  1. When you collect your money

$1300 back to you (House takes 20%).

As Boris takes his money from the person behind the counter he gestures over his shoulder in the direction the lithe young lady just departed in and asks, "That Seraphine, you know her?" He leaves a 20 hanging in hopes the cashier can provide him an insight on where or how to look her up since she left so little to go on.... but what little there was left a lot to the imagination B)

Gathering his remaining funds he quickly counts out $200 and hands them to Dimitri, "You've been a good friend, I can not thank you enough for all your help," and then quickly pulls out another $200 for Magda - "I would not want my presence to diminish the provisions Dimitri works so hard to provide."

Boris shakes out his shirt preparing to put it back on, then thinks better of it. "Perhaps now we can go to your home so that I may shower and remove the stink of that deluded young man before we go out and enjoy a victory feast," he says with a bigger grin then he had a moment ago. "Such physical activity inspires such an appetite, and my first meal in my new home must be memorable, dah?"

  2. It gets busy as Cody's corner man, entourage and a medic crowd into the ring to care for there fighter. The crowd seem a little upset as to the result and there are boos and hostile shouts - The odd drink is thrown in too.. Looks like still Fanta - Non of that sugary goodness hits you fortunately <_<

After a moment.. the ref grabs your arm and leads you into the centre of the ring.. Cody on his other side.

"Aaaand the winner. The beast from the East.. Borrrrrrrr-oris!" He holds up your arm triumphantly to a chorus of some cheers and boos"

"Give a cheer for the galiant loser of this bout.. Cooooo-ODY!" The ref raises his arm (the good arm :D ) and the crowd go mad with cheering. He's still their fav"

The ref growls into your ear - slipping a piece of paper into your hand. "Collect your winnings out the back, son - consider leaving that way too. You did good today"

The crowd are still baying as you slink

stroll - fixed that for ya B)
    - away.. You don't see Dimitri or Magda

Boris clutches the paper and heads to the designated area to collect his winnings - while scanning the crowd for any untoward behavior which might require further action.

The match was as short as expected and required far less effort than planned, but all that sweat and spittle flying off that young punk has soiled my clothes and I need to change into something... clean. Dimitri better be waiting for me back here or there will be hell to pay, Boris thinks to himself as he navigates through the spectators.

  3. @Boris - Going to flesh out background a little.

Colonel Podovsky - He's the guy who ran your unit with an iron fist. A man you learned to hate and fear in equal measures, a man without emotion, one who never accepted failure and with a zealous devotion to the mother Russia.. A grad A hard bastard basically

Could you let me know - Did you complete that last mission and were your actions at odds with the rest of the unit?

Russian mafia - It was their network that smuggled you over to America - It is to them that you owe your debt.

The mission was completed successfully and without complications. It was the uneasy felling that had been building and the post action press coverage that cemented my decision to go to ground. Is my new "friend" from the ship - the one who brought me to the fights - my contact with the Mafia, or do I still have to make contact with them now that I've arrived in NC?

  4.

A red mist of rage descends and you can see the face of Colonel Podovsky screaming at you "Po'shyol 'na hui!". He squirms hard, striking at your cyberarm to try to break the iron grip but to no avail. You moves weren't as fast but your aim is true. as you hit him once, then again, and again.. and with that last strike a sharp 'crack'

Suddenly the ref is in your face, his arm reaching across your opponent protecting him from another strike - He growls "It's over - back off"

Boris's vision clears and he glares at the ref in his face, left hand poised to drop another blow and cyber arm lightly twisting the mangled meat it's gripping - "You have my money then, dah?"

  5. With the wind knocked out of his sails you easily grab an arm and he screams out in pain as your hand clamps on tight.

Holding the arm in the iron grip of his massive cyberarm, Boris begins to rain blows on his opponents elbow -

"Sukin syn, you cry like little girl," he calls out.

  6. You're quick, but Cody's reactions are lighting fast and he slips to one side as you steam on by heading for the ropes..

As you pass he shifts nimbly on the balls off his feet.. his right leg flicking out to execute a perfect back kick..

.. Whether his balance was off or blood on the floor it doesn't matter. His expression turns from smugness to 'Oh shit' as his left leg slips out from under him and he hits the ground hard.

[no need to role initiative for this round - choose an action and roll]

You are ignoring the crowd but their screams go up an octave.

Boris's cyberarm flashes out as he attempts to grab an appendage of the downed fighter.

(Going for an attempted grapple on an arm or leg)

  7. Yep - that makes sense. I'll do those kind of rolls to keep the narrative flowing

I'm cool with you handling the rolls for my guy as well. Easier for me if I just describe what I'm attempting and you handle the dice math and hit me back with a description of what goes down.

  8. @Tiger,

Your opponent (Lets call him Cody), clicks his neck, puts up his hands in a steady guard and takes a step towards you.

**Roll Initiative and add REF. Describe what you'd like to do**

Tiger - the grizzled fighter in front of you slaps you on the side of your face with his glove..

Are you just going to stand there and take it like a bitch? biggrin.gif

Now that he's approached so close..... AND the speedware has kicked in - 3d6 roll of 14 + 7 REF + 3 for speedware = 24

Boris dives in to his opponents midsection and attempts to drive him in to the concrete.

    Sambo skill of 3 + REF of 7 + 3d6 roll of 10 = 20 on the takedown

    (here's hoping  )

  9. @Tigerguard: Your $500 is snatched away by the ref and there is a flurry of activity as the crowd place their bets.

Dimitri takes you to your corner, and doesn't say anything. Taking the duffel and your cash he steps ringside with Magda - leaving you with a reassuring squeeze to the shoulder.

(You've placed a bet with $500. Is Dimitry just looking after the rest?)

$500 is my share in to the pot. My opponent matched that and raised $500 - basically putting $1000 to my $500 (giving me 2:1 odds in the parlance). The other $1000 I gave Dimitri with the request that he or Magda use it to bet on me winning. If the fighter is offering 2:1 odds I have to hope the bookies in the crowd are getting the cash flowing by offering even higher stakes.

As for my opponent, I do my best to keep my expression blank (Cool roll?) - after all this is just a street fight, not the combat I've survived - and pay attention to him. Is he pacing, bouncing, shadow boxing, working the crowd? Grace and confidence can be overcome by brutal, unrelenting violence - and that is something Russian special forces excel in B)

OOC: now I don't know, never had a tattoo made IRL. Still, Siskin is an artist. And a pro in the tattoo trade. So if it is customary to bill a customer "for consultation", I will bill him accordingly. If not, or if it is up to artists' discretion, I won't, hoping he'll come back the other day and let me bill him for the tattoo itself.

Many local artists we've dealt with have a consultation fee that is applied to your first session if you decide to go through with the tattoo. A lot of times though, that is if we are looking for custom designed pieces that they are going to spend time creating between the consult and application. It helps guarantee that the customer returns for the actual work.

Would definitely side with artists' discretion though as it is your shop and your bills to be paid, and he didn't take time away from a scheduled customer.

  10. @ Tigerguard "Well son, that depends on you and if you have any friends out there that will bet on and for you. The more you bet, the more you'll win. If you have someone out there betting for you, the more you win. Now if you lose, you lose what you bet and what they bet." say's a grizzled old back man in a torn up refs shirt. "Of course, there's always a nice tip to the friendly ref too if you don't mind."

Boris turns to Dimitri and holds his duffle towards him,"Will you hold this for me drugya?" After Dimitri takes it Boris unzips the top and rummages around before removing a roll of cash. Peeling 500eb from it he holds the remaining roll up to Dimitri. "This is 1000eb my friend, it is all I have left to my name. Please will you place the bet for me and hopefully we will eat well tonight, eh Magda?" Boris shrugs off his shirt and places it in the bag before closing it.

Boris turns back to the ref - "Here is 500, I trust my opponent will match that wager?"

@Gratwin & Tigerguard - After money in exchanged the ref starts to clear the ring "Alright everybody Alright settle down now! We have a new contender to our arena..... Bad Maaan Boris! And he lifts Boris's hand into the air. There's some clapping and murmuring from the crowd. "Is there anyone in the crowd who is willing to welcome our new friend!?!" after a few seconds another man moves to the front and steps into the arena. He's about 5'10" - 5'11" and solidly built Americanesse. After he steps in he gives a disdainful look at your cyberarm.

"I'll match him and raise him another 500!"

Boris stands silently evaluating this man. [@Wraith - can I get an Awareness/Notice check for cyber and / or important characteristics?]

  11. Boris stands 6' tall, and weighs approximately 195 pounds, with shoulder length wavy brown hair and a well trimmed beard. His clothes and duffle bag are high end designer brand gear, and looks like he should be welcoming you to the latest club or rave rather than standing in a pit ready to fight.

Boris is wearing designer black slacks over Ruf Tread black boots. His long sleeve burgundy button up shirt is custom fit to accommodate his over-sized cyberarm - a true beauty of Russian engineering. It is slightly longer than a standard arm, the shoulder joint is massive compared to American cyber, there is a mass of cables, no refined edge - it is all blocks and rectangles flowing together - and no chrome. It is industrial and functional. After he shrugs off his dress shirt you see he has a designer brand white tank top underneath.

OOC - for a quick mental pic, check out actor Alex Veadov in either Equalizer or Act of Valor, he pretty much captured the style I envisioned.

  12. Boris looks down at his extended, unshaken hand and notes the question in her voice as Katarina converses with Dimitri. Shrugging, he falls into step as they head around to the "arena." Boris swivels his head from side to side briefly taking in the spectators and then focuses his attention on the action in the pit.

  13. First impression, does Katarina seem to be a native speaker or is her russian accented? I would like to get a feeling for who and what she is in all this while also taking a quick mental note of who the spectators are. Are they yelling out in Russian or English? Or is it Spanish or German? Or is simply a mix of languages and the fans seem to congregate by nationality. Just a second or two to take it all in before I focus on the fighters and styles.

  14. Boris nonchalantly eases his thumb into his pants pocket to make sure his wallet stays safely in place, while slowly drumming his fingers on his thigh.

Extending his cyber hand towards the woman to shake hers in greeting, "Zdravstvuyte, ya Boris."

  15. Boris looks out at the city and all of the sites of this new country - so different and yet people are all the same it seems.

A fight or two while I seek proper work I think to myself. Get my bearings and understand the lay of the land and become a respectable American. It can't be too difficult to find honest work in a place like this.

"It seems we must visit this underground then, and see if these Americans are put off by a little Novgorod newtech," I say as I work the joints and pistons of my arm. "We can not let your wife think that I will be a burden to you."

  16. I shoulder my duffle bag and follow Dimitri.

"I watched some kung fu flicks when I stayed in Japan, does that count?" I say with a smile. "Can't seem to find any sparring partners to train with though," I continue as I pretend to inspect my metal fingers and reflexively open and close them.

"Your wife, she is pretty, da? Does she have a sister?" I nudge Dimitri 'lightly' with my cyberhand and bounce on the balls of my feet in a mock fighting style circling him. I ham it up a bit so that I can check the sight lines behind and around us - can never be too sure who might be following or who can really be trusted.

  17. I emailed a few questions - we've set the arrival one in the first post so I'm good with that but still looking for answers to the others. If you didn't get the email let me know and I will pm them to you here.

  18. Boris raises his face to the heavens and closes his eyes, concentrating on the rain as it falls upon him. Perhaps this shower will wash away some of his sin. More likely that it is just the devil pissing on him and gloating over his future, Boris thinks with a slight chuckle.

"Da druga," Boris answers, also in a heavy accent. "I must find work and soon if I am to repay my travel." Lowering his head and looking Dimitri in the eye he continues, "I have few skills and no friends in this place."

  19. I've sent Boris to Wraith for his approval, just waiting to hear back before buying gear. Also hoping to hear more of the vibe of the story so I know if I need to tweak him a bit. The original scene seemed to be street level, but now I'm wondering if we are teetering more along the curb between the street and gutter. I'm fine with whatever, just trying to understand where I'm driving my guy from.

  20. I've tweaked Boris and sent him to Wraith for a review. Been some talk about blood sport fighting, which I guess would be a popular crowd for a talented tattoo artist.

What a motley crew we've gathered... can't wait to see the direction we go B)
