Quote (DragoonCav @ July 18 2002,15:39) Henry VIII might have found a katana jammed through his ocularium had he went up against a decent samurai. Actually if you compare European and Japanese timelines, by the time the Japanese started making their legendary 200 folded swords, the Europeans were casting field artillery and the relevance of swords on the battlefields was starting to diminish.

Come to think of it it's entirely possible I have offspring in Koln...

Quote (Suriel @ July 17 2002,23:33) Hm. First time I visited Köln I was just taken by the Dom, the giant gothic cathedral...
When I looked up and went on walking, I had the feeling that time moved slower or something. I still get the same feeling, when I go there.
So perhaps the onboard crew at the Kölner Dom will forgive me that I did a confession in there, although I´m as atheist as I could be.
I´m an angel, what´d you exspect? One thing I love about Europe is the bar districts are always right next to cathedrals.
I got TANKED at an Irish pub in Koln. (That's Cologne fer us'n Americans.)

Yes I feel like a geek. I AM a geek!
I don't know if I have too much free time, but I could probably better manage what dicikin' around time I do have.
BTW, congratulations Mr. Psycho Bartholomew Phipps.

Puddle pirates...

It was 500 to three. The fight was long. We fought hard. Eventually, we got all three of them.

To hit 400. Thanks!

I once did a deal where I took S-bahns all the way from Munchen to Kirch-Gons (just south of Giessen). It took FOR-EVER!

Also, come to think of it, you could probably switch from bus to train for the Amsterdaam-Brussels leg for pretty cheap.
Of course it's been a few years...
-
Are you a student? You can can pretty good rates on the ICE if you are. (Or is it IC? I forget.) I used to ride the rails a lot over there and I remember seeing (and smelling ) students on the train all the time.
BTW, Amsterdaam ROCKS!

Berlin to Belgium? Sheesh. Must be love (or lust )

Quote (Agamemnon @ July 16 2002,05:05) You know, I read in a magazine that they are introducing an HIV-positive character to Sesame Street in South Africa. Had I a cigar I would give it to you!

Quote (Malcolm @ July 16 2002,09:24) Yeah, I remember Cyberjunk mentioned this on the list back in May. Should be interesting to see what's it's like.
Why did you find ATP hard to follow? I'd be interested in hearing.
Cheers
MalcI read his books out of order. I have another thread on this here somewhere, but I did not realize his 6 books were really two seperate series.

Buy a flak vest. You'll need it.

Yup, again you have the Techie v Netrunner thing to deal with.
To me netrunners exist because, well, that's just Cyberpunk.

Um, that's kind of a hard one to explain. It's not really a language, but a certain segment of society thinks it is. Mostly it deals with the Oakland school district's inability to teach it's children grammatically correct english.

I speak, American, English, Ebonics, a touch of German, I vaguely recall a couple of Swedish words, and a bit of Turbo-Serbo.

In 2020 I'm thinking "Sesame Street" will introduce an HIV positive character to better confuse very young children.
Where did YOU start?

D&D Basic Set, the purple box. 1981 or 1982 I think.
That was followed by Star Frontiers. Then came Marvel Superheroes. (Note all TSR titles. 1980s USA!)
Then along came Toilet:2000, which I thought was just the bestest game ever! Now I know it is probably quite the opposite.
Finally in High School I played in a Star Wars campaign that was one of the most fun gaming experiences I've ever had.
I played a ton of different titles in high school. I gamed at the local comic store and every time someone bought a new game, we of course had to play. I played 1st ed Cyberpunk a couple times before 2020 came out. Then when I bought 2020 I finally found "my" game. Compared to most of the stuff out at the time CP2020 was high on the list of playability/logical game systems.
2020 was one of the first games to encourage "even-handed" GMing (in other words no monty hauling!). Also FNFF was one of the most logical combat systems out at the time. Note I said LOGICAL, not realistic. I am referring to playability/believability.
(For anyone interested the most realistic combat system I ever saw was Phoenix Command. It reads like an FBI technical manual and is absolutly worthless for gaming.)
