  1. As an American, I think Bush will probably not get everything he wants in the end.  The speech was needed, but it seems to be a bit too open ended.  The train will most likely start to loose steam shortly after a majority of the Bin Laden terrorist group has been either apprehended or killed.  I fully expect a stronger national defense and more cooperation between our friends to help stop terrorism but a sustained military conflict raging over multiple countries in various regions of the world can not be sustained by the will of the American people.

The only possibility a sustainable war can occur is of course if the worst actually happens.  Continued bloodshed of US citizens in the hundreds from reprisals each one could feul and additional year of warfare, acycle of near unending confilct of terrorist strike then investigation and reprisal conflict.:(

I would also like to thank Mr Blair for showing up and giving his support.

  2. Just wondering if the text on the Cyber-City webpage is still very difficult to read for those using IE.  Someone on the RTAL message board said it and showed a washedout looking version of that webpage to me it did look hard to read but is this just because of his computer?  My computer comes up with a good solid image.

    Golgotha.

it almost is too late for you to change a nicknameon a board we all know you on and I was not really into adding any extra names to the end of the Cyber- City thing.  I will see if I can run a poll on the subject and see what everyone else thinks.

  3. I like to stick to dual purpose rounds, just about best for every situation.

BTW:  if you are going to do this:uzi:   then you better do this  :9mm:  or you might get this  :knife:

  4. Hey, I got that idea and have been stalled on writting up the whole adventure about a cyberpsycho who thinks they are a midevil Knight but instead has full body plates.  He has a hardcore street gang and they all ride mechanical horses ( Harley Davidson Thundergods ).  They fight injustice but they are also breaking the law.  Thus enters a Media, the girl in distress and some local boostergangers.

I am working on it for a good in between adventure, adventure or what to do between extractions.

  5. How often do you get that lucky shot?  Players are always striving for that bit of an edge that extra punch.  This is a good portion of what Cyberpunk is about and it also makes it easier to track them down later on by the police of corp's all they got to do is check for ammo signatures.

  6. Living in Texas where every yahoo redneck has both a shotgun in the back of thier truck on a gun rack and a concealed pistol, I will tell you what I think.

nomad families would probably get thier children aclimated to rifles at an early age, just as soon as they could hold a .22 rifle and aim it.  Of course saftey would be a good concern and children by the age of 12 would normally be able to field strip thier birthday present and clean it properly.  I bet even the girls would be tough weapon skills but probably as a second though and at a little older age than most boys.

If you don't let the little kids in the city use guns then how are the real nasty evil bad guys gonna get the drop on the players.  I use Cyberpunk to let all the nasty evil thoughts that one could have come out.

next time your players are coming back from something a kid with a grocery sack could be carrying a radio detonated claymore mine that some nice man gave to him hidden under the groceries the homekid is going to bring back to his mom.

Small kids playing out front of a crack or whore house in cities in the US has benn going on for a long time now.  Give those kids a toy looking polymer one shot cannon.  Once they warn the guys inside have they attempt to shoot it out with the players.  The kids are easy to slaughter they have no armor and poorly designed guns, but what are they players going to do?

These problems bring a good moral problem for the players to face and adds darkness and gloom to any game.  What happens when the kids mother sees her son blasted away by some supercharged solos.  Does she call the police?  Take out her own shotgun from below the kitchen sink, and call the cops.  She could hire some of the local gang kids to shadow the players and take out her revenge bringing a kind of never ending cycle of hate and revenge as the players kill lots of people from this one nieghborhood.

Ok, I know I am evil but hey it's cyberpunk.  There are no tweeting birds in the trees because the homeless family occuping the burned out building down the street cut down the tree and cook the bird and it's eggs on the wood from the tree for diner.

  7. I may be late in saying this but like Pyscho Phipps, I have put together my own computer one for my mom and several for other people from parts they had left over back into something usefull.  I have also soildered some of my own loopbakc plugs for testing com ports, setup networks and do some of my own programming HTML, COBOL, C++ and Java.

Most of it I learned on my own COBOL and C++ I took in College and continue to take more.

Although, it would be very hard for anyone on thier own to make a processor without a giant lab and like a class 1000 clean room plus loads of tools.

  8. Not sure if I want to get into this at all.  This will probably become a long winded topic area.  In the past I have run it by the rules as laid down but, I am going now for an interim approach for new characters.

I would prefer to have the special skills remain special and make players pick at least two skills off of the skills list of that class.  After that I would allow them to pick any other skills that they wanted to make a more rounded and diverse character.  I always ended up with players putting 10 in a few skills and then ignoring the rest because they had to spend the points in those few skills.  I think this would allieviate some of the super powered solo players need to have ultra powerful characters.

Thumper, that was "spoken like a true muppet", as the brits would say.  this guy has evaded capture for YEARS now(with a no-questions $2 million bounty on his head) and has an extensive network of people who will harbor him ALL OVER THE WORLD!

The U.S.: "Hand Bib Laden over, dammit!"

The Taliban: "Sorry, but he's not here anymore.  Try again later."

The U.S.: "I SAID, "HAND HIM OVER!" OR I'LL INVADE YOU"

The Taliban: "and I SAID that he's not here!"

The U.S.: "YOU'RE LYING!  WE'RE GONNA KICK YER ASS!" *mental images of a 5-year-old having a temper tantrum because they didn't get a cookie*

The Taliban: "Oh yeah?!?  Well, Allah is on our side and you're gonna have a war that makes Vietnam look like sunday brunch at the country club, ya infidel bastards!"

Bin Laden: *takes another sip from his fruit smoothy while basking in the sun at the Bahamas, when his cellular phone rings* "Hello, Bin Laden here.  The U.S. is invading to get me?  Ready the holy warriors for a fight to the death!  Their place in heaven is assured!  CYA!" *pushes the end button, sighs, and grabs the magazine to finish that article he was reading about how the "U.S. is gonna git that no-good bastid even if we have to invade Afganistan to do it".

    rolleyes.gif Mark(psycho)Phipps(HAHAHA!)

Well everyone can be a critic.  I don't see you offering a solution.  Tell us what would you do to apprehend him?  Would you just forget about it, maybe go to church and just pray he never strikes again?  Are we all going soft here?  It seems the people in the US just don't have the stomach for war anymore, everyone has been just sitting around with all there nice electronic gadgets and relaxing.  Maybe this attack will all just blow over in a few months like what happened to the US Cole, The US armed forces in two locations in Saudi Arabia.

Next time It will be a Nuke then.

If we Americans, I would not force anyone else to join in, do not disrupt his commerce and money supply ( Afghanistan is amoun the worlds leading suppliers of Opium, great money machine) then he will eventually get a Nuke and strike somewhere, maybe your hometown.  Osama bin Laden is a person bent on a mission to put the world under his finger and he is starting to succeed.  He has stopped international air travel and he is gaining power by the day.  Will it actually have to come to the point where he gains enough influence to become a Hitler for this generation.  Ever time he succeeds he gains followers.  Of course you may also say when we fight him he gains them faster but people are not born as fast as an assualt rifle can gun them down.

It is just sad to here that pain and suffering makes everone cringe.  The more we wait the worse it will get.

Go ahead and Flame away.  Vent your anger here rather than actually facing the problem.  I am just glad you nay sayers are not in big government jobs deciding what to do.  Sometimes government has to do what is unpopular to protect the people.

  10. The reason that we must invade Afghanistan is not to attack any peacefull civies but to get at Osama Bin Laden who is being protected there by the Taliban.  The Taliban are not willing to hand him over, would you just ignore that he did this then?  I agree on your point that bombing will do no good but we must ( Americans at least ) surround the country and enclose an ever tightening noose around it until we capture him.  If anyone resists then I guess they will suffer a dreadful fate at the hands of our troops.  These attacks of this kind just can not and will not continue even if I personally have to help fund a private mission to remove this person.:knife:

  11. Maybe if the corp was real nice it would offer an incentive plan for a behavioral modification chip implant to allow you to actually trick your brain into believing you enjoy working there.  Of course they would take a percentage out of your pay each paycheck until you had it paid off.  Any employees that do not appear happy with thier jobs might get a demotion, and therefore the chip becomes almost manditory and they are making money off of you while they have you enslaved and your money never leaves the company.  For example most companies offer a discount maybe 10% or so on thier products and then you buy products from your own company you are paid for your service but you give your money right back to them, now how sick is that?:P

This morning when I arrived at work and walked upstairs and prepared for my daily job I noticed something kind of odd.  My work area was arrayed with dozens of boxes with shipping labels from Eqypt and Pakistan all around and shortly thereafter I was nearly surrounded by a group of arabic people brandishing box cutters.

    to be continued later.....

So how did I handle this tense situation.  Well I just told them to open up the boxes and to put the merchandise into the stockroom if it did not fit out on the floor fixtures.

I work with them everyday but until now I just had not realized how much of a coincedence this was.

  13. I believe the reason cruise missile strikes have not occured is that there is nothing relly left in Afghanistan to really destroy.  Most of the Capital city still lies in ruin and is not being rebuilt.  For the US to send a clear message we will have to capture or kill Bin Laden on the ground with ground troops and take out his 200 or so radical folowers also the surround him.  As has been shown in the past bombing does not do any real good except to eliminate static ground assets.  In Afghanistan there are not large static target worth destroying.  Also former wars there have proved that the only way to remove someone is with ground troops ( infantry) without vehicles, they are nearly useless there, and air support from attack helicopters.

    A second item:

  14. This is just the thing that gets these terrorists going and hating our culture.  It seems some people just feed off of the evil and turn a buck.  It might work for some people but I am just not into it.

  15. angry.gif Late breaking news!!!  They have tried it again at JFK and Laguardia Airports to take over two large commercial jets leaving for LA today.  half of them were stopped when they tried to pass security with knives the othhers were actually on the plan and swat teams boarded fromthe rea door and captured them.

it does not look like they intend to stop until they are all killed or captured.

All the reserve forces in the US have been called to active duty and even the Air national guard here in houston are actively flying air combat patrols.  Some stupid person disregarded the flight ban and tried flying around Bush's ranch in Texas and was forced out of the sky (they did not say how they forced him down?):rocket:

  16. The way I would like to see it work would be to open most of the skills to any use and removing some of the restrictive character generations skills.

For example Solos get combat sense and must pick at least one projectile and one hand to hand or martial art and leave the rest to players choice.

  17. Well I will tell you what.  If I had either the choice of a quick death going splat on the ground or slow death by smoke and burning, I would rather jump.

News reports said that Bin Laden applauded the deaths and is very happy the people all died.  This alone should be enough reason to bring him in.

I just wonder if anyone will notice the bombing of Afganistan, they have been at war since the 1980's, and most of the towns are already small bits of rubble.

The smartist thing the Taliban ( Gov of Afghanistan ) could do would be to invite the US into the country to search high and low to aprehend Bin Laden.
