First Aid...

Oz is not bailing on the grounds that:

    1) The police know that Apple having getting hassle recently and they now have a lead

    2) He has a reasonable self defence claim.

    3) The PD are quite likely to have a total lack of any sympathy for this guy or his mates.

    4) Running makes it look like he has something to hide

  13. Oz slowly turns to the mechanic with the revolver, taking care to do nothing threatening and holding his hands out from his body. As recognition, hopefully, creeps over the mechanics face he discovers he has to raise his voice to be heard over the alarms, "We're cool. It's me, get Jen. And a first aid kit."

He turns back to the guy on the floor, kicks the knife a few feet out of the way and then keeps his gun trained on the guy whilst slowly rolling him onto his back with his left foot.

  14. <Didn't get the licence>

<Like it was their car anyway>

    <Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck>

Oz stands and takes a good look at the guy from where he is. Is he alive? Is he conscious? Has he just bought himself a one way ticket to a new carear as a Long John Silver impersonator? And, most important of all.

Is he pointing a gun at me?

  15. Oz spends a few moments sheltering behind the tires, "Jen's going to be pissed that her truck got shot up, of course she might also appreciate not being in it when the brakes failed or whatever else Joe One Leg there had in mind for her". He then half crouchs half crawls along behind the truck, looking to find a better position over than the one he just went to ground in.

    OOC:

Preferably he wants to move nearer the street, but still under cover - behind vehicles parked parallel to Jennifers - the end one if he can get to it. If hers is the end vehicle he'll just move to the other end fot he truck

    OOC PS:

He'll spread the news in due course, it's not like you either of them can do anything, "Gee I'd better ask for help from the two guys whose guns I've got "

  16. <Car alarm going off? Good>

<No one pays attention to those bloody things anyway, couldn't think of a better way to get this ignored>

Speaking or shouting now rendered largely irrelvent, Oz crouches to the end of the truck and shelters behind the wheel to take a quick survey of the situation with particular reference to anyone coming out of the garage who might get their head blown off by caffeine freak red dot boy. He'll keep an eye out to see if the guy he shot is making a break for it though.
