No no no! Cyberpunk is most definitely octarine.

(For those of ypu unable to see the Color of Magic, it's a sort of greenish yellow-purple.)

Ok guys, no need to worry here, Agamemnon just forgot his medicine.

Here Aga, look at the little pill... Go, on, take it, be a good boy now. There you go...

*whispers to others* Get the straight jacket ready, he´s seeing "funny colors" and speaking about languages again...

    :D

Personally, I think 12 monkeys was a pretty good movie, even though I wouldn´t necessarily label it as a cyberpunk movie. The feeling was awsome, and futility of it all was potrayed well.

On the sidenote, does anyone remember the name of the movie where they are in australia after nuclear war? I think it was something like last shore, or distant shore. Was on TV in finland about a year ago. Stupid movie for some aspects, but they really managed to create a great atmosphere in the end...

    Oh, and yes, cats rule...

  3. I guess this has been requested already, but I´m getting tired, so I desided to ask again...

Could someone please post the basic vehicle stats that can be found in Maximum Metal? (or a link to them). The SDP limits, default speed, acc/dcc, space, range.. The whole tale, if you have MM you know what I mean. I´m getting tired to trying to calculate them from existing data...

I have tried to find them, but no luck so far. Also, if you know of a website of a RPG-shop that would have the book, and would sell it, AND would deliver outside US, I´d be grateful...

    Thanks.

Who says they have to be real werewolves? Make the killers some genetic experiments that escaped from the labs. They go around killing indiscrimanatly. Using their near(or higher) human intelligence to plan their dirty work. The animal side keeps getting out and messing things up.

Oh, and to be really nasty, make it two of them. One male and one female. And she's pregnant and about to have kittens/puppies/whatever.

    Just my thoughts.

I actually used this sort of plot in one of my opening campaigns. 4 Players, who were contacted by a suit.

Suit told them he and his two friends had recieved threaths, and wanted protection. He gave the group names of the two other people, and the team took the deal. When they finished the meeting in the park, and were walking away, "two dogs" jumped from the bushes, and rammed the suit so he fell to bushes on the other side. Then they could hear him scream, and by the time they got there, he was gone. Same happened with second (he was taken from his apartment when the characters were waiting on the door, and had to deal with the security arriving to the scene.). When they arrived to the third persons place, he was already dead, with the house rigged with explosives/fire.

Afterwords, they discovered that the dogs, (witch they had seen walking on two legs at some point), were infact special troops of some company (Arasaka I think), and were just duiguised as werewolfs. The reason?

The third person they were supposed to protect, wanted to change the company(voluntary extraction). This whole thing offered big cover, so he could disappear (die in the fire, so no-one recognized the look-a-like corpse he had arranged to be left behind), and start working with the new company.

Still, I had fun running the players around. I generally think the scenario was succesful, with some fun in HUGE abandoned warehouse, ful of junk (no line of sight), broken air conditioner (no thermal optics, even though no-one used them), and broken lights. Sort of an alienish feeling, when they could hear sounds, see a glimpse of movement now and then, and feel "something" being present. Kinda fun dice roll too, one of them was grapped and killed by one blow (rippers to the face, by a strong "werewolf".) One attack, guy died, "werewolf disappeared to the junk. Made players scared (as I rolled it in secret, tI just told them what happened, not that it was mainly a co-incidense)

Hell, I even wrote a document (fake) that mentioned the "speciments" having escaped from a lab. Crypted it too (not too difficult, swap first alphabet with the last, second with secind last, etc. Looked wierd though. And gave players something to think about, other then "who to shoot"

  5. Only when I roll too many fumbles in a roll. It´s frustrating to players when that happens...

I generally don´t like the fumble rules in CP2020...

Your average SEAL trooper manages to hit either himsellf or his teammate about 3% of the time. Seriously, if this was the case, there would be no-one using guns anymore as they had all killed themselves by now...

If someone fumbles, I usually roll another dice, and if the result is high enough, they fumble, otherwise they only fail. "High enough" usually varies by the situation, and since they don´t usually see the rolls... :)

  6. The place is propably an independent command bunker, maybe hidden, or at least camouflaged (to a small R&D lab researching new toilet paper, or something else unimportant). Access codes, auto guns, scans, locked doors and big nasty guards.

Not that it really matters though, as I highly doubt any of the rocket sientists are willing to wipe the floors and clean otherwise. Bots propably do a lot of cleaning, but place may still have a cleaner... Besides, bots are really handy for techies and deckers to get through...

So, if someone knows about it, and someone want´s it, someone will get it. Using it is a completely different story...

  7. Richard makes some calculations before taking the intercom. A deep worry can be heard from his voice.

"This is Richard again. I have some bad news. First of all, our ship is currently on a collision course with a comet. I´ll see if I can manage to change our course safely to avoid it. Secondly, our oxygen reserves are depleting. If I´m not wrong, I´d guess we have absulute maximum of 40 day, propably a lot less due to air leakage earlier. Now, I thing the comet arrives first, so I´d better start working on that. Air can wait for now, I hope. Just wanted you to know what´s going on. Richard out."

After this, Richard places the microphone down, and starts to plan the evasion of comet. Noting 2 things:

    1) To avoid comet so that the "tail" won´t hit the ship.

2)if possible, correct the course towards original course.

  8. Richard arrives to the bridge, and takes a closer look at the warning light+any meters involved.

"Thanks for the warning Matti. I thought it was something else, but this is propably more important right now."

    He grabs the intercom.

"Danielle, I think we may still leak some air. Could you check if there is signs of it please?"

  9. I could tell my life story, but I doubt you´d be interested.

    Finnish, 22, wierd.

I guess that is enough... :)

edit: forgot one thing; wierd sense of humor...

  10. Just out of curiosity, has anyone ever tried treating their munchkin characters like real heroes?

You know, people come to ask autographs from them, bartenders offer them free drinks, beautiful women (or men) come to sit in their table. Fixers give hefty discounts, if players promise to mention their name, crime bosses call them at their home for lunch, corps ask if they would like to work for them, and how much they would want for salary...

    Might be fun.

You´d get your players paranoid quite quickly, specially if they haven´t done anything...

And if not, they will get some trouble. (Look below)

"What do you mean I broke the yakuza etiquette by entering the house armed/armored?"

"Well, it shows you don´t trust your host. He seems deeply offended by your behariour..."

"You are talking to the girl, who suddently covers her face saying ´####, my dad just came in. He has this stupid idea that 15 year old girls should be home by midnight. I think his work as security counsilor at Arasaka has just made him paranoid.` "

"You remember the mob bookie now. He was in the rush last week, asking your autograph. Suddenly you realize that the 1 000 000 eb. bond with your name on it looks vaguently familiar."

    Etc. You know...

  11. For dealing heavily armored targets,

    1) 7.62 minigun with AP ammo. Can cause damage up to SP 75 or so (Well, with maximum damage and only one point penetrates.) Average hit penetrates  about SP 45 (doing 1 point /bullet) ROF 100, hopper of 2000 rounds. Armot the user well, and let them see what happens. I suggest using "5% of ROF hit per additional point" rule in autofire.

    2) Knife or sword. May require a borg in order to penetrate if target is REALLY heavily armored, but still a viable option. Also wolverines may come in handy. Mono if must.

3)Make them swim/hang in ropes/climp. Be sure to explain the effect of armor in these cases.

    4) Make the person they are fighting run away, and through metal detectors. They follow, and get the security after themselves.

    5) I don´t think gas masks help agains nerve gas, so this is still a viable option.

6)Ram them with a (armored) car. Hey, they could take cover, but if they wont... Don´t forget to multiply the damage with 3 or 4 to reflect the weight of the car. If they do cover, the enemy can quicly escape the scene, to make a new attempt later.

    7) Make them slip on a banana peel. (well, not really efficient, but I´d like to see them develope a munchkin solution for that problem)

8)A good looking blond comes in and says "are you happy to see me, or is that a handcannon in your pocket?" after witch "Oh, it´s a handcannon... Oh well, bye."

    9) Have kids on the street point them af fingers and shout "mommy, mommy, I wanna be a storm trooper too!!!" After witch their mothers hush them and take them away quickly.

    10) Warning, for hopeless cases only:

Get them on the top of a corporate tower on a stormy night with their guns and gear, roll (secretly) a luck roll, choose the worst munchkin, and ask if he knows one should NOT be on a clear, high location holding metal objects during thuinderstorm... Apply what ever damage you see fit from lightning strike... Propably much. If he survives, and is about to start to celebrate, tell him that as a result of the lightning strike his ammo/explosives/grenades go off. (apply damage)

If he is still alive, get the security there. Note that the guy now has no ammo.

    What? It could happen...

    Just few ideas...

  12. Quote (Agamemnon @ June 26 2002,14:58)
Why not a Tsunami Helix while you're at it? It's got ROF 43 and a burg can mount an internal ammo hopper.

    Where is that from?

  13. Nah, get a 20 gauge gatling model...

Sure, 10 gauge is more powerful, but just think about the abount of pellets in gatling burst...Chain fed from a backpack hopper...

Ok, gunnuts can come in and ruin the idea by explaining the reasons pellets can´t be used, and tell you to replace them with slugs now... I can´t remember the reason myself.

Would make one hell of a weapon though...  :(

  14. Chrome book 2 has the rules, can´t remember them exactly, but I think it has 3 levels of therapy, that return 50, 33 or 25% of the humanity lost...

Houserules I invented before getting chrome 2 stated that the counselling costs (2+D3)*100 eb per 1 IH returned, and can be taken till minimum HC was reached (or HC 0 if the cost was constant). Therapy after that cost x10.

Never wondered about the time though.

    Hope that helps.

  15. As you propably figured, he is very popular in Finland, propably mainly due to popularity of Donald Duck comics in here.

I was just wondering if he was well know in other parts of the world too.

And yes, his storytelling is excellent, and his sense of humor is good too. (although I also partly thank the finnish translators about this. They manage to keep most jokes intact, or atleast somehow understandable)
