Quote from BaronSamedi, posted on Sep. 06 2001,16:49
My favourite is doing something that blatently breaks the game rules and when they call me on it, I just look at them and say "Yes, you're right. Interesting that, isn't it?"
I like the idea but I've played with too many rules lawyers. I'd strangle myself after the hour long argument.
I actually started doing this to get round rules lawyers. The idea is that they're not running the adventure so they can't know everything that is going on, so they can't argue that it didn't happen, only that it shouldn't have. Them wondering what I've got up my sleeve is what makes them paranoid.

BWSS
in Corporates

I'll do an update soon, fleshing it out (building, vehicle, resources, etc.)

I know, but I once had a party going on a wilderness trek who only took guns, ammo and armour. They were not happy bunnies by the end.
I'll look at doing something like that next.

BWSS
in Corporates
I don't know if this should be here but it's not really a shop or a corporation, it's more like a limited company.
Black Wolf Security Services
BWSS was started by 'Mad' Bob Thornton, and is a classic example of a street gang gone legitimate. Originally called the Black Wolves, each member was implanted with the gang's trademark black wolvers, and they marked their territory by defacing buildings with said wolvers. As a gang they mainly made money from providing protection to various local businesses and clubs and bodyguarding jobs. Bob decided to take the gang legitimate when he realised that other security firms were doing much the same as they were without getting busted by the cops every week. Although local businesses were somewhat skeptical at first, BWSS has proved itself over the last three years to be a reliable service, employing 30 people (at least six of which are always ready to respond to emergencies)
The services BWSS provides are
bodyguarding (per guard)
75eb/day or
10eb/hour
plus expenses
money collection
100eb/week
BWSS also charges each local resident 10eb/week for 'community policing' (usually referred to as the justice tax) on a voluntary basis. This covers such things as keeping gangs and scam artists out, dealing with fights, and settling complaints and disputes. Justice is summary and on the lines of an eye for an eye. No resident has to pay the justice tax, but those who don't have their pictures posted in the area and are fair game for anyone.
Be Warned - all the Black Wolves grew up in this area and so know who is local. Also, most kids in the area make pocketmoney off the fact that Bob pays well for information, and a lot of them want to become Wolves when they grow up.
Potential Wolves have to be known and recommended by at least two current members. They then undergo a series of tough physical tests to make sure they meet the minimum requirements. These are
REF 7
BOD 7
Pistol or
SMG 4
Dodge 3
Aware 3
Martial Arts,
Brawling or
Melee 3
If they pass they get their black wolvers (700eb) and +1 training in each skill.

"We don't need to eat, we have guns!!!"

Wow, that's spookily close to what I'm doing, especially with the machine shop and firing range in the basement. It'll be interesting to see the differences.

And always, always wear a faint smile, all the time.

I like you. but then, I like everyone (must be the happy pills).

They would have to heal damn fast, you only have something like three minutes before braindeath sets in, which still leaves Wolvie clutching his ankles.
Besides, I think it would be more like Deathrace 2000, with a camp full of replacements all training to be Wolvie when he dies.
-
The rulebook says that they are "about the size of a paperback book, is made of plastic and weighs about a half-kilogram" (p123).
As for how they look, well the ones in the games I run fall into two catagories. They either have lots of buttons, switches, sliders, dials and readouts or they just have an on switch discretely hidden round the back.

And how would damage to the frontal lobes affect a superhero??
Besides, if he took damage to whatever bit of the brain controls the autonomic nervous system then he's pretty much bent over and taking it firmly from the rear.

So you take out his eye and the bullet stops harmlessly against the back of his eye socket
The eye'll grow back by next month's issue (due to the totipotentiality of his cells which may mean that "yes" he can regenerate brain tissue) and he'll be after the sniper for payback.
I think it's actually cartilage at the back of the eye socket, but either way there has to be a hole for the optic nerve to go through, so it's possible (and I'm sure there are rounds out there that would help).
Secondly, I thought that Wolvie's healing ability was just hyper-accelerated, but you can't heal brain damage so it wouldn't matter how much faster he healed because he would still be incapable of growing a new brain. So I still think he would be flat on his back in the morgue.
-
By the way, has anyone ever read Marshall Law?
-
Not that hard really, get a sniper to put a bullet through his eye socket - can he do the impossible and regenerate brain tissue?
-
Have you seen my portable railgun?
-
So what did you end up running, Dementi?

Thanks for the heads up, Snowtiger, it's a great system. I made a bog standard 9mm pistol in just under 2 mins. By comparison this would take me over 30 mins with 3G3.
I've needed something like this for a while because I like the hardwired idea of everyone using desktop engineering programmes to design their own guns, but it's far too fiddly to do this with 3G3. Mind you, 3G3 comes into it's own if you want to tweak a custom design to get the most out of it (including designing unique custom loads and altering barrel lengths).
Much kudos to Blackhammer and Flipper.

Two possible encounters for what I mentioned
1. A gang is willing to lend or sell him a car. What he doesn't know is that it was recently used in a drive-by shooting and the police are looking for it...
2. He gets pestered/stalked by an obsessive fan - who thinks the PC is someone else.
-
You could have him booked in for a really important gig across town in the middle of a transport strike. He then has to beg, borrow or steal vehicles to try to get across town in time for his opening number.
-
Yes, but they missed the point. The only reason to put an inbred fool back on the throne is to kill them. This is the bit they forgot to do.
-
I've seen both, the subtitled version is better in my opinion, but I normally prefer subtitles anyway.
-
But without Wolvie's super-healing you would succumb to septicemia as the flesh on your knucles turned gangrenous from being repeatedly mashed against walls!
-
I thought Draconis just did? Or was that Quayle (who thought potato is spelt with an 'e')?
-
Yeah, but we were dumb enough to kill one king and then put another idiot on the throne ten years later!

The selection of drugs in Hardwired is worth checking out, too.
