  1. I have to tend to agree with the others.  It is hard to start a friendship based off of lies and deceit.  He really needs to back off and find someone else no matter how painful it might be.

It's very difficult to remain friends with someone like this but the only way they could really keep seeing each other would be for them to go out together in a group and never get seperated from the group.  Even then it is still risky cause if she wants she will probably find some way to try to seperate them out to be alone.

Of course if it gets to this point where she is trying to force an intercourse situation it's time to tell it like it is and walk away!

Ahh...but you have paid for it.  They might not have made any money, besides maybe some advertising hits that you didn't think about, but you have indeed paid cold, hard cash to see that game.
Think about it.  Your internet connection isn't free.  You bought food that fueled your body so you could wait for it to download and to read it.  Your talking trash is a good as advertising to them so they get more advertising hits.
Time is money.  When you're at work, you get paid for being there and doing your job.  Every moment you waste on something dumb is money out of your pocket because you have to feed yourself, pay your electric bill, pay rent, health insurance, etc.

Hell, that game has probably cost you over 5 bucks already...

Ahhh, just what I like to hear spoken like a true evil corp or an accountant. :D

And one wonders why I refused to read all but tiny excerpts of the reviews.

  3. I would have to say it's very cool for something you could find just about all the parts for at your local Radio Shack.

Think about if you had a better battery system and a longer barrel/gun system then you could really up the power alot even with todays tech, making a viable weapon.

  4. How do you actually prove who they are?  DNA testing, its not exactly perfect they might have been cousins or some of the other sons of Sadam and it would show up nearly exactly the same.  Realistically unless they were taken alive we will never know for sure 100% accurate.

Of course the idea that they had rather fight to the death than give themselves up pushes me slight towards the idea that that might have been them.

  5. Something else I noticed when doing research was that armors are supposed to be able to stop a certain amount of bullets before losing integrity.

For playability I came up with this.

Type I - III is bullet proof vs med & light smg, pistol rounds, fragments from grenades and artillary and shotgun pellets.  And bullet resistant to Rifle, knives, and Shotgun slugs, and heavy smg rounds.

Type IIIA and above is bullet proof vs Rifle rounds, Shotgun slugs and knives and heavy SMG rounds.  Bullet resistant vs swords and axes.

    And bit of a definition:

Bullet proof:  allows the armor to take that many hits from a specific type of round mentioned before dropping to the next class of armor.

Bullet resistant:  means the armor losses a class every hit.

finally when an armor is type IIA and above pistol, light and med SMG, shotgun pelltes then each hit removes a single sp per round.

not exactly perfect and realistic but much closer and workable without tons of hassle.

so for example a type V vest can take 5 rounds of Rifle hits before moving to a type IV in protection.  Or if hit 10 times with pistol rounds loses 10 sp.  Or hit by sword or axe goes immediately from class V to Class IV.

Example Type III vest:  hit with a single rifle round drops to a type II.  Or hit by 3 pistol rounds drops to type II.  Or stabed with knife once drops to type II.

ok expected sp values for armor types and encumberance adjustments.

    Type       SP       EV      Conceal/Aware

    I              6        0            30

    IIA           11        0            25

    II           14       1            20

    IIIA          18       1            15

    III           24      2             10

    IV             30      2             NA

    V              34      3             NA

I have gone back and modified the armor based off the mistake and actually calculated what the stopping power should be and gave it 80% of maximum because you can still go in through the sides past the plates.  But using these vaues you must use the degredation system otherwise they are just too high.  So now your armor is pretty tough and can stop a few rounds before giving out.  i would expect metal gear to have the type V value.  So if someone is shooting with a 5.56 assualt rifle while you are wearing type V metal gear you have about 9 hits of relative invulnerability vs normal ammo.  Course at full auto rates of fire this can be gotten rid of pretty quick.

here I would use encumberance (EV) to mean a reduction in both intiative and Movement allowance.

there is one cavat here, if you are using the ultralight insert instead of the ceramic or steel you reduce your encumberance (EV) by 1.

Conceal and Awareness:  ability score needed by other people to spot the armor you are wearing when there is an attempt to conceal it.

The above are all off the rack type of armors.

Special cases:  Form fitting armor plates (EV) reduced by 1 (cost *5).

Spider silk armor:  (EV) reduced by 1 and conceal/aware rating next best class (cost * 12).

Spider silk + form fitting plates (cost * 25).

clothing look-a-like armor maxes out at III protection type or IIIA if spider silk version.

So is this comprehensive enough except for the minor gaps in costs?

  6. As I have seen this topic come up many times before I decided to do a little research on the matter.

    Protection level  Weight      Cost        Type

II                       1.8 kg     395         vest only

IIIA                     2.3 kg     470         Vest only

IV                       3.8 kg     1260       Vest & ultralight plate

    V                        4.8 kg     970        vest & cermaic insert

    V                        6.4 kg     690        Vest & steel insert

    II                        2.3 kg     700        Vest w/Jacket

    III                       4.5 kg     750        Vest & jacket

    IIIA                     3.8 kg     840         Vest & Jacket

    II                                     195          Helmet

    III                                     225         helmet

IIIA                      6.4 kg     360         used armor vest

Ok who can help me with the SP values, approx stoppage power.  I see rockwolf came up with a simple if a bit simplified and I would like a second oppinion.

    :)

  7. Mayuki looks around for the door controls and finds nothing in the general vicinity.  The only real place with anything other than basic walls anywhere in the hanger bay area is the ACPA suit area which houses the refueling and security armory.

    ============================================

AHmm,  ah GM hint: [M-8]Harry is looking to join in as a security operative. ;)

  8. I think I will be the first to say it.  Not to be harsh or anything but people have been short stroking (fighting Prostate cancer) about this stuff since 1996. ???

  9. I have not gone through all of it yet but it sounds just like another religious group saying "Do what I say not what I do!"

Otherwise they should have killed themselves a long time ago.  It should have been their first realization.

If homicide was legal I would give each one of these people what they really say they wanted. :D

  10. There were and are so many possible reasons why to invade Iraq it is almost pointless.

From Hey they have WMD to Hey they have Oil we could exploit to Hey they have Oil we could exploit and buy for us and our allies and put the big time major sqeeze on the Saudis to come into line and stop the terrorists in their country by causing themsever economic pain and hardship. :D

    = = = = = = = = = = = == = = =

Ok here is a whacked out theory.

    Ok Sadam invade Iran!   Good

Now invade Kuwait and threaten Saudia Arabia to bring them into line!  Great

Opps we took back Kuwait and made them our friends!  Good for us well we will wait a while and just take Iraq also.

    Sounds good!

Iraq is such a great jumping off point for our conquest of the Oil rich regions.

overheard at an Oil consortium meeting.

    = = = = = = =

Well think about it we have tons of troops in almost all the main oil producing countries.

Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Azerbaijan, etc.....

Just waiting for the order from Bush to send the marines to Venuzuala!

    :p

  11. To quote from the City Services section of the Printed version:

    Quote
The police force that patrols the city is a contractual one.  This means private Corporations provide services for hire on a monetary reward basis.  The reward structure is based on crimes reported on a month to month basis.  An inverse relationship exists between criminal acts and pay to the Corporations providing contract police officers.  Some city advocates have warned that this creates an almost adversarial relationship between the security companies and the city.  They also warn that tactics to intimidate the public into remaining silent in criminal situations could occur using this pay formula.  So far the citizens have yet to lodge any meaningful protests against this reward system.

The two primary contract holders are the Militech Corporation and Arasaka.  Originally when the first contract was to be awarded these two companies where the only ones with the funds and the manpower available.  Shortly after the bidding war for the contract started a small hot war between the two companies erupted.  Dozens of people where killed on both sides before the city council decided to force a truce and award each of the companies a portion of the overall city contract.  In the end Arasaka due to slightly lower amounts of available manpower was awarded rights to patrol the Downtown, Uptown and Financial District.  Militech was awarded the remainder of the Metropolitan area.  It's difficult to tell who actually has the better deal since Arasaka has the smaller contract but better controlled areas and Militech more financial incentives but having to cover the lower income and more crime ridden parts of the city.

I have named the Militech force:  (Militech Municipal Police) and have broken them down by district.

The folowing will appear in the next PDF update and will probably undergo a bit of revision.

Law & Order in Cyber City

The most prominent figure in the creation of municipal laws over the last 10 years has been Judge Thomas Murphy.  Judge Thomas Murphy came from the old school of hardliners, imported into the cities municipal justice system by the Corporate council to deal out law in the strictest sense to the street scum undermining their authority.

After six months in office Murphy had tried thousands of cases, quickly ruling in each one of them with a strong iron fist of justice, dealing out more financial penalties and community service arrangements rather than jail time due to overcrowding conditions.

Most of the offenders ended up under the supervision of the Corps in forced work gangs on dangerous construction and reclaimation projects.  Without any recourse against the Corps many criminals become injured seriously or die in the forced work camps.  The average expected life of an offender is about 10 years as compiled by the statistical arm of Amnesty International which constantly complains about the conditions afforded to prisoners in the Corporate work camps.

More than once those Amnesty International activists that have tried to forceby release prisoners have found themselves either killed by Corp prison guards or themselves imprisoned along side those they had wished to free.

To this very day a certain moniker has been given to the type of justice meaded out by the Justice system in Cyber City.  Among those in the underworld and even amoung some of the middle class and well to do people cuss and curse at the strict penalties handed down by the line of Judges that followed the untimely murder of Judge Thomas Murphy by a convicted criminal.  From that day on as shown on the vid and braindance re-runs caught by the media at the scene of the offenders summary trial when he shouted his hatred for those "Murphy Laws!"

*Judge Thomas Murphy can still be alive in your games just use the above reference as an unsuccesful attempt to eliminate him.

The Majority of law breakers are given fines and are released back into society, as long as they can pay them.  Criminals that cannot meet their fine obligations immediately are forced to work in the Corp work camps at $1 an hour wage until they have paid off their fines.

Some Examples of Crimes with fines:  bearing illegal weapons:  the items in question are confiscated and fines ranging from 500-2000 are incured per weapon.

Illegal weapons are defined as anything that is a cheap polymer one shot type device, does not have a serial number on file, and/or is missing an operational guncam unit, or actually reported as stolen.

(I hope this helps you out a bit) ;)

  12. I take the middle road approach on this.  Though I don't think the government killed him outright, I would almost bet that they encouraged him to end his life for perhaps the good of the country or some such crap like that.  Just the little extra to help push him over the edge to do the deed. :(

  13. Ebin takes a freeway of sorts heading directly North for a dozen or so kilometers or so up and into the small side town of Bilacari a settlement upon a small hillock with old world Islamic charm.  For it's size the little suburb town is rather pleasing as you pass by with large well kept homes all in an islamic style.

The one obvious point that can easily be obseved is that all the better homes are surrounded by a mud brick style wall with small gates at the entrances and exits.

Nice cars can be seen on the roads, Mercedes and BMW's amoung many sedans and other middle class vehicles.

At the northern outskirts where the buildings end and some nice manicured farm lands begin a fork in the road takes you east north eastward heading towards the major lakes that surround the city.  You continue through some heavily trafficed area for a while with more nice middle class homes, bypassing two more major settlement areas with bunches of stores and crossing the M-29 throughfare where traffic slows to a crawl.

So far no obvious signs of any Soviet_oil activity of any real conseqence has been seen as you have traveled throuigh the area, but non the less their heraldic sigil can be seen on many sides of stores and shops and many slogans contain their markings also.

Ebin continues Eastward past the lakes area and south east towards the other end of town.  Over an hour has passed due to this extended detour around the outskirts of the city.

  14. As in all emergencies that can not all end with a happy note!

Perhaps the best that can be said is that the emergency has ended, thereby letting life continue for whomever survived, untethered by guilt or ill will and bad dark feelings.

Hmm almost poetic, but i have so much crap happen to me that all you can do at some point is to wish it to all reach a conclusion so that the healing can commence. :(

  15. AH!  you know when you are getting older when you have to nudge even some of your best friends to remind them it's your birthday.

Sadly, my normal Cyberpunk game I play on thursdays had to be interupted for a trip to Houston to drain the very last money out of my bank account and get medication from the Hospital so i don't go back into a coma.  The late evening right before sunset was spent working outside in the Texas heat mowing my moms lawn which had become seriously overgrown.

Strangely I did not even go visit any strip clubs or anything this year, must be I am getting old dull and broke. :p

  16. Currently, Apo-Stasis Productions is operating at a loss, mostly to me personally.  With that in mind we are not able to compensate any of our writers or contributers at this time.  With luck maybe we can in the future.

With that nastyness out of the way, what did you have in mind Knighthawk?

Edgerunner II I think is pretty much in the stage where she has all the articles but needs illustrations and original pictures of people and places of a Cyberpunk nature.

The Fighting Vehicle Guide is pretty much my baby and I could use help compiling good pictures of vehicle weapons in the nude so to speak (without the vehicles) with stats.

The Apo-Stasis project needs editors to clean junk out of and compress everything so that we have two to three good solid optional rules for every section.

The Cyber City Project will continue to take submissions here to be placed in the next major PDF update.

Be warned since this is really only something we are doing part time and are not making any real money on results may crawl at times.

SYDNEY (Reuters) - Frequent masturbation may be really good for you!

Research by Australia's Cancer Council Victoria found that the more often men ejaculate between the ages of 20 and 50, the less likely they are to suffer the disease that kills more than half a million men each year.

The survey of 1,079 prostate cancer (news - web sites) patients and 1,259 healthy men found that those who masturbated or had sex at least once a day in their 20s were a third less likely to develop the malady.

"For men in their 50s of course that's often not achievable," Graham Giles, who led the research team, told Reuters Thursday.

"(But) masturbation isn't bad for you. I don't believe in the blindness and hairy palms theory. Prohibitions against ejaculations are not based on science," he said.

The study, conducted between 1994 and 1998 but still being analyzed, did not focus specifically on masturbation.

Nevertheless, it was the largest so far to ask participants not just about their sexual relations but also about masturbation, and to analyze the answers.

Giles said the findings correlate with previous research that showed Roman Catholic priests were 30 percent more likely to get prostate cancer, but they contradict other studies that suggested having a variety of partners or frequent sex could lift the risk.

One theory that could explain the new results is that semen may have a carcinogenic effect on the cells lining the prostatic ducts if not flushed regularly out of the pipes by ejaculations.

The research is due to be published in this weekend's British Journal of Urology International.

I was semi depressed but thought this was kinda funny.

    :)  :D  :p

  18. With much difficult and a little bit of anxious sweat kea brings the OTV around to the main bank of three docking bay doors.

Kea initiates the coding sequence to unlock and open the bay doors so that the OTV can dock inside the Santa Maria.

Strangely the signaling sequence does not have the desired effect as the bay doors are not responding.

The feedback seems slightly odd as the autoresponse sequence mentions a required military/security authorization code before unlocking the doors.

  19. I think my favs would have to be in order.

Regeneration:  to heal all those minor cuts scrapes and bruises I get while fighting SCA.

Super Strength:  to move more easily in my heavy armor for SCA combat.

Memory:  help to be able to recall boring formulas and such for those pesky tests.

  20. I will try to explain, but I don't think I can make this short.

In brief The Cyber Project is a generic city in which you may base your Cyberpunk games or just take locations or gangs, or Corps ut of and place them in your games.  It's generic enough for use with almost any Dark Future RPG.

The Cyber City Project that has been gathering here on this forum and been collected edited and such has finally reached a critical stage.  Enough information has been compiled from all the people here who have contributed articles to make a full fledged 130 page compendium including several never before seen places with over 30+ Black and White graphics throughout the work.

I have indexed all the places so they are easy to find and provided a variety of maps for each of the locations that are within the City proper, plus maps for gang territories, and a Citywide overview showing the main park, airport, etc....

I am selling copies on EBAY and except most any form of payment and will ship anywhere in the world.

    .EBAY item listing

I will admit the price is a little steep $18 in the Continental US and $22 elsewhere which does include shipping but costs for materials, shipping and just loads of time doing the layout and printing does not nearly realistically cover my time and efforts putting this all together.

I will also be posting yearly updates for free in PDF format on my Website of new locations, Gangs, Corps and whatnot that are submitted.  Therefore you could print them out and place them in the same binder behind the previous information.

If anyone has any questions you can PM me here or send me an email to egrayfox@ev1.net

You can also look through or purchase a copy either at GenCon coming up in about a week at Hound's booth Ambient Games or if in Europe at RopeCon in August in Finland.

If this turns out semi successful Apo Stasis Production which is primarily me and Chrysalis will be putting out more Cyberpunk game style products.

In fact if anyone wants a Color copy print of the first Edgerunner hardcopy it can be arranged and will also be for sale at GenCon.

Other products in the Wings are The Fighting Vehicle Guide for late next year a complete rework of military style vehicles and combat for your games and late this year Edgerunner Hardcopy 2.

When you build a 'Green car' that makes as much noise and is as user friendly as modern V8's, you'll have something.

Until then, the Green Car is going to be a yuppie toy or a responsible government initiative. Neither of which gets cheers or chicks.

I betcha the first thing you will see in car performance places when these cars come out is some kinda pimpedout system for attaching noise makers to your vehicle to make it sound like a large diesel truck

Don't worry about it most women that are worth more than a casual lay don't go for that loud I have a bigger penis because my car is noisy deal anyway, and if they do many grow out of it by 25 years or so of age. :p

  22. I have updated the entrance webpage for Cyber City, I bet everyone will like it! :D

Also I have added information on what the Cyber City book will look like front and back covers that will be seen at GenCon and I expect also at RopeCon.

I will be adding in some of the lost children of the Cyber-City project over this month, not sure when.  i found nearly a dozen stores and locations that did not quite make the cut or I simply forgot about them when making the hardcopy version.
