  1. Heh, you'll be the first one I notify, Suriel. Because of school at what not, the story and development of it is being a bit slow on my part. I apologize but once I get that established, the game will go quite smoothly since posting will be no problem for me after that.

  3. I'm viewing the event list for GenCon 2002 right now and the only Cyberpunk roleplaying event I can find is called Chop Shop and it's alright sold out. Are there any punkers out there that might be going and planning on adding a game that they're planning on running? I'm not really interested in any of the other events and I'd hate to go to GenCon and not play at least one Cyberpunk game.

  4. I have to say that I find myself absorbed in the Cyberpunk culture and thinking every single day. Like the Goth subculture of today, there exists a Cyberpunk culture. Call it what you will and describe it as you may but how I live, act, dress, think and talk all describe me, in my own thinking as a true Cyberpunk.

  5. It's an interesting thought and for the most part I agree with you. I like the ideas and I'm glad that your sharing. I want everyone who feels like they would like to play, to have input. Makes the game more interesting. If you would like, everyone who would like to play can email me at TekXombie@hotmail.com and I can share more details there. Right now, I'm thinking about using a few ideas from Suriel's that I rather enjoyed. And you're right, it did seem that Tyrell loved his creations and wanted them to live. In fact, he was constantly trying to perfect them, create the perfect replicant, which eventually lead to the secret release of Nexus 6. Anyway, I need to go at the moment. Email if you like or just post on here. Doesn't matter. In a day or so, I'll have decided what kind of characters I want and I'll let you know so you can email me your details.

  7. I apologize to everyone because my ISP's been down. I'm not sure when it'll be back up so I have to post at a computer at my school. The story is still in the works and I'm not completely sure on a lot of details. To answer your question though, it will be set in the Blade Runner universe with a whole new story but it might or might not take place around the same day as the movie. If it did, you would meet up with the characters but as of right now, the story's being set afterwards with the events from the first movie and first game, still have taken place. To answer your question, it'll be based mostly on Blade Runner units but I haven't decided whether I want to have Replicant units.

  9. Heh heh, I had a munchkin player named John in one of my games that played a character named "Jackson Badass". Well, heh heh, to much of my surprise, the other players came up with the nick name "Jack-Some Bad-Ass." and the player got constantly ripped on! Hah hah, it was hilarious! I imagine he really did not mean to have a homosexual term as his name but it stuck, mainly because the other players never let him forget it.

Sweet! Heh heh, this is my 200th post... Damn it! I spilled my f*cking Coke on my keyboard!

  10. To add atmosphere, I usually dress appropriately. Generally I play a lot of Corps in my campaigns, so wearing a suit fits in nicely. I really do enjoy playing at night, not only because the dark adds atmosphere but it gets the f*cking sun out of my eyes! Heh heh, sorry. Anyway... I don't generally add music, other than simple instrumental stuff without words to add to the background. Usually low, moody techno or the occasional song to fit a bad scene or club situation. Other than that, there's not much else. Except sitting around a table, ordering either pizza or chinese food and calling each other profane names.

  11. The plan is to use a stat system of my own, which won't be known to the players. The stat system will be drawn up by me, and will be known only by me. I'll determine the stats based upon your background and concept, so you'll have to write a lot of details. This way, there will be more room for role playing and things will be done more realistically. If you don't agree, you don't have to play. I'm sure there are other games on this board that might adhere to rules more to your liking.

  13. Alright, well it's up to the players whether they would like to have the game on the forums or by email. I want to get a few more players first. I require that you have at least a little knowledge of either the movie or the book but if not, that's alright, just do a little researching in the next few days. The roles will be pretty much the same, but it won't be structured like Cyberpunk. You can be anything you like, including even a Blade Runner unit (Cop/Bounty Hunter), which I need at least one person if not more to be. To answer your question, no, you don't roll. Most PBEM games you create characters with stats but right now i'm working on a new system that I'll outline later on. All I need from you and the others players are a background and basic concept of your character. I'll draw up all your stats myself and send them to you. The setting is during the movie, 2019 and set in Los Angeles. Technology won't really be the same as in the Cyberpunk RPG, I'll outline that later also.

Also ffs stop electing bloody Republicans! Dubya couldn't manage a runny turd after a bad curry, let alone run the free world. Say what you like about Clinton's penchant for fat interns but he was a hell of a statesman.

Bah. It'd be funny if it was happening to somebody else...

I agree. Bush is clearly an idiot. We really would of been better off electing someone more competant like Gore. Even if you didn't like Clinton, you have to admit that he did so much more and was a hell of alot more intelligent than Bush. Clinton should of never been impeached because he was asked a personal question that I really don't think anyone would of answered truthfully. The whole sexual business about him belongs in the bedroom, between him and his wife, not the nation and it's people. I'm not interested in his personal life, only how he does his job and he did a damn good job at that.

  16. Hello,

I'm looking to start up a Blade Runner style game either on here or by email. It would be my first time and I would very much enjoy to get enthusiasts for the game. Be forwarned though, that the game has very little to do with Cyberpunk it'self and uses very little Gibson influence. Such as Netrunning isn't done in the Tron sense. I'll post more details later.

  18. I think the reason that Cthulu-punk wouldn't do well is for one basic reason, and I think that if SpiderMurphy were still posting as much as usual, is that the supernatural in Cyberpunk just isn't good. If you want to run around and shoot monsters and use magic, then play Shadowrun. A big reason I play Cyberpunk is BECAUSE of the fact that it doesn't contain monsters or magic or the supernatural. The reason I love Cyberpunk is plain and simple, it's down and dirty and although it contains cybernetics and advanced science fiction elements, it's realistic in the sense that no matter how powerful you get, any idiot with a gun can come along and blow you to hell.

  19. It's obvious that neither of you were paying attention to the post I created or the nature of the subject it was pertaining to. The fact of the matter is, is that if you're going to use Gibson's concept of the net in a Tron-like state, with Data Fortresses, you have to have the Netrunner still feel he is important while in game terms, still being able to deal with him in the coherent faction of the group. Therefore, my concept or proposal, states that a smaller corporation, or some other organization, would have a datafortress security system designed exactly like the layout of the building, including security devices in the Matrix in the same exact location as in the real world. Why? Because it makes things easier on the GM, and therefore doesn't make it a hassle and keeps the enjoyable and fun factors still intact within the game. Therefore, you keep the Netrunner at the same part of the group, allowing the GM to interact with the party as an actual group, and also allowing the realities of the Net and Datafortress/security system to be in play. If either of you idiots would think clearly about the subject, you would of both realized that the concept is quite sound and would work out quite well in the game world. So instead of slapping your heads like morons, read and do not criticize someone who was only trying to offer another way of tackling the concept of Netrunning.

I saw something like this in "Blade Runner", good stuff.

Blade Runner? Hmm... being a huge Blade Runner fan and seeing the movie more times than pretty much anyone, I'd have to say I don't remember a damn thing like that in it. Although I will say, that this seems to be extremely similar to what I saw in The Fifth Element where the girl steps out on the ledge and the large train rides down on the side of the buidling.

  21. Today at a Wizards of The Coast store, I heard an interesting concept from a GM about how to run a Netrunner with the party. He said use what's called a "Invisible Room". He explained the concept to me as having the secturity and net system of the Corporate building looking EXACTLY like the inside and outside of the building. Then have the Netrunner shown up to the party as a Hologram and whenever the party would encounter a doorway they couldn't pass because of security problems, the netrunner, who was in the exact same point in Cyberspace, would walk up the door and hack through it. Sound interesting? Heh, I actually love the concept and intend on applying it to my next game. Looks to be an excellent way to keep the party together while maintaining the importance and uniqueness of the Netrunner.

  22. And of course there's always the "Nauseator" that's used for literally making the rioters sick to their stomach. But of course, heh, if it gets too out of control, the police in my city wouldn't hesistate to just blow the hell out of them with a shower of bullets. Caring, huh?  :mg:
