  1. good things happen for those who wait, it seems. congratulations.

hm, it seems finland got its snow delivery for this christmas, with an extra order of the flu on the side. right now, I'm coughing like mad and feverish. not nice.

  2. Urban weapons, eh?

I'm going to go with the CH-19 "Crazy Harry" satellite weapon system. It's urban on the grounds that you can use it to demolish small buildings. Plus, it has that whole "God smiting you down" feel.

    :D

  3. It's been long since I last did anything Cyberpunkish, so here's something I thought up just now.

Anyone looking at Wizard noticed something was wrong with him. It was everywhere, in the way he moved, in the way he dressed, in the way his eyes drifted across the crowd. He sat cross-legged on the pavement, swaying back and forth in a sort of dreamy rhythm, interrupted only by the occasional spasmodic twitch, indications of a nervous system completely haywire.

He spoke, or muttered, constantly, in broken scraps of nonsensical sentence or rhyme. In contrast to anything else about him, the Wizard had a beautiful voice, quiet but melodious.

"Dragonsfire, Satan's claw... tell me, pretty-pretty, the name for whom they serve, the color of the sky..." he mumbled, completely ignored by the people walking on the street, even when they almost stumbled on him.

Although ravaged by poison and scourged by disease, Wizard was the exact opposite of insane, despite appearances. Behind his restless eyes was a watchful mind, a mind trained for unseen observation. Nobody looked twice at a madman and few questioned their comings or goings. Both these fact were known and exploited by Wizard and the people he worked for.

The people walking by did not really interest Wizard at all, though he sometimes gave one a glance and waved a collecting tin at them. His eyes never left the building opposite for more than a few seconds at a time, though. Had someone paid close attention, they would have noticed an unusual amount of interest from the disheveled lunatic towards a small electronics boutique with a battered old motorcycle parked outside.

    Of course, nobody ever did.

Hmhm, there you have it. That was written pretty much on the fly, but I reckon there could be something within it worth exploring.

  4. :)

I've had some nice ones, but my brother keeps changing them. For a while he had this massive group shot of like 40 underwear models. Now he's got some psycho-collage deathmetal type thing.

I preferred the blank gray, actually

  5. Damn right. Hell, even my mum says some of those "recipes" are flat-out BS. she's a chemistry teacher, so she knows her stuff, too.

I still have an archived copy somewhere, for fun. Can't recall where, though.

  6. Ah, the wonderful time of rushes, long queues and people spending themselves sick is near at hand. Somehow, I still manage to like it.

On the top of my list this year is the Two Towers Extended DVD box, with the cool Gollum statue. I'll probably buy that for myself, though :)   Other than that, I have no particular needs in the material realm. Some cash would go down well and I certainly would not begrudge a gift of MtG cards... Nah, even that is pure luxury.

  7. I'm curious, does anyone else have negative experiences related to using the net? does it affect your everyday life in a negative manner?

I ask because I screwed up a major programming course because of IRC. My graduation was just pushed back by at least 6 months.

  8. Dead ends.

What does one do when one finds oneself against a solid wall?  I am lost, bereft of options in my narrow-minded universe.

I'm trying to decide whether to do something that would benefit me but cause unwarranted trouble and discomfort to someone else. I need help from someone, but I know that while they would give it to me if I asked, they would rather not be asked to.

Is relieving one's own burden reason enough to bother someone else with one's worries?

I'd appreciate your views because, quite frankly, you're probably smarter and more experienced than me in stuff like this.

  9. I think the truth is somewhere in between the extremes, as so often is the cases in such situations of opposition.

(I actually had a longer rant all figured out, but it would have been too pointless to bother with)

Also, labeling something as "genetically superior", I feel, is a bit premature, until we can truly define the workings of the human genome.
