  1. I think we all have to realize that we as a American society have come to think of animation as being "childish" and so we only really do Western animation for cartoons. Now, I'll agree that Japanese animation is much more refined then ours but by far, our still and single drawings and art by far surpass anything Japan can stick out. The art and style of American artists, like I have said before, is often unappreciated for being what it is and becuase of our society, will never be as extreme as anime. To the Japanese, anime is like Hollywood is most respects and are solely focused on as being good films, but we as Americans, being far more advanced in our film industrys, have surpassed anime movies and created a much more sophisticated movie style that Japan could never match. There's a lot of excellent American art but our animation stinks for a reason, simply becuase we've no motivation to improve our film animation for the fact that our american audience doesn't need to focus on that form becuase of the fact, and I once again say, that we have surpassed Japan's media into a new form.

  2. I'm reading through Neuromancer currently and I'm a bit confused. Right now I'm at the Rue Jules Verne in Freeside and I'm confused to what Freeside actually is. To me, it sounds like some kind of resort in space, on some sort of space station. Or am I just an idiot? Second confusions is, why in the hell are they there? I think I missed the reason why they had that first run, the one in the office with Case looking through Molly's eyes. Why were they doing that? Hmm.. well any help is appreciated.

  3. Aside from my two obvious.. Blade Runner and Johnny Mnemonic, there are others that I consider very Cyberpunkish although not very futuristic some of they may be.

Hackers - Excellent movie, not futuristic but the feel was definatly Cyberpunk.

Swordfish - Once again, not futuristic but had that excellent Cyberpunk feel to it.

Ghost In The Shell - Another obvious

Armitage The Third - Heh, gotta love a anime that resembled Blade Runner on mars ;)

Twilight Of The Dark master - Unknown anime that takes place in the future.

The Matrix - The popularity of this movie has caused me to dislike it but I still cannot deny the Cyberpunk value of this gem.

Darkside Blues - EXCELLENT GOTHIC CYBERPUNK ANIME FILM!

Oh and of course Impostor! Heh, the new film based off the Philip K. Dick book.

Hmm.. that's about it. Get back to you later.

  4. Me being an Atheist, gives me the luxury to outwardly and honestly bash and talk freely as I wish about all forms of things. One such thing might be the denial of creationism but Evolution doesn't necessarily deny that fact, Atheist or otherwise. Many people misunderstand what Evolution truly is, Darwin did not say we came from monkeys but simply compard the likenesses between the primate and the human being. He theorized that we might of come from a lower, less evolved human form that was similar to what a ape might look like. The term evolution doesn't necessarily deny the fact that we may have been created by a God, even though I do, but rather is just a term for adaptation and change. I really can't see how anyone can sit there and deny evolution as a real element of the world becuase it's so completely evident that you would have to be a complete moron not to realize it.

  5. Did anyone else catch this game? I played it all the way through and absolutely loved it! It's got a very Cyberpunkish setting, a little more advanced in way of Science Fiction but I recommend it to everyone.

  6. I started writing a Cyberpunk-esque type story a little while back and I'm just now starting it up again. Below I'm posting the intro I wrote for it to get a feel of it. Let me know what you all think.

The figure that lay among the heaps of garbage in the alleyway suddenly sprang to life, grasping for the cold, night air. His eyes flickered and ears strained to hear the distant sound of tires screeching off into the night. Taking in the scene, he tried to remember, something, anything. Where was he? He tried standing up, almost losing his balance in the process, dropping suddenly, to his knees, screaming in agonizing pain, as he gripped his forehead, almost pulling out his own hair. His head hurt as if thousand hammers were all hitting it in a symphony of pain. Blood dripped from his forehead, the pain from his fingernails digging into his scalp somewhat easing the pain of his headache.

Almost as suddenly as the headache had come on, it vanished, becoming just another fading memory in his mind. He stood up once again, this time with more luck than last. Looking about, he noticed he was wearing a very thick, black, leather trench coat that hid the black leather pants and black nylon shirt underneath. His long hair hung down over his eyes, the thick, wet strands sliding back and forth across his forehead making viewing all that much harder until finally slicking them back over his head. Standing at a staggering 6’7 feet, he towered over everything in the alleyway.

The alleyway stunk of month old garbage, causing his nose to cringe as he stumbled out of the alley, his hands using the grimy, brick walls for leverage. The scene outside of the alleyway was no better, the buildings all looked as if they had been struck with bombs, repeatedly in fact. The walls were all riddled with cracks and bullet holes, the shops neon signs, flickering away in the night. Pimps and prostitutes stood on the street corners, selling their wares to the occasional passer-by. Reality came flooding back to him as he realized he’d awoken in a very real and very dangerous world.

  7. Heh heh, almost forgot to say what I had in mind. A friend of mine named Mike, GMed his first game and had a sort of stupidity rule in effect. His rule was that once something happened in game, the players actually had that amount of time to do it, no matter what. So if in game time they had was two hours, then the players would have from say 8 to 10 to do it, even if they were messing around or not in the game at the moment. Needless to say this was a interesting idea but it failed miserably. We all realized that it shouldn't be pushed on everyone and it IS a social gathering so a little goofing off and having fun is for the better. Trust me, don't force the game on the players, just have fun but don't be afraid to smack them if they don't want to get back on track every once in a while. Don't make it a chore to play, make it fun but still have rules.

    Well, that's Tek's two cents.
