    That's not the point, Whilphe.

The point is: why do you use sub freighters, if regular ships are much, much cheaper?

I'm not saying it is necessarily putting them to best use, but it is possible.

The other great advantage of being underwater (and a timely reminder that the world does not revolve around edgerunners and ways to counter them), is that you are out away from wind and weather so your passage is unimpeded and almost totally predictable. Given that you are probably making transcontientl

Besides, if you rely on transhipment across Western Europe then you are royally screwed if you come into conflict with them...

In any case the mean depth of the Baltic is 55m with a max of 459m

So say the Estonians, that might not be a lot in Ocean terms but it is certainly enough to dive out of the swell.

    Well... my few pennies:

    1. Sorry, no sub terminal at Swinoujscie. AFAIK cargo subs are about the size of boomers, and Baltic Sea is too small and shallow for such. For military applications minisubs or small subs (like Norwegian Necken-class) are considered the only choice. Any cargo sub here would be a sitting duck.

Boomers should certainly be able to dock and off load at any port that can take them, they just won't be able to submerge (much) until they get out of the Belts.

A Typhoon sized sub is 170m long by 25m wide and draws roughly 12.5m of water.

That is very roughly akin to the largest container ships that'll fit through the Panama Cannal (so called Panamax vessals) which can't be wider than about 35, so as to fit in the locks.

The largest container vessals IRl are about:

    300 x 40m and drawing 13.5m of water.

That doesn't sound like a big differnce in size, but efficiency is based on volume, which goes up cubically - this is why super tankers are so very, very big...

  3. "Either of you two gentlemen have much proficiency as a paramedic or field surgeon? If not I suggest we split the medical supplies three ways as they are. I imagine we'll chiefly get to use it in evac and not on the op. I imagine our charges may not be in tip top condition all things considered. Now might be a good time to express our preferences should we need to be left behind."
  4. Oz is already gone, heading back towards the car and keeping his eyes open for anymore of Sykler's friends or any little tricks they may be playing.

<Hopefully I won't be there when Skyler and Porter decide to double-cross each other>

  5. OOC:

I take it that the police will respond to the sound of an assault rifle being emptied, so the clock is ticking here...

    IC:

Whoever that is in the car they aren't going anywhere. Oz snicks a full magazine into the Avenger and starts downstairs. Get the proof, get anything that looks valuable if you can and scram.

"Are we clear?" he says to first person he sees. To Skyler, "Is that your hired help out der wid der Kalashnikova, or we got a third person tak'n this job?".

Hopefully the answer is yes, in which case:

"I'll go get the car. We are gonna haveta get outa here fast." I believe he is carrying the camera, in which case he will give it to Porter. If he sees anything especially valuable and portable looking on his way down he'll take it with him.

Unless Porter has radical objections he'll head off, at a fair clip but keeping his eyes open for trouble.

  6. If Oz recognizes the model of the car and can remember the layout under the hood then he'll shoot up the engine compartment and try and hit something vital*. If nothing seems good then he will just empty his pistol into the roof above the driver

*or to go way back to the beginning... Where is the air-bag sensor on this thing?

  7. Well I:

    Lost a grand playing poker

Was shot by own gun, several times

Had a few laughs at other PCs expense

Let an armed nuke go AWOL

And was caught in the middle of a bio-plague

Just an average night out really...

  8. Fawcett drinks his milk and ponders his rather rare steak thoughtfully, "Strength, equipment and capabilities of opposing forces? Does this place have some sort of arrangement with the local PD or is it in a no-go zone? Does Xia have any guards of his own?"

He pauses, "I presume that the clientele of this establishment are invariably rich and probably well connected yes? Do you have a preference as to what happens to them when we go in?"

  9. The rumble reminds him of Bolivia and he sniffs the air reflexivly, but smells only the sterile smell of the air-conditioning.

<There is no life here, no nature. Only humans, living like rats in a lab>

    <If you call that living>

He looks at the ads from the car with the expression of somebody who has never thought that they might influence his buying decisions -he may even be right.

A tall, greying distingushed looking middle aged man enters the meeting room. He looks about himself at the scene before him and then settles into the chair, before fixing his escort with a look, "You said something about food?"
