  1. Ah Fu tore through the place like a whirlwind. Chips, money, a few of those funny-looking gwai-knives, bourbon.... Ah yes, the player. Pulling his pack on, he stuffed the player under his arm, lodging under a strap so as to provide a bit more security for the exit. Out through the window, shutting it behind him, he's outta there.

Climbing carefully back along the roof and into the Flames place, he let the rush that came with pulling a job rush over him. He'd started off doing jobs like this, although with a lot less sophistication. Now he was doing it a foreign country. In time he would be as good as his Master, and avenge the team's downfall. Dropping into a dark corner, Ah Fu tried to control his breathing, which had increased on the return leg. It wasn't a lot, but it was a start, and maybe the foreigners, and Smith too, could have a cut of the loot. They could rig player up in their loft, and maybe those chips had something that the big one liked, though he'd have to promise to listen to it elsewhere first.

The money was his though. One of the fringe benefits of the job.

  2. This was not turning out to be a dream job, given that he had just broken into the equivilent of his Uncle's flat minus the three kids and plethora of electronic gizmos, knick-knacks and doohickeys. Some days a jaai couldn't get a break.

The logic of one's craft, and the simple numbers, had anyone who spent more than five minutes in a place pushing their safety envelop. This had to be done carefully. With all the options covered. Powering up his glove, but leaving the safetly on, Ah Fu began to work through the house.

    1) Dump all the the chips into the space in his backpack, forcing them into the spaces between his work kit if necessary.

    2) Feel the pockets of the obviously-frequented clothes (jackets, jeans, etc) and relieve the owner of anything that could be resold or looks interesting. (Like Money!) Put it into clothing pockets

    3) As above but for the kitchen draws. Swipe the full bottle of bourbon, as someone in the team could pay nicely for it, maybe with favors or a decent feed. The bottle goes into the bag.

    4) Check the Chip Player, and if a) the lock can be busted in less than 15 seconds, and B) can be stowed somewhere on his person without too much difficulty, take it.

    5) Get out of dodge, hopefully with time to spare.

(OOC: Kinda bland an methodical, but hey, ya gotta go wit what works Gwai!)

  3. Lights out... Nobody home... Pile of chips...

    Geng ah!!

Weighing up the risk vs gain, Ah Fu decides to go all the way and see just what is available for real. Sliding down onto the window ledge, he jiggles the window itself in order to test the lock and alarm system.

Depending on how easy it easy to gain entry, he's got a pick or two in his pack that might just work. If it's not even that difficult, he'll slide in using all his stealth. If the window sets off klaxons and calls in Arasaka, then our intrepid young hero will, to use an American cliche, get the hell outta Dodge.

  4. (OOC: I'll go with Option #2, Alex... er...)

Climbing his way up onto the roof isn't a big deal for Ah Fu, certainly not like the time he had to gain access through the air-conditioning vent 54 stories up. Padding quietly along the roof, his bag securely on his back, he attempted to keep a low profile. Years of paranoia in high-density training and jobs had him to a point that he was avoiding the line-of-sight of people who simply weren't there. His progress was slow but effective.

Dropping down onto a balcony, he avoids the plants, none too sure of what would try to live on them in this cesspool. Unsure of just what he was up against, Ah Fu reached into his bag, and quickly brought out one of his Black Zaps, pulling it onto his left hand but leaving it off for now. Turning his cap into a backwards position, he checked to see if there was any way to see inside the apartment, as well as a preliminary check of security.

Somehow he'd hoped that his first B&E in the New World would have been a little upper-crust, but one had to keep one's skills from getting rusty, and the padlocks on the Flower had either been too easy to bypass or had owners that wouldn't take kindly to pilfering.

  5. Not only is this sort of work not Ah Fu's style, but it's not even something he's built for. Between his small frame and sensitive hands, he shouldn't be carrying much more than a bag. Enough of this! I'm gonna see what else is around here. Slipping off into a dark corner when Smith and the Flames aren't looking, Ah Fu creeps towards the windows of the hideout. He knew he'd been warned against making himself a target, but the houses should be sufficient cover for anyone trying to, what was that word? Gonk!

Taking a careful look out of each window, Ah Fu made his way towards the nearest balcony. Those houses didn't look that loaded, but even a few boosted chips and a player could always go towards making their home a little more homely. At the nearest window, he checked both inside and out for anyone who may see him try and gain entry. Now, how far is it from here to there? he mentally calulates.

  6. I can too. I'm a hard-core Graveyard-shifter, often on little more than a few hours notice. I do it largely because no one else wants it and when I first started there I had no life and no relationship. I've seen all sorts of crazy stuff and done a few things myself. I've also considered studying Nursing, just so I can have a more legitimate reason for being up that late. (Oh, and become a MedTechie too, I guess.)

Congrats on your employment nonetheless. Think of it as character-building and a good time to develop plot concepts, etc.

  7. I'd say penalty the sap in game every time he makes an attempt to do/use something that isn't in keeping with the realm. If he wants a newspaper, have him get one that only has stock quotes in it and have him rolled by thugs for being an out-of-place Corp. If has been 'mindlocked' rather than in 'braindance' have him spaz out and turn into a blubbering pile on the floor by random die roles.

Nothing like ignorance in the world to have a player smarten up. I've always wanted to know everything I can about a world, hence why I was so hard-core in HG. I don't know anything about Earthdawn, but just get the things he should know inaccessible to him until he gets it together.

Either that or just kick him out of the group.

  8. That could be it. It's been many moons since I've seen it, and last time was in Japanese with Chinese subtitles whilst in the middle of mind-altering activities that may very well be considered illegal whilst 19 stories up...

So, needless to say, I'm a a little patchy in places. Either way, the stuff works!

  9. I thought there was a spray-on skin with certain antiseptic qualities to it.

I always liked the idea of the foam sprayed on burns, etc that was in the hotel room Medkit in Episode 2 of Macross Plus. Being something of a MedTech fanboy myself (when I'

m not trying to break into peoples places or sell stuff on the Street at inflated profit) I've always kinda lamented the fact too. There is a website that has HEAPS of MedTech-related stuff that I'd tell your compadre, one Med to another, to have gawk at.

I'm feeling in such a good mood, I'm even going to give you a like to it.. Medtechs - The Cutting Edge

    Enjoy.

  10. Well, thank you very much. It does help me out a lot to have people who know these things give their opinions on the matter. I am thinking at this point that Wildside will definately have to be purchased, and maybe Neotribes and HOTB, for extra info and stuff.

    Gracias.

  11. As an addenum to my last post, I was looking on the web for books for sale, and found This link. Is anything on here worth getting, as I was thinking WGF for a take on the Islamic POV. (I felt RTal's ignorance of the Indian Subcontinent and nuclear wasting of the Mid East was kinda lazy given the adventure potential.)

    Thoughts?

  12. Verily and yeh, Thou doth return unto the.... Oops, forgot where we were for a moment there.

I was at my local Role-playing store the other day, (the one with the widest selection and lowest prices) when I decided to examine their CP2020 stock. I knew it had been paltry for some time (ever since I went looking for Neo-Tribes as a gift for a friend) but didn't realize just how bad it was. (Actually, I had a fair idea based on what books they had for other games I'm interested in... Hardly anything worthwhile in the Tribe 8 stable)

The selection available is as follows:

    The Bonin Horse

    Media Junkie

    Playground

    King of the Jungle

Now, I already have Aquapunk (or whatever that 4th Corp War book is called) and don't really need much time to write a comparable adventure. Also, I'm not really into chasing after vampires and werewolves, so I'm questioning whether any of these are worth getting at all. They're each going for AUD$12, so you might be able to garner just how unpopular 'Punk is here.

    Gang?

  13. "Si Weylen, Aye dink det could be a good edea. Aye weel jest ring Senor Bleck to let him know de detels."

Maria went off under a wing by herself before  taking out her cellphone. Pressing the redial for Black Knight, she waits for her to answer and greet before she gets down to business.

"Dis es Mariposa. We eve teken care ef getting our sepplies end ere loading dem ento de plene now. Murphy's contects check out so fer, but es alweys, ef dey bekem ... dirty, Aye'll tek care ef et.

"Anyding else we need to do befer we leave?"

  14. Drifting through the inanimate crowd of slack-jawed yokels, Maria feels the weight of her latest haul in her pockets. Careful not to let others know exactly what she's carrying, she slides over to the aircraft. History was all well and good, but how well it performed was more important ta this point. Weyland seems to know his schtick, and Murphy seemed clued in, so when push came to shove the China Girl might do alright.

Entering just after Weyland, Arrow and Blues, Mariposa was mildly glad that their Medic was still with the programme.

"You ere herd to keel, si?" she quipped.

  15. Not wasting time on nostalgia for the long history of her old piece, Maria admires her new one. It did seem good,(OOC: What skill would I use to assess it's quality given I don't have Weaponsmith? Handgun? Forgery?) and would help her cover a little more if nothing else. Putting her sundries back into her jacket, (card in an inside pocket, gun clips and ammo into her lower outer ones) Mariposa picked up her coffee and decided to make her way back to the plane.

(OOC: That of course assumes I haven't been sold a dud.)

  16. Knighthawk? You were Trax? Now I'm getting a whole stack flashbacks. I remember you were trying to set up a campaign years agao and I submitted a Netrunner for it. For some reason I didn't pursue the matter, but the name brings back memories. As I recall, the Netrunner I made had Pikachu as an Icon and couldn't take any cyberware so he was a Turtle. A pretty good Turtle if I'm not mistaken.

  17. "Si, Aye wood lick det, bet enderstend det Aye weel hev to pay fer sem ef et. Jest de peestel wood be fine. Aye dink thet anyding else wood be overkeel, no?"

Maria reaches into her jacket and pulls out a Credcard. placing it on the table, she puts forward her request.

"Ef you ken git me feefty rounds end en extra cleep, Aye dink de trede-en end this should cover et."

  18. While the others had gone about their business, Mariposa had been doing what she did best, making the scene. She had found a small out of the way cafe and gotten herself a drink as she worked out the team's finances. Thus far they were looking okay, and while Michaelson and Co. would be able to spring for more, she didn't know just how happy they'd be at the prospect. Blue's medical costs could be covered without too many traumas. Now all she needed was a little something for her.

Heading down to the arms area, she sussed out the stalls for a good 10 minutes before settling on one that seemed to have what she wanted. Looking over the wares in a mildly interested manner, she put forward her question.

"Wet deel ken you do en a Goncz-Taurus Auotpeestel end e few rounds ef emmo, gatos?" She knew full well that GT wasn't the best on the market, but she also knew that it WAS very popular in the Pan-Americas, and as such might not raise an eyebrow. Besides, it was about time she upgraded her Combat Magnum. Drawing it from her pocket, she placed it obliquily on the conuter.

    "Do you do trade-en?"

    When in Rome....

  19. Most coincidential. I was just thinking about my own 'coat'. It's an old RNZAF Greatcoat, which I picked up at a disposals store for $30. It had been a prop in a play my (now defunked) theatre group and I fell in love with it so much that I bought from the store lending it to us. It's too warm to wear it now, but in a couple of months I should be able to 'punk it up a bit.

  20. Well I've neverreally made NPC's. I do however have a large number of as-yet unplayed PCs. I've got all sorts.

How do I come up with the concept? It involves smoking SynthCoke and a rainstorm.

Just kidding. Actually, for the two PCs I have in play at the moment, the inspiration came from their names.

'Mariposa' - Spanish for Butterfly. I remembered it once as the name of a ship on ST:TNG. A vision of Barcelona hit me once, and the idea of a small female Fixer, flitting between clients came to me.

'Ah Fu' -Cantonese for Tiger if it's someone's name. Technically it's only his nickname, but most people call him that. I spent a year in Hong Kong and given that I'm naturally shifty, it didn't take much to make a Prowler on his way up.
