People kill each other all the time for revenge and I'd hesitate to call them edgerunners.

    Edgerunner.

Someone who runs along the 'edge' of things? Where its dangerous and they're likely to get killed?

    I think he is.

Even if he is a Corp' sellout - he did the job himself.

    *shrug*

But I really don't care. The 80's guitar rock image he is made of is too horrifying to contemplate allowing to infect my game universe...

  2. Bond movies improved dramatically with Pierce Brosnan...I just cannot deal with the old ones.

I was traumatised by the sight of Sean Connery's hairy legs protruding from a pair of pink shorts so tight he was probably going to cut the circulation so necessary to his leg's verdant growth...

    *eeeeeeeeewwwwwww*

Pierce looks the part, sounds the part and has much better fashion sense.

most shows just start to get good when they are axed due to ratings or something crap. And usually the characters are just warming up and then the show is no more.

Bring back Farscape! And Space : Above and Beyond!

  3. Re: the bayonet thing

With all the shortened/lightened weapons these days (particularly the Steyr AUG...iirc that's what Australia uses)...aren't you at a HUGE disadvantage with bayonet fighting?

I've heard barrels tend to bend as well...

An AK-47 looks like it would be ok, but light short and plastic weapons seem a bit problematic...

  4. I'll jump in... :)

    My preferred character types are...wierdoes.

Paranoid, defensive, focussed, ideological and doomed to die with ignominy for being stupid enough to involve themselves in a Conspiracy...a little guy in over his head.

From reading the Players Guide, I'd like to go techie scavenger.

Focussed on tech and piloting skills, with just a little bit of fighting ability.

I like the idea of recovering smashed up gear after storms - perhaps as an adventure seed, the 'Team' gets wind of a wrecked Corporate motorpool and decides to go recover it.

Of course, something else is going on, and being out there all on your own as official clean up teams close in... :)

As a thought - it might help if the PC's were all fresh off the ship from Earth. We all have a good idea of what a messed up Earth is like, and that way we can be introduced to Blue Planet as PC's and Gamers in a coherent way, without prior knowledge...imagine a ship crew on shore leave and the ship is impounded/blows up and we're left to our own devices...

you shoudo sign up for the presidents own marine band just like being in the marines you get the money the uniform the rank

    YaWhat?

They definitely qualify for 'PUNTS' status...

Sometimes I think about joining the Army. I just can't tell if I'd survive the training or not. Hated PE at high school...and you have to do all that running/marching/jumping off things before they'll give you a gun...

Anyone with experience care to comment?

  6. In a very automated/computerised world, you could get away with it without peeving people - just keeping their computers busy!

Especially with that agent oriented system I'm always going on about, and a constant string of new digital identities...

  7. My life sure as 'eck ain't mundane at the moment - its stressed to all hell and I'm going crazy.

I look forward to things 'becoming dull' again in 2weeks time when I'll be able to sit down and think...

What do you do with your time?

I used to be as depressed as you - and I turned it into a rather cool comic. Should try it. Doing things is very distracting...

My native American ancestory shows up in my sparse facial hair.  I shave what little I have every day or so.  If I let it go for a week it will get noticable.

I'm envious. I can extrude stubble just by grimacing, it grows so fast.

...I'm tempted to laser it out...

Most other forms of music is so fast or garbled, you need to buy their CD to get a print out of the lyrics!

    WHAT'S WRONG WITH THAT?

    *cof*

(Sorry, been listening to Alec Empire stuff today...the guy from Atari Teenage Riot? :) )

but most don't talk about some dude's dog and their ford pickup with the shotgun in the rifle rack!!!

That would be a blessing to hear a song about such things after the monumental pile of crap called 'Country & Western Love Songs'...

OT: Yes, I know the clip. I cried when I saw it. How could they abuse cyberpunk imagery in such a heinous way. Even George Michaels Freek clip was less blasphemous.

    Ugh...

    ;)

You might like my games, Wenin. Everywhere you go, people seem to be playing Japanese Country & Western - its taken over from rehashing the 'best hits of the 70's & 80's' radio stations as the source of radioactive evil...

    Tee hee

You really don't want to know what we call her in the music shop where I work, then.

I've only heard 'Shania Go Twang'...kinda lame...gotta better one?

The most frustrating thing about them was that they occured right when I had the chance to finish them off.

Yes - that's what was happening in the cases where I got an error.

I'd be thinking a boundary condition was out - perhaps subtracting the damage from the targets HP's was causing a calculation that threw the error...

...I may also be thinking in C++ terms...

Can a targets HP become negative?

  11. If you had lots of money and +10 programming and I/F - how about a digital shadow person?

An imaginary digital person that is always making arrangements for hotels, purchases, deliveries, but never quite confirms.

Use a 'dead man' concept - so that if you don't call in at a certain time, and then don't counter-act, it sets up a few rooms for the night, places orders for equipment and starts delivery to a location it will specify the next time you check a dummy email account at a dataterm...an automated process to bring everything you need together just in time.

You don't call in safe at 6pm one night, by 12pm you have a new name, a comfy plush hotel room, a hire car in the basement and a package containing new clothes gear and ID will arrive in the morning...

There are some feasibility issues, but...its a start...

  12. As a netrunner, with potentially valuable data, I would advise doing everything in your power to stop him doing anything with it.

This means that however you take him down, make sure he's 'turned off' for a while.

What if he has some kind of inbuilt comm gear with which he could remotely delete the data?

Even better - what if its timed and has a dead man code switch to nuke it if he isn't present at certain intervals?

I'm thinking grab, KO him, and be ready to immediately go in.

As soon as he's down, I'd (ideally) be wanting to able to watch any communications go into/out of the building to ensure nothing is being copied or 'ordered'.

If you can do longer term surveillance...

Video Recorder hidden in the general area? Fast forward to spot anyone that goes in/out?

    Defeating internal security...

Can you scan the place? Thermograph? IR? Some kind of EM scan to see where the wires are?

Perhaps arrange an unusual entry point. Take a cordless drill and go through the roof sheeting. Cause some distracting noise nearby and cut your way in.

You could also consider 'suppressing' him via the net. Get him into a particularly intense game of something. You know he'll be out of it for an hour at least...

  13. Hey - just had a look around...

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: isdungeon() in /home/httpd/vhosts/cp2066.com/httpdocs/includes/functionSet1.inc on line 595

I was in a fight with a City Thug and had just hit 'attack'.

I'm just wondering if collecting/collating error reports like this might help any... :)

(I know what errors are like, and would like to help you iron them out...what is it all written in?)

I love the artwork. Good stuff. :)

  14. 22, born in '81.

The 24th of Feb - curiously, the day some major astronomical laboratory recorded a Supernova.

My star sign is 'BANG'... :D

Spent my early days reading SF like Asimov, playing WWII wargames and inventing my own SF universes.

    First computer was a 486 when I was 10...

  15. Its your gameworld, you can create anything you like!

If I were creating such a 'space', I would be thinking about what kind of Corporate economy would be needed to support it.

For an entire shopping and entertainment complex to be sustained by a Corporations workers, you need a very large pool of people with access to the space and an expendable income.

This means fairly low level staff having well above a subsistence wage.

Perhaps consider the 'Safe area' as something shared by a number of Corporations, and its a big thing to have your employees allowed in.

There's lots of class rivalry possible here - the new, small Corporation allowed in gets wierd treatment, the High-Ups have their own little part of the 'town', various scams to bring in visitors and securities constant attempts at keeping out the raff...

  16. I read MA as a fitness level as well as running speed, and am tempted to use it to determine body type modifier.

(and curiously, increasing it would also up your ATTR and BOD in RL)

    OT:

How about increasing stats causes a different stat to drop?

Increasing your INT is probably going to involve meditation/study/practice...which means a lot of sitting around thinking and not body building. Thus you could perhaps sell off a point of (natural, base, not cybered) BOD.

Kinda like - what areas of your life are you prepared to give up on to achieve your goal?

INT vs BOD    (skinny college student VS dumb boxer?)

EMP vs TECH  (has forgotten why he works here, is always chatting VS likes his machines so much he can't talk to people anymore)

REF vs COOL  (make him flinch and he'll take your head off? VS he doesn't react)

    Attr, Luck, MA.

    Hm.

Not sure how you'd do these. But you get the idea.

    Quote
What you could do would be to work out how much IP you would need to raise every skill based of that stat by 1 and then use that as a base for Stat advancement.

Hmmm...perhaps. I feel I need a bit more convincing though.

This could be a way to calculate how much each stat is worth to the character and thus the number of points to shift around in the manner I've suggested...

    Thoughts?

I'd think the jacket Neo wore would conceal the posture and figure

If there was anything pear shaped about your figure, you'd look like you were wearing a maternity dress.

Those long lines down the front would exacerbate the slightest imbalance.

Which would be a bad thing for the look. (though you could be considered one bad ass mother...)

A far forward set neck/head (like me) would also do wierd things with the collar - you'll notice his almost choked posture.

Like those napoleonic leather collar things to ensure the troops look stiff and resolved in the face of adversity (while marching. Such things were rapidly discarded in battle...)

It sure made him look poised and austere, but not comfy.

If you want to conceal figure faults, get something that takes it own shape - something puffy/bulky/padded.

Like - for instance - the jackets of the Cops out of Equilibrium wear. They stand out a long way...

  18. Quote
Speaking of clothing, am I the only one who wants a jacket like Neo had in Matrix Reloaded?

    No.

    I want one too... :)

You've gotta have really good posture and a balanced figure though.

    +Shock - he smiled+ :embarrassed:

  19. Interesting...

Just a thought. I had this idea for a personal hygiene device that is somewhere between one of those back massagers and an electric toothbrush.

Circular, about 6" in diameter, battery powered, and has a water reservoir for about 1/4 of a litre. You fill that with water and a detergent, and it gets pumped out from the middle of the scrubbing side, and is sucked back up again at the edge after being passed under a series of counter-rotating bristles.

It would be ok for a basic wash, and might require more than just the water in the reservoir to a whole or a very dirty body (and you certainly couldn't use the water twice without serious filtering!)

Might be a bit too delicate for the task, but...if you think it sounds sane enough...
