  1. Counter Snipers are a usual. "So I hear" wink.gif and VERY effective at bagging the opposing black ops team:)

    As is satellite surveillance.

Jackie has described most of the usual ploys smile.gif Especially the several target scenario. E.g. Have several body doubles all travelling in different limos in 2 separate convoys whereby the real target slipped out the back entrance unescorted in a 2014 Toyo-Chevy subcompact. Or left two days ago for Singapore by Delta:)

Another cool thing to do to your PCs would be to have their patron, Militech, set them up as the decoy, so that the Arasaka goons already know where they are and what they are doing and hunt them down turning the game into a retreat and regroup maybe going after the Militech executive who set them up instead of the Arasaka exec they originally had to retire. Whilst the REAL assassin is the trusted driver of the target's limo, whose family has been extracted as "negotiating leverage" in order to acquire the driver's co-operation in this little matter:)

Another thing to do would be to have Arasaka change plans on them so that you can have the PCs have to change their tactics on the spot and maybe instead of sniping from a roof top they now have to enter the Arasaka building using stealth and guile instead of a 20mm discarding sabot slug:)

If you want to stick to the original plan, then there's lots of scope for investigative tasks, netrunning to find the route the limo will take or the target's day schedule so the PCs get to the right place at the right time. Good role-play can come from the need to streetdeal to get a boostergang run as decoys for them, or have a nomad family provide them with a getaway and cover for afterwards.

The other thing that you might want to do is to have the PCs consider their own role within “the Machine” and maybe have then decide to dig a little deeper as to “WHY” they have to assassinate this target, and then take things from there. This maybe the more ‘punk thing to do?

  2. I have a campaign ready to roll, if anyone wants to either play, or has a space in their group for a MonSTeR (I promise not to eat the PCs wink.gif  )  gimme a shout smile.gif  As many of you know I'm east midlands based:) So Derby, Nottingham, Chesterfield area smile.gif

  4. To be really obvious, have them see their new adversary. Follow the glinting lens to the top of a huge sniper rifle, the MIB won't fire yet, cos it's not time to. Have the PCs arrested and let them notice the MIB in question chatting to the chief of police or whatever.

Or if you want to be really cruel, have the pcs wake up, each on their own, naked in an alley or on the docks or whatever, with no memory of the last 3 days, heads shaved and a newly forming scar at the base of the neck.

Or go the whole hog, and have the MIB confront the PCs directly, humiliate the groups toughest Solo (maybe kneecap him, or cut out an eye, snap his wolvers, whatever) then leave, vanishing without a trace. Uttering a "see you around!" or similar before he departs:)

However I personally think that the more powerful the opponent the less likely the PCs are to have any idea that he's on to them until it's too late.

  5. Lots of pointless awareness checks are a start, the players will start to wonder why?

Or noticing of "shadows" on rooftops, or glinting of lenses in the daytime. Random laser spots? Scuffling feet behind nearby walls, sudden gusts of wind. Another one to note on an awareness check is eerie silence, no birds singing (indicates animal type predator) no traffic noise (indicates roads closed off)

Another thing that is good, is recurrent vehicular sightings, black helos, Black 4x4 jeep things (chevy suburbans) Big high sided vans just big enough to hold a cov-ops team parked down the street. These when noticed, should hang around just long enough to get the characters interest then leave, vanshing without trace

Or for mild paranoia, TV's left on/ off in the apartment. Have the fridge door left open, Cushions on the sofa the other way around. Or ransack the place completely.

Have strangers bump into them in the street as they walk for the morning paper.

One good thing is to keep the harassment up in all places, streets bars, their own homes etc.

Hope some of these are some help :)

  6. I tend to go with a heavy pistol and a light armour jacket for most characters. A solo may even own a SMG or and assault rifle. It's not about the money here it's about control and the situation. Y'know how much easier it is to not get harassed by cops etc when you've got no obvious weaponry and you're wearing a nice suit that just happens to be an armorjack as well:)

  7. I already posted on the Rtal site in support of Hound smile.gif

every time you click the add banners for him and here for cyberjunk, you're USING "the man" to pay for our hobby. I'd rather Amazon or MBNA  or Pricerunner or CDNOW or whoever pay for the sites I visit than have the webmasters have to pay for it themselves.

Using "the man" rather than being used BY him is a quintisential part of the cyberpunk ethic, so CLICK THOSE BANNERS NOW!!!

Just wanted to gice Cyberjunk GREAT credit for this site, aspeciall for the new Forum system.

Layout and looks is just perfect but there´s one thing I´m asking myself: Where´s the people that used to be here? For me it seems like some of the people that used to be here is less active than before... Why? On the other hand, I haven´t been here that much to say such a thing. But  I haven´t seen Monster around, and when you don´t see Monster (or smells him) then it´s something seriosly wrong with the picture. So people, show yourself. I´d like to see all new faces and all old faces here on this topic... Get over here.

I'm around, but not nearly as much as I used to be nor as much as I'd like:( I've posted on the Rtal boards a little bit too lately. I'm kinda on sabatical writing a campaign that I hope will one day see the light of day (or dark of night)

  9. Personally as long as stuff is creditted to it's original author and is reproduced without objection, (I don't like to see the theft of intellectual property) I'm just glad that there are sites out there trying to keep what I see as a dying game alive. So I guess I'm in favour of archive sites.
