If you had two combatants who where equal in martial arts abilities but in real life one was 5 ft 7.5 in (Bruce Leee) in height and the other was 7 ft 2 ( Kareem Abdul-Jabbar ) shouldn't the taller one get some type of bonus because he's got a much longer reach via his kicks & punches ?.

I might up his BOD stat but as I understand it Body Type reflects how strong you are , not how tall you are. And how would you reflect this advantage for really tall opponents say 9 to 10 ft tall or higher?.

Any thoughts or suggestions most welcome.

  2. Thanks for the link straycatalyst.

I like the idea of the blood doping meaning you can stay underwater for longer and theoretically taking a bit longer to bleed out.

Another thought is Erythropoietin (EPO) a naturally occurring hormone, secreted by the kidneys. It causes an increase in red cells so that the user (usually an athlete )can endure more without getting fatigued.

As it's Cyberpunk maybe use a new manufactured blood which has a lot of enhanced features for the user. Perhaps carrying a form of dye to have it look different color , dark blue ,fluorescent or mercurial ?. After all if you're going to be shot you'd want your wounds to look stylish.

You expect the XXXX to really hit the fan ,what would you do to get more of an edge even if it's only a slight advantage?

You've got a character that's going to go into a live or die situation that will be very physically exhaustive. i.e lots of gun play , possible hand to hand fighting and a chance of chasing or being chased by heavy machinery. But this is his score of a life time, his make or break if you like. Things are dire & desperate:-

In his preparation for the mission along with getting his equipment together and inspecting his fire power etc he could:-

Get 2 pints of his own blood that he's previously frozen and thaw it out then inject himself ( autologous blood doping). This should give him enhanced endurance so he'll be able to go longer harder and faster than usual. if he gets shot badly he'll have longer to live because he's got an extra 2 pints to bleed out!. Mentally this would also be good to know.

The down side is higher risks of embolism , strokes or heart attack. But in this situation it might just be the edge that keeps him alive he just can't afford not to.

In a couple of weeks I'll be getting my kids to test drive the cyberpunk universe. Knowing what they're like from other types of rpgs and however much I'll try eventually their player characters will be mangled, dead or possibly worse. So I intend to use a cortical stack type device (borrowed from Altered Carbon / Eclipse Phase Rpg) which will record their most active recent events , log clues , character stats etc ,a type of computer Save Game if you like.

When they get into a situation way over their heads and they end up dying or dead I'll have a Trauma team fly in and if the body isn't viable then remove the cortical stack and replay in a new borg / clone whatever.

Has anybody tried this Cortical stack device in the cyberpunk rpg universe with success or does it severely alter the Cyberpunk flavor?. After all character death would no longer mean death.

Perhaps by applying a severe penalty to prevent player abuse?.

All thoughts and ideas most welcome.

Wow !. Jaw dropped and a hush descended. I had to just sit there and just imagine it , that type of physical presence , literally the intimidation factor. Cor blimey !

I could see CSWAT ordering a couple of those.

Maybe used against smuggling , utilized as an anti submarine weapon. Putting holes in the conning tower or hull.

You should give it some type of name , christen the beast.

    Just Wow!.

  6. Like the above pic !

Okay so using nanites large scale is starting to sound like it's a dead duck. But I still think that because the technology is theory today it should be feasible in the future. Maybe a fictitious scientific law that will state that nanites can not replicate and that their lifetime is limited to 1 hour when released.

Then how about using nanites on a smaller scale for instance:-

    1) Terrorists are holding some hostages at gunpoint. Swat release a blend of nanites which will enter the building ,(maybe an operator is directing a the nanite cloud via joystick), and they some how covertly mess will the terrorists hand held weapons maybe to cause a blockage in the barrel , mess with the trigger mechanism , cut out the electronics or fiddle with the primer in all the ammo. Enough to cause a definite high percentage chance that the weapon will miss fire when the terrorists try to exterminate the hostages or fire upon the Swat Guys.

Now obviously if the Swat guys could do this why not just have the nanites incapacitate , mentally manipulate or just kill the terrorists ? Why?...erm..Because of the (Jack) Torrence law ! which states:-

"The use of a microscopic technology system i.e nanites to influence or effect any human biological function , to cause harm, danger or death is expressly forbidden by the International Courts of Law. It is against the law to knowingly infest a human individual with anything that could be interpreted as a microscopic weapon. This is directly against the subjects Human Rights blah blah blah"

    2) Perhaps the Swat have to breach a wall quietly so they use a spray can of 'Termnites' nanites which when sprayed on a surface , physically weaken the brick or plaster to allow an easy entrance. Used on metal

doors and cargo containers causes a kind of near instantaneous severe corrosion.

    3) The terrorists have a large bomb which they are going to detonate. Bomb disposal guy releases a special blend of nanites which will , sensitively interrogate all of the bomb's physical components and relay the intel back to base. Maybe the nanites will attempt to alter the architecture of the bomb's CPU by severing some IC links and creating others making the bomb inert.

Meanwhile the terrorist is still ranting to the negotiator little realizing that within 20-30 mins his high yield bomb will soon be a dud.

  7. Clamping your teeth down with exertion , neck muscles cording and bulging ,veins spider webbing deeply reddening the skin. You hear an internal clink and know it can't be good. Turning your head to see wet bloody skin stretched elastically from your shoulders as your arms pull away with a loud wet ripping sound rrrrrrip !.

Ouch ! the power lift from hell. Farewell to arms...etc

Switching off the safety precautions and over maxing the chrome. Maybe a rule to put in IU?.

An m-16 to a snowball fight... now there's a thought.

In the interests of peace and mutual respect...you should of been a salesman.

As regards apologizing I think I'd rather slice my face off and feed it to the cat , or maybe slice the cats face off and eat it myself.

    Must resist apologizing...must resist...must.

    Aaaaagggghh Ok Ok aghhhh

    Hello there,

It seems that I brought a m-16 to a snowball fight. I apologize for the recent affray. I'll sit in the corner read my cyberpunk books and be a good boy.

So I say again. Sorry for any offense and if you could read over and reply to any of my posts that'll be grand.

  9.

Ah well , I suppose I'll have to use a rescue dog.

I think it was it a Tom Clancy book or game that the good guys used some type of heart beat scanner to locate terrorists who are hiding in a building.

I still like the idea of heart beat tracker:-

For instance say you were chasing a guy (who had bomb) on foot ,climbing over walls and fences etc ,went and hid in a building or amongst a moving crowd. Perhaps the scanner could track his raised heart beat (BPMs) due to effort and adrenaline of running, being hunted and possibly killed. It could be attuned to the specific audio level of a beating heart , a computer could squelch all other background noise to help with an accurate reading and only track a heart that was racing above a certain threshold. That might work in searching an abandoned building. It might work if the perp was hiding in a crowd of people if his heart has the fastest heart beat. Not so good if he mixed in with a bunch of joggers , but even than maybe his heart rate would still be higher than the rest.

On the downside if the scanner seemed to pick an ordinary looking guy out of a crowd of people would you have enough confidence in the reading to shoot the guy down.

Any ideas or thoughts most welcome.

  10. Hello there Wisdom000 , I find your comments insightful.

I'll take them on board , ponder them and probably grumpily accept them.

Thanks for taking the time to answer me. I enjoy your work with IU and actually respect the level of dedication that your Datafortress enterprise must take.

If I promise to put the carbine down , can we have a group hug?.

    Anyway cheers and cheerio.

I've toyed with the idea of using some shadowrun modules in the world of cyberpunk. But I'm sure that this is no pioneer thought I've had a few others must of done the same. So has anyone successfully integrated shadowrun (or the modules) into their game.

Myself I'd probably like to bring in the Universal Brotherhood , bug city thing perhaps stripping out the magic. The thing is does it dilute cyberpunk or alter the flavor dramatically that it no longer feels like the gritty cyberpunk world.

Surely if its good material it should be used...some how.

All comments or ideas most welcome.

Can you believe I'm a fan of playing Cyberpunk ,I just wanted to post my questions and ideas on this forum but first I have to deal with the Forum's old ladies !. BUT NO. Perhaps they want me to never to post again or perhaps they want me to play by their rules.Anyway...

Well this is the 4th day I've been involved with this little forum:-

Let me state for the record again that I'm new to this cyberpunk forum. I have some questions and I totally respect those who can give me any good and exciting answers, some of which have blown me away with their friendliness & detail If you read my previous posts and this one you will notice that I'm not here to cause trouble quite the opposite. BUT there's always a minority who want to put you in your place , explain how the the pecking order is, how it always gonna be.The message seems to be Know your place.

    Well sorry not me:-

Hello there ,senior officer Mikael van Atta , I'm finding you a bit rude as well. Let me explain:-

I seem to of stepped on some other persons toes !. It feels like a bit of a tag team against little old me.I have a feeling you're closing ranks. l thought that Mr StrayCatalyst could post for himself but obviously you felt a need to defend him / her. Loyalty perhaps ?, maybe your engaged or married even? that's fine with me let's continue..

Now I thought the way you kind of bullet pointed your comments with Primo , Quatro , Quinto was like you were counting the points off on each of your fingers. I was going to niftily reply by bullet pointing my finger comments with Ein , Zwei , Drei which would fit in the Cyberpunk credo of style over substance. But it seems a bit dull and I'd rather be read as straight to the point and blunt instead of empty gestures .

You've interpreted my post and decided to comment that I'm playing against your emotions and then you bold it with a DONT. What ! are we ten years old again are we , Mr senior officer Mikael van Atta? I hope you won't hack your calculator and re align some killer satellite and nuke me from orbit !. My apologies if you are 11 years old and that's how you do need to express yourself.

That comment about "non-man-portable, a Rheinmetall linear accelerator or LATG 37mm aren't listed in MaxMetal just for the purpose of filling blank spaces in the pages" must feel pretty good perhaps a clincher to you , but to me well WHAt !... To me it's a game not a religion ,I haven't memorized all the facts and stats on all the pages after all that would be rather nerdish.

As you say a unwritten rule of this forum is "the old hands get more barwidth" unwritten by who? You? I'm sorry but that doesn't carry any weight with me whatsoever , to you it's important to me it's irrelevant..you're only as good or 'punk relevant as the weight of your last post.

I was here just to get my posts answered , If you or your associates don't like it well please move along.

    LONG LIVE THE NEW FLESH.

All comments or ideas most welcome. (11yr olds need not apply without parental consent)

  13.

Hello there StrayCatalyst , to put it bluntly I find you rather rude. Let me explain:-

The reason I post is most definitely not due to you implying laziness on my part but perhaps instead I like reading other member's interpretations of how certain actions would fit certain rules in certain situations.

Maybe I'm wrong being a newbie and all but I couldn't find anything on Anti Ballistic glass nor Terrahertz optics (2 of my earlier posts did you read 'em?) hence that's why I posted the questions. I could of Googled and researched I suppose as you said but I thought that was one of the reasons this forum existed , to share thoughts and to encourage postings.

I didn't know that you are collectively commenting for the other members of this community ,or are you a single voice?,if they don't like my questions I'm sure they won't answer them. Your profile states that you've posted over 1600 comments and your interest is World Domination so perhaps my inquisitive posts must come across as so so tiresome and yesterdays news.

I've lurked here awhile and I've started to post here only 3 days ago!. So much for the encouragement and welcome from a 'Senior member' of these boards.

But anyway perhaps your right , maybe I should stop posting before people as you say 'get tired of doing my reading and googling for me' best leave you to your own little protective.

    I'll get me coat.

As always all comments and ideas most welcome.

  14.

This to me sounds like a cool cinematic idea to insert into my 'punk. BUT would it stretch the bounds of reality too much:-

If a shooter is a very proficient with his firearm on the ground, is it within realism to say he'd be a decent shot as a door gunner. I know that the two environments are different but he's familiar with his weapon would it take that much practice or familiarity to be able to hit a human sized target who is sitting in a office 150 floors up? It has to be a precision shot from a distance but it has to be accurate.

How difficult is it for someone to shoot with a high powered weapon such as a rifle whilst hovering in a helicopter or AV.?

If the helicopter is moving forwards at the time can the shooter still attempt to hit the target or is that just silly.

Could the guy open up with a 50 calibur rifle installed on a weapon mount from inside the airborne vehicle? I'm thinking of an airborne super sniper type guy , the helicopter gives chase and he shoots at the bad guy's cars engine blocks.

I know one has to consider vehicle speed , size of target and wind direction? Obviously prop wash will effect as well. But is it possible?

All thoughts / ideas and comments welcome.

  15.

If some task is beyond the rating of your character's cyber , I like the idea of some type of heroic / insane gesture costing him dearly. Going beyond the call of duty to do the physically impossible.

Overtaxing a piece of cyber or some other equipment to get a much needed result. But this in turn should put a strain on the equipments internal components.Putting a maximum train on the actual physical material treating it beyond the manufacturers safe operational limits until the thing starts to breakdown and quit in a bad way very very quickly.

i.e a guy with two cybered arms gripping the rear bumper preventing a car full of fat old ladies and their dogs from tipping over the edge of a cliff only to start smelling burning insulation and seeing sparking and hearing his arm's attenuators start to whine and grind as they struggle to compensate the load.

Maybe he saves the day but gets two burnt out dislocated arms for his trouble.

Any thoughts or suggestions most welcome.

  16. Now that sir is a top image ! It looks exactly how I'd want the effect to look. Do you have anymore of these images or could you explain what exactly the image is in reality.

I do like the idea of overloading the sensor systems to get the over maximum , beyond safe manufacturers operational rating , out of them , only to have them blow an overheated chip just when the character over relies on the equipment and needs it the most.

  17.

    A cyberpunk CSI question:

A borg robs a jewellery store guns down all the staff , drops the firearm and flees the scene. When the eyewitnesses describe the perp to the police it'll be:-

"Yes officer it was a Dark blue Alpha class full conversion borg what done it!"

Meanwhile back home the borg is taking a full chemical shower to remove any blood splashes e.t.c

So if you had a police line up of 8 Alpha borgs how could the eye witness pick the right one out.Borgs don't leave any fingerprints or DNA evidence at the crime scene so how could the police obtain enough evidence to make the arrest stick?

The borg could run off with all his illegal earnings and just change his metal shell to a different colour ,make or model.Surely its home free.

Realistically how could it be caught and for the police to have a watertight case to prove the borg guilty?

  18.

Considering my characters will be infiltrating a lot of urban environments.

Which martial art would you think is the most efficient at removing guards etc. I want one that can be used in tight spaces such as ventilation shafts , hallways and very small rooms and It would be nice if it could be stealthy i.e neck snaps and pressure points and nerve clusters.

I was thinking something like Jason Bourne who used a type of Krav Maga which seems fast and lethal. Some assassin guy I read about used a type of Japanese wrestling with loads of different choke holds and neck snapping/twisting but i can't remember what it's called , Karate is out because I don't think kicks could be effective in the tight spaces.

Any idea what the modern US Special Forces , Delta Force , Spetznaz or SAS use ?.

The Russians have a type of fighting which involves using a trench spade with sharpened edge which would also be nice to use.

Could anyone expand on this? As usual all comments are most welcome.

  19.

Up to what caliber in the cyberpunk world could anti ballistic glass realistically stop?

If a more powerful round pierced the glass what is the physical effect on the bullet? Is the bullets damage roll lowered because it has been 'dampened' by the surface of the glass? I was thinking of an SP around 10.

Is / could the bullets direction slightly altered so it could miss the intended target because of the way the glass is made?

Is ballistic glass much different than normal glass when things are thrown or driven into it , does it still shatter , crack and smash the same?

Any thoughts or ideas would be most welcome.

  20.

If my character manages to spray a Borg with disassembler nanites:-

    1) If the nanites 'eat' up all the chrome and armour what will be left after. Just a brain and bit of spinal column?

    2) If the borg realizes it's been sprayed what can it do to stop the nanites ,i.e if it submerged itself in water would that destroy the nanites ?

    3) Would the borgs body quickly start to malfunction or would it be destroyed too quickly?.

Grateful for any help , ideas or insight.

  21. This might sound a little uncomfortable but I do need to know:-

If a borg attempts to punch through a human ribcage to pull out a heart. (Like Judge Death)

If the heart was gripped and yanked out could it still be used as a donor organ , is there a high percentage chance?

How much Sp/Sdp does an unarmored rib cage have?

If the guy had a decentralized heart and it wasn't damaged or the borg couldn't find it what condition would the guy be in, could he still be conscious or in the fight with a fist sized hole in his chest.

If the borg did start pulling apart muscles and bones and cartilage , could an arm or leg or even a head be yanked off. Technically for a borg would this be easy or viable to do?

If the guy had his lower jaw ripped off could he still fight , the level of damage is not fatal so what level of damage is this? How would I describe or play this?

IF other internal organs be yanked out such as some intestines or bladder etc. If the guy didn't go into shock could he still fight enough to pull a explosive from his belt and detonate it / stick it on the borg ?.

How do I simulate this with the rules.

Any comments or ideas are really welcome , thanks.

  22.

I want to have a character who is tracking / searching for another character that is stuck under rubble or in wreck. He tracking them via a heartbeat scanner / locator.

    Is this is feasible,

    1) What things could block the signal? Environmental conditions, geography.

    2) Does it get louder with nerves or physical effort?

    3) If used to track enemies in buildings would it work through windows ,walls and doors etc

    4) How could you effectively dampen or hide your heart beat from being tracked.

any rules or suggestions would be welcome.
