  1. I do believe that the people who come here have an abundance of creativity. So of course there's no single coherent line of thought

It of course doesn't help that we're 2+ years past the original games play date and that some of the real world tech far exceeds what was in game while some of the other game tech is not only not in development but might well be impossible

  2. Since this thread bobbed back up I thought I'd give an update. After absconding with our customer lists and going to work for Canon USA he's managed to get a grand total of 4 clients from us. None of them were particuarly profitable and in fact had been a bit of trouble.

So something between 1 and 2 percent :P

This is a different spin on cybernetics. Imagine people who voluntarily become the mouthpiece for an AI or more disturbingly this coming in the back door with people who allow themselves to effectively become subject to their own smart technology

  4. The issue was that the venue was approximately 15 feet narrower than we'd been led to expect so we had to do some last minute changes in choreography before the competition started. That was the major reason for the one little kid to be jinking around up front.

We're fine tuning things now B)

  5. I'm on a just formed Martial Arts demo team and here's a video of our first competition. It was really rough around the edges due to some constraints of the venue and I was just coming done with a kidney infection. See if you can spot me...here's a hint, I sort of resemble a Ninja Bear :P

BTW we did get 3rd place and there were 16 teams competing!

  6. Of late I've had issues with coyotes becoming more cocky and aggressive. I'm still putting the finishing touches on a polymer 80% AR and I've been sighting in some really nasty 110 grain .30-06' Federal for the Springfield Scout. However I had that urge to buy something new and different.

What I got was an RIA commander size "tactical" 1911 in .22TCM

First time in years that a newly acquired piece just put a really big, stupid grin on my face.

It's almost recoilless, LOUD, spits fire, ridiculously accurate past what you would consider pistol ranges and has the performance of an SBR from something that I can carry in my old Milt Sparks Yaqui Slide.

    22 TCM Tactical

The other thing is a lot weirder. My martial arts training has taken a turn toward the katana with the introduction of Shim Gum Do, a Koreanize take on Iado<sp> and I've been looking around for a real sword that fits the envelope.

What I found was the Zombie Tools Apokatana. It's actually one of the scarier swords I've ever handled, it seems to give off the vibe of a straight up implement of slaughter.

    Apokatana

  7. Game idea:

Living in NOLA is good, the delta city is pushing into the megacity zone with a population of 9 million with massive residential towers rising above the old 9th Ward. As semi legitimate private security you've always got all the work that you can handle.

Recently Bayer-Monsanto offered you a job to get to the bottom of some serious security issues. Before you can even go onsite to the megafarm in the Arkansas Delta you are notified that the entire agro-tech staff of a major production farm for "natural, organic" rice has been massacred.

Your investigation leads you to the compound of a cult that glorifies the Duggars and their television show "19 Kids and Counting"

Seems that their desire to be fruitful and multiply has resulted in their having taxed their own meager sustenance farming efforts and they've got over 1,000 pre-teen children to feed .....

  8. I'm not talking about that, I'm talking about the new order that will follow pacification. And there will be pacification despite the fondest fantasies of preppers and anarchists.

Rather than having devastated wastelands around the cities things have gone back to nature. Only on the robotically tended factory farms will there be any signs of humans and the the only people living out there are the ultra wealthy in fortified estates and the desperately poor squatters who elect to exercise their right to starve slowly by subsistence farming.

  9. In several conversations we've discussed the breaking up of the US or whatever into a number of regions that are amusing to consider. At any rate I listen to audio books while driving and my current listen is The Moral Arc by Michael Shermer and at the end during a discussion of protopia the concept of the city and the megacity becoming the default controlling political entity

This concept meshes very well with the entire CyberPunk concept. C-SWAT would be the major military element for such campaigns but more or less thriving economies rather than dystopias can keep the Edgerunner employed and well equipped.

I'm sort of rambling I'll admit but I thought I'd get this out there before I get distracted by something shiney and forget about it B)

  10. I know that Markc, Rockwolfe, Hanns and myself interact on Facebook regularly and I think we all follow encanta anima there as well. Still, I poke my head in here regularly to see what's going on and who's up to what B)

  11. Now zombies have never been my favorite entertainment but recently I have gotten into it a little bit. While watching a youtube channel called zombiegoboom it occurred to me that there's a huge focus on this or that weapon does to an imitation human skull I'd not seen any sort of assesment of protection.

In the past I'd joked that a full gimp suit with a coating of vasoline would be ideal however now I am pondering exactly what the well equipped zombie fighter would actually wear.

Consider all the current crops of zombies with walker from the Walking Dead, the hyper mobile from World War Z etc. What do they have in common? What's their most dangerous attack.

It's biting, and it doesn't take a major Rottweiler or even a Chihuahua type bite, just enough to break the skin. If you're swarmed it's all the gnawing that gets you, not that they are particularly powerful.

Anyway, I'm thinking something like a gambeson. Heavy quilted with a hoodie and a mask, fencing, hockey, whatever as long as it doesn't come off easily. Heck, have the forearms fitted out so you can "feed" the poor sucker your arm and then sever the brain stem from under the jaw with something like a bowie knife.

Any, real zombie fans tell me what you think!
