  1. Night City works as 'a' place to put things and it should help to give the project some definition, but I think that as long as you avoid doing things that are exclusively linked to Night City then everything should be transferable to any city, anywhere, whether it is Vancouver, Brisbane or London.

  2. Famous at last!!!

But seriously, are you just going to be covering the same ground in the 2nd ed. version?  I'm asking because I was going to put the armed combat tutorial in a new bit dealing with Dawn's little job.  If you're not going past act 7 then I'll probably sketch it out, otherwise I'll hang fire on it.

    PS thanks for the credit!

  3. I thought that DU and tungsten were used for their hardness, not their weight.  Harder material = less flattening on impact = better armour penetration.  Also the range would drop off drastically for my railgun since the projectile weighs less than half a gram.

  4. Okay, the melee combat is as follows.

Play the face off with the corp as I described, then continue it as follows -

    1.  If they scare him off then see 3.

    2.  If they calm him down he says "A couple of guys are chasing me, I'll give you 200 euro to scare 'em off of my back.  Whaddayasay?"  If they decline then he runs off (see 3.), if they accept then he stands behind them (goto 3.)

    3.  A couple of punks run round the corner and attack the players.  If the players are losing badly then have Tom return to give a helping hand.

    How's that then?

I'll try to work something up for an armed combat soon.

  5. Thanks for the compliment, Thorn.  That was a good point you made about the combat, I must admit I was primarily talking of introducing the mechanics of combat in character creation rather than running through an example of it.

So having thought about it, I would change my suggestion to include two examples of combat, one melee/unarmed, and one armed.  I will post them when I have worked them out.

  6. I think the best area to develop is not Night City itself but the surrounding combat zones.  In every game I have played in NC, we spent most of our time there as that was where all the money and fun were.  I tend to regard NC as being like a walled town, when you go there you're on your best behaviour, but you don't need to be tooled up as it's pretty safe (it is policed after all).

  7. The original thought was to design a really big nailgun, and the projectile is pretty much the same as a nail, so travelling at over 2000 m/s I would have thought it would still have been pretty impressive against hard armour.  If you dont like that then change the damage to 5D6AP.

The whole thing was designed using 3G3, so the range should be about right, although the damage is a bit low.

yeah, i just can't seem to pin down my avatar. CD was ok cos, well, he's an aussie icon, but really. This one's supposed to be a "Bone Dragon". But it looks more like a t-rex to me. My avatar will probably change a couple more times today.

Looks more like a dead parrot.

People with a lower IQ tend to have more children than those with a high IQ, due to career choices and so on. Now if potential intelligence is determined by the genes (and I believe it is) then as a species we are actively increasing the frequency of the low-intelligence alleles in the gene pool, and therefore lowering the average intelligence of mankind as a whole. No other species does this.

Sorry, but I am going to have to correct you on this one as well.

Firstly, you are confusing intelligence with IQ.  They are not the same thing.  IQ tests don't actually test for intelligence but rather your ability to do certain tasks which don't constitute the whole of intelligence.  Pretty much the only things IQ tests test for is your ability to do IQ tests.  If you doubt this just look at the way you can significantly improve your score by practicing.

Secondly, IQ scores are based on a score of 100 being the average score.  So it is impossible to reduce it because whatever the average IQ score is, it will always be 100.

    Sorry to be so pedantic.wink.gif

  10. Lets face it, SMG's wont go out of style as long as it is much easier to get hold of them than it is sub-carbines.

In the games that I run the players have to buy licences for their weapons, and it is much easier to get a licence for a weapon firing pistol ammo than it is for one firing rifle ammo.  They could risk it, but they know that when (not if) they get stopped and searched by the police they will be explaining why they have an unlicenced weapon in the back of a police van.

  11. I always thought that 'round off' meant the same as 'round nearest', not 'round down'.  Even so, that would still be 15cm of armour which I think is impressive.

Oh, and the damage should be 3D10+1AP.

And it comes with a 100m extension cable for hooking into vehicles or building supplies.
