I work in the medical field and can tell you that triage is basically the base diagnosis the doctor goes by. Matter of fact most of the time a doctor walks into a room with a chart, prepared by a triage nurse, and treats the problem from there. Diagnose Illness to me is just skill bloat. I use first aid to treat injuries in the field and med tech to handle the doctor/surgery needs. A field med tech is going to know what's what as they likely saw the injury happen. Hardly a diagnosis needed for a bullet hole that just sprouted from joe solo...

Cyberpunk is a thing of the past really. The last book put out for the game was how many years ago? Yeah we have a promise of a new system with the release of the console game, but when will that happen? Wisdom should get some props for keeping the game alive and our joneses fed for a stretch, but interest is based on influx. If nothing is going on or being put on the market, there's nothing to talk about.

But yes, at this point it's fairly clear this was terrorism and not workplace violence as Obama initially told us (anybody else getting deja vu? just me?). To the great consternation to gun grabbers everywhere, A+ rated California's gun control scheme failed to cause the perps more than a minor annoyance... so the solution is to just export those laws nation wide obviously.
But everybody just be sure to remember, we can't judge billions of Muslims based on the actions countless terrorists world wide (and also the human rights record of every every majority muslim nation on the planet). However, it's perfectly fine to treat the 100+ million American gun owners as potential criminals that need to be put on a list and have their rights restricted because it makes people FEEL safer. Maybe if i start worshiping John Moses Browning and Gaston Glock as a prophets of the one true god, liberals would back off so as not to infringe on my culture or beliefs? (we've even got the whole shia/sunni fude going on already, read any gun forum)

You have a critical problem in that I don't believe anyone here would have coherently matching game worlds...I could lay out stuff from my games, but then you'd have a Lo-Tech full-auto fest, a super-intense Transhuman experiment, or a Drone Warlord fighting a Socialist revolution...
Currently running a game on roll20 where the armor limit is 12 sp. Shockingly enough 12sp is hot enough to make most any pistol look like a chump weapon. The only thing that scares thm are rifles.

When you look on the net, there are a few different repositories for cyberpunk data. New stuff. New guns. Rules for this and that. All of it great stuff. Wisdom prolly has more stuff dedicated to cyberpunk than anyone, and I use his stuff every time I play.
What isn't really out there are adventures.
Yeah I know. I'll here a chorus of folks who draw up their own shit and that kinda jazz, but sometimes a GM needs a quick and dirty meatgrinder to run his players through, and either is too busy to draw something up or just has a idea well that has kinda run dry. With that said I am here asking folks for the 411.

Like family -- So the romance didn't work out, but the mother still accepted you. While it's awkward to run into the ex while you are there you still find yourself a welcome "uncle/aunt/nephew/niece/grandkid" in the house.
Just something I've had the good fortune to run into.
One of my favorites is the Fiance in every port. For the discerning cyberpunk who needs a new bed to sleep in EVERY NIGHT. Hey if you have seven, then your week is booked!!!

An int 2 character in my opinion would compare to the dude from sling blade, or choo choo from the final season of justified. Smart enough to function, but needs alot of guidance to get through unfamiliar tasks, and absolutely forget them ever making an awareness check.

Have you ever tried roll20.net. You can put maps on there, roll dice, hell even play with voice as opposed to all that typing. Setting a date and time for all to show, then playing can change your world.

16. Moderately successful romance with her Volleyball coach. She was sixteen he was in his late twenties. As their relationship developed she began to play better. I have also taken up martial arts, and devote alot of time making sure justice is served.
26. This year i managed to pull a very distraught woman from a very bad situation. She and her children were being abused by her husband and it was a very bad case of abuse. The man in question is a financial advisor to the mayor. Getting his wife out was only one step. A little Private investigation and he was accepting money from all sorts of shady people for an even shadier land deal. We blew the whistle. The investigation lost him his job, but he quickly landed another. He hates me with a passion for this, yet avoids me in public, but promises he and a few of his 'boys' will claim retribution.
27. Secret exposed about my long romance and it being started when I was underaged. Ken is going to try and sell the story of seducing a young volleyball player as a troubled romance story. Of course he will paint himself the victim in an attempt to gain both money and sympathy.

A Local private eye who works out of the Kleeman district. His agency generally handles the little stuff. Scams, Welfare/disability fraud, cheating spouses, and the like. He isn't a high profile detective, but he learned the craft from the Night City Police Department. At first he did the other stuff for a little cash under the table. When he realized he could make more money in the private sector, he put in his resignation and began working the job full time. When he needs an extra hand he hires cops, ex-cops, and friends who can handle themselves. His rep has gotten him a few city contracts, and Dorothy almost always pushes for him when a P.I. is needed.

Sarah is a social worker for the Night City metro area and her specialty is child services. When she isn't working she has a completely different hobby, as she is the local master of the martial art Kaliope. While the martial art itself is fairly new, and definately obscure, it is also anchored in tradition. Students are not only taught how to protect themselves, but also about self discipline. When one of their own falls, the secret dojo meeting is called and the offender pays for his deeds. More than one badass criminal has landed at the steps of the Night City Police Department with wild stories about getting beaten up by girls.

Sgt. Mcguffy works out of the Little Italy precinct. While he is a road Sargeant he aids in planning and placement of the shelter women and kids. His knowledge on gangs and turfs gives Dorothy a way to truly put victims out of reach. One of her tactics is placing the women in shelters inside enemy turf. Being closed off no one knows who the victims are or the affiliations they have. But if the abuser does find out, is he really going to risk dying?

A member of the Aldecado Nomad pack and a longtime aqaintence of Turner's. Lynch and Turner met during an autograph session in nevada, and they kept in touch. As a fixer Carla keeps her abreast of things going on with the street. Essentially if one of her charges is in danger, or she knows someone needs a little help, she drops a dime to get them some aid. On the flip side Turner calls and gets information about street rats who might be a problem down the road. It's been a very good relationship where both have come out ahead.

Pastor Albright is a penecostal preacher who runs a church in the Wood's Chapel district. Not only is he a good source of spiritual aid for those in need, he is connected to more than a few business owners in the Night City area. In other words he is a good person to go to if someone needs a job. H's also a great partner to have in fundraising. While he is not a fan of cyberware, he doesn't denounce those who use it.

A secretary who works in the mayors office. She is a holdover from the last two mayors and doesn't favor the backdoor deals, and shady nature of Mr. Rock and Roll. She is kept around because she knows exactly how to avert crisis, provide emergency resourses when needed, and deal with all manner of issues. Mostly she is good for hot political gossip which occasionally bears fruit as something more sinister.

Mara Lanshire is an edgerunner courier who happens to be an heir to the Lanshire fortune. No one knows exactly how much the family is worth, but it's alot. Mara is a great contact for two reasons. First she is a great street contact to have, and always has her fingers on the pulse of the city. Second she is still in close contact with the family and rich folks always need a tax write off. Sorry...feel particularly melancholy about the way things are going at least in this country.
There is plenty of canon that suggests that supercities and or sectors could spring up. Judge Dredd comics and movies are the first things that jump to mind when you brought it up. Then of course you have Divergent and the Hunger Games which both have that concept. Game wise I suppose it could work and Night City, the long running gem in cyberpunk is a reflection of the concept.
Personally I like to think of cyberpunk as the modern world somewhat. Where you could be hired to do a job guarding a strip club one day, and the next week your hired to bust up a drug ring in seattle, after that a human trafficking ring in canada, rescuing south american freedom fighters in Brazil, and finally playing escort to some high profile celeb in europe. Your concept could definately work, it's simply not how I've grown used to playing.
I would give it a try for damn sure though

Take a look around at the world as it stands....our society IS breaking up.
It really started with Trayvon Martin and Zimmerman, and it's spread like wildfire. Riots and looting in Ferguson and Baltimore. Protests against police. I even saw a news story where the Baltimore P.D. might be dismantled and a federal law enforcement takes over. If it keeps going this way our world is gonna fall into complete anarchy and martial law, or vigilante justice will be all we have.
It certainly doesn't seem like the same America that I grew up in and maybe what we've seen in the cyberpunk canon is more prophecy than fiction. Maybe Robert E. Howard was right....

I'd say a city p.d. would likely be the entry level for law enforcement. Most corp cops likely put in some street time in the city before making the jump, unless they sold their soul to a corporation and went through some manner of corporate policing thing.
The ideology on the police in 2020 is somewhat nebulous. Basically as a city cop you work the gangland shitholes and your lucky if your not picking rounds out of your body armor nightly. Corp cop jobs are called cushy. Arasaka is the private police force most corps turn too if they don't have their own, which I would guess would be the only corporation, aside from maybe militech, who would even have a law enforcement program. With their jobs being so cushy you would basically be comparing city pd Sgt James Doakes to corp recruit Paul Blart Mall cop with the same time in the field. Because that city officer is gonna be in the shit and know how to hold his own. That corp guy might know a little but he's likely depending on ware and fear of his corporate masters to keep the bad guys at bay.
Which leads me to believe that the city police force is likely always losing talent to the corps. Pretty much your getting cops, already trained, experienced in law, likely to have been in a firefight or two, and all you have to do is reprogram them for corporate work and give them a nice pay bump.
That's just my two cents on the rationale...and streetdragons ideal was likely pretty spot on.

Hi I'm Arasaka Patrol employee Rick Grimes. I work 40+ hours patrolling an office building. Been working here for two years. The air conditioning always works, and the wifi is great. Our lives are not without action as just last week the night shift caught a housekeeper stealing office supplies. After an 8 hour shift with approximately 8 walkthroughs of the building, trying to top my angry birds score, and the latest wendi whoppers video, I go home shower, sleep, and dream of kittens.

Alot of it has to do with the geographic area and the cost of living. The Cost of living is high in california and lower in say STL

LAPD would probably be close to the tone set by the NCPD. Almost as a whole the entire united states law enforcement community looks to them for answers because they have likely tried it first. When you have the budget they have and a decent system it means there is room for new tactics and the funding for them. So yeah their income might be higher than most. Where I live I would wager the income for the standard street cop to be around 45 to 60 grand. Just joe patrolman...detectives go higher.

Not all police departments are union. Even some of the big city police departments aren't union. Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York are union I can say for sure. St. Louis I don't think has a union. Most municipalities don't have unions.
From experience I can tell you that police officers are massively UNDERPAID for the job they do. Assembly workers in most factories make eons more than a cop makes.

As a gm you have an idea what your looking for when you run a game. I would far prefer players who roll stats and make a realistic character and play, as opposed to the common min/maxer. It's about balance really. When you have a min/maxer, expecially one with combat skills, your making it alot harder on the rest of the party to survive hardcore/violent encounters. You have to scale shit for his fight...but everyone else is wayyyyy underpowered. The main problem with all that skill dumping in SA is people want the money to start out. They want to begin play with stuff to use, and if your lower tier you dont always get that.
Sellouts are fun...specially when they learn about c-6 charges implanted in their spine...

Well I'm not a doctor I am a Respiratory Therapist. I can do some cool shit but surgery isnt one of them. skill multiplier on a surgical skill should be at least a X3 multiplier. When your opening up the human body and poking around....fixing shit....lots of shit can happen. It takes someone with steady hands and skill to put someone back together after an injury. I think it should also have a pre requisite of 6 in first aid. Personally I would just roll diagnose into first aid...i mean unless its an episode of house and its some manner of medical mystery....its basically triage.
Yeah for instance is you know someone is shot, you can see the entry wound, exit wound, and the location of the wound will pretty much tell you what's been damaged. From there you work to fix it. Also something to note in terms of field medicine is equipment. I know during a code there are literally a half dozen people doing this and that, with shit going everywhere. Friend of mine was a corpsman and he had his marines carrying their banana bags and a few other supplies in their packs. In a specific pocket of their ruck no less.
Also he never once....ever....paid for a drink when they went out.
