  1. Never mind him...

    He is mentally unstable. Cyberpsycho!!!

By the way, he is also an incurable munchkin, and he refuses to write background stories unless i force him.

He has played in many of my stories. If you need to find out who he is in the stories I post here, just look for the craziest character around. That`ll be him!

  2. I have played LARP for about a year. I play regularly, about once a week, but that is Vampire: The Masquerade. I am also arranging a game soon. It is a mix between Cyberpunk and WoD (Vampire, Changeling, Mage, Ghoul, Hunter). It is set in 2008 and the world is more or less controlled by the Technocracy (techno-wizard types, kind of like the AI from Matrix, for those who haven`t played Mage) and they hav started systematically eradicating all supernaturals (except the elder vampires who cooperate). The players are refugees, supernaturals who need to find a way to survive with the rest of the world hunting them.

I think it will end up with a good deal of funny situations.

By the way, anobody got some good hints for making cyberware for LARP?

  3. Quote from BaronSamedi, posted on Sep. 26 2001,23:47

He died? Did I miss something? I thought he made it out?

Yes, Morgan died. He was fighting Adam Smasher in a DaiOni powered armor, and they both fell down from the roof of the Arasaka Tower, if I`m not wrong.

  4. Sure, and I am not trying to say tha tyou have to be a munckin if you like guns, combat, gear and stuff like that. And it can all be used to enhance gaming (hell, what would the game be without rules, combat and all the funny newtech), but it is when a player cares more about this than he/she cares about the roleplaying that it starts to annoy me, and then I am considering the term munchkin to be used.

A story should be a lot more than just a bunch of dice rolls and death descriptions. It is roleplaying, not roll-playing.

Anyway, I see your point, and I also like to modify the rules. I have combat in my stories, and I have almost pure combat-stories (though luckily not often, and only when I am not prepared).

And about that part with the good gaming group transforming the game from a slugfest to an entertaining experience; yes I know exactly what you mean. My players have done that in a good deal of those "pure combat stories" and with great results.

And I also have a player going under the term "unsalvagable"

  5. I don`t know who here have read the Hardwired sourcebook, but it contains another damage and armor system. It is a bit unbalanced in my opinion, but some of the weapons there make sushi out of even the heaviest armor (example given: 30mm gatling damage 60d10 with standard rounds, 90d10 with DPU. Also, weapons can outclass armor instead of just penetrating.(it can be a bit much to describe here right now)

Anyway, I didn`t really think we were going to discuss weapons and armor here, or what?:)

  6. I fully agree.

Another thing. Never let your players find those websites which give instructions on how to annoy your gamemaster.

Don`t  even go there yourself. A bit too tempting.

Yet another thing... don`t help your players survive. Make them feel the consequences of their actions. If they do something that will most likely get them killed, then most likely, it should kill them.

Let your players learn that they must take responsibility for their actions:angry:

  7. Oh, is that so. You`ve never played CP2020? And you`re still using this mainly cyberpunk forum? I`m impressed.

Anyway, I must say it is nice to hear that not all of you are into powergaming. And spudfairy, I also love LARP. It gives life a new meaning (and the rest of that crap etc.)

    :D:D:D

  8. I have been a member of this forum for a short time, but already I see how much of this place is used to discuss guns, damage, combat, cyberware and everything even remotely munchkin. I thought that maybe there were someone here who shared my opinion. Cyberpunk is more than just combat and new gadgets. If it wasn`t, it should have been called Dungeons&Drugdealers (from the core book).

Please post here and say you`re not all munchkins!:(:)

  9. Fear Factory is good. Most really heavy music is good.

Fear Factory`s album Obsolete contains several tracks which are kind of Rockerboy-rebellious. The inlay also contains a really cool cyberpunkish story to go with the music.:D

  10. I don`t like the fact that all the cool personalities of the Cyberpunk world get killed. What would the world be like without Morgan Blackhand. Even if characters never meet him, he is always kind of a father figure for all solos, someone they want to live up to. He is a person who gets admiration from solos (and everyone else) all over the world. Just killing him like that kind of takes the edge off the whole game setting.:(

  11. How long before cyberpunk is a reality?

I really don`t think we have to wait until 2020. Most of the technology could probably be achieved within the next ten to fifteen years. Nanotech could be here before 2025, and the flying car will soon be ready for the open market.

    Scary!!!!:knife:

  12. Thanx for the compliment, and I think the whole thing could have a tendency to f##k up the entire cyberpunk world. Still, I`m not going to play it all by the book. I think I`m going to add in a whole lot of my own ideas and plots, but have some of the ideas from the book as a base plot. But I can see what you think, and I have to agree to a certain point.

    Thanks for your opinion. :)

  13. I am soon going to play through the entire Fourth Corporate War (Stormfront, Shockwave and hopefully Aftershock)

I am just wondering if someone who have played it could give me some hints or some do`s and don`ts. I am also wondering if the third book Aftershock is out in stores yet. I haven`t seen it.:(

  14. Hello! It`s me again. Back with more stories (at least one).

This one is actually not finished yet, but we are well on our way.

It all started in a night club. In a dark corner, the players are attempted robbed by three gangers. They manage to kill one ganger, scare away another and capture the last. (The captured one is actually another player) The ganger (Rydell) tells the players why they tried to rob them. It appears they were going to fix a large weapons deal, but someone took the cash they were going to use to buy the guns. The guns were to be sold to another gang later for a larger sum of money.

Deciding to take over the operation, the players find out they could need some help. One player is a corporate and suggests they should ask Arasaka for help. After a long discussion, they decide that it is worth a try, and they g to visit the Arasaka tower.

The corporate player has his own little agenda in all this. He was earlier fired from Infocomp and he really holds a grudge against them. He thinks that he can get the cash needed to finish the operation by robbing an Infocomp computer equipment transport. In he process, he will also get his revenge. He just needs a good weapon from Arasaka to take down the AV transport.

When the players visit Arasaka, it appears that the Aras are very interested in the leader of the gang the deal is with, and they make a proposal for the players: You get us Adam (the gang leader), and we give you the guns you need as well as a nice amount of cash.

The players accept (of course. Who would say no to a couple thousand bucks?) and stay at the Arasaka tower for the next days. They will work with one of Arasaka`s best snipers and one of their best interrogators. The interrogator takes care of the leader of Rydell`s gang (they need to find out all the specifics of the operation) and the players are a bit terrified with his methods.

After all preparations are made, they go out to take down the transport. It appears that the sniper they are working with is even less caring than the interrogator as she kills two civilians without hesitation, just to get a good spot to shoot fronm (their appartment). One player is working as a spotter for the sniper, while the other three are waiting in a club down on the street. Two hours remain until the transport arrives...

    (to be continued)

  15. Oh the stories I could put out here! I must have the craziest group of players in the world, and writing down all of them would take forever. But I will give it a try. PREPARE FOR LOTS OF BIG BAD AND STUPID STORIES!:)

Story 1: The first one would be the very first story I played. I had only had the book for about two days and was still a bit uncertain at some points. Anyway, we were three guys, me and two players. They must have played the most kinky characters ever, and I really could not stand them. They decided to go rob some guys and drove up alongside a car on their motorcycle. Smashing his window, they shoved a gun through the hole and made their request. After that,  the were desperately trying to get away, as an NCPD AV-4 came flying in to bust them. Not knowing what kind of weapons an AV-4 had, one of my players suggested it was armed with dual Tsunami Arms Helix auto-shotguns. A bit reluctantly, I agreed. Of course, the first burst cut off the arm of the first player (the one controlling the bike) and he lost his balance and flipped over on one side, sliding along the street on his wound (ouch!!!;). Anyway, they managed to get away, but the player without the arm needed a replacement. With his current humanity of about seven, this little cybernetic pushed him over the edge. The story ended as both players were killed by the cops down at the marina (He was eating wooden crates, for God`s sake.) Too bad!!! (yeah, it was a newbie story)

  16. I think androids could make a good addition to a campaign. Having an NPC replicant or android helping the players (or working against them) without them knowing what it is, could be a fun idea. It could create some great scenes and a good deal of plotting.
