  1. Well put, Joe. cool.gif

The Chunnel was shut down in 2015 when Europe closed its borders because of the virus, and what with the subsequent troubles it never got reopened. The physical hardware is still there and it would be theoretically possible to use it, but noone's running any trains and both sides are guarded by the respective armies.

  2. I've always thought of TECH as being about your ability to understand systems rather than manipulation.

For example, take Pick Lock. Although you use manipulation to move the picks within the lock, it's actually your understanding of how the cylinders within the lock move that allows you to open it.

Part of the problem is that some skills are under the wrong stat. Programming should be under TECH, as should most, if not all, sciences. Play Instrument and Pick Pocket should be elsewhere*.

*Of course, I'm too lazy to re-write any of this.

  3. But even if you wear 20000$ suits and get your hair done by the best hairdresser in the world your still gonna look bad without the W/S to back it up.

No, you're going to look good because you're taking advantage (and paying for) someone elses high W/S and PG skills. Of corse, you'll have to go back if you want to look good tomorrow as well.

A low attr high W/S is well dressed and good looking, but once the makeup comes off their the beast, not the beauty.

    Jack Nicholson, high seduction too.

think back to Madonnas first couple of years, when she practically spearheaded some wierd gutter trash chick movement, wild hair, torn stockings, fishnet gloves, microskirt, and plastic belly shirt. It would half to take some kinda crazy skill to put some shit like that together and not only make it work, but set a trend emulated by every 12-25 year old girl on three continents

Madonna - high W/S. If we tried it it'd look like we dressed in the dark.

  4. Wardrobe/Style & Personal Grooming are skills that I only really enforce by their absence because people don't notice when you have them, only when you don't.

No W/S? Then you're the geeky looking guy (and not in a good way). Or you're the guy who'll turn up for a date wearing an unironed shirt with foodstains on simply because it was the cleanest thing to hand. Or You're the sort of person who gets dressed up by putting on their other jumper. You probably have no friends.

No PG? Then you're the guy who forgets to shower for a month. Or you're the guy who keeps people at arms length because you've forgotten to brush your teeth (again). You're the guy who everyone stands upwind of. You definitely have no friends.

Sidenote: I do a similar thing with Education/Gen. Know. - no skill means no reading and only basic maths. Maybe you want to get a friend to look over that contract for you?

Personally and honestly, I wouldn't know whom to spend N.O.D with cos I'm really uncomfortable around people. (That's right, I'm anti-social)

Then spend it with yourself. As Woody Allen said, it's sex with someone you love. biggrin.gif

  6. QUOTE (senior officer Mikael van Atta @ Mar 17 2004, 10:16 PM)
as it is said "je?li nie wolno, to szybko" (hard to translate - "If not slow [the same sound is for word "allowed"] then quick!"

I think the equivalent phrase in English might be " There's more than one way to skin a cat."

This idea that I've had. You go into the major city of your environment, in my case stockholm, and get off the subway, undress and start walking through town with no clothes on whatsoever.
See how long it will take before the police start bothering you.

You would get a lot of press attention.

I would get told to put my clothes back on. :D

  8. It's great.  I actually started using it after it was mentioned on this board a couple of years back and I've not regretted it.

Since I've not used any of the Netscape/Mozilla browsers, if AOL is 1, and IE is a default 5, then Opera is 8.5.  It's free (although you can pay to get rid of the banner ads), has tabbed browsing, blocks pop-ups, has a google search box on the tool bar, is fast, reasonably small and has some great little features like mouse gestures (eg if you right click and hold then left click it takes you back a page) and a paste and go option in the right click menu.

The only problem with it is that, although you can get it to present itself as IE, it occasionally has trouble with some pages that are formatted for IE, but I've found that with the AOL browser as well (which uses IE as it's core).

So to sum up, it's good and it's free.  Try itout, if you're not impressed you can always go back.
