  1. don't know about boot holsters, but they seem unfomfortable to me (a holster for a combat knife on the lower leg seems to make more sense to me). have you looked at the speciality holsters as used by the police on motorbikes (they have a special linked carrying belt to allow for more freedom in movement, and more comfort in sitting.)

I don't know,  how many times in your life will you need to wear a seatbelt.  How often do most people ever really need a fire department.  I've personally "repelled boarders" a couple of times.  No shots were ever fired,  my would be attackers decided that maybe they really had someplace else they should be.

well, i have fond memories of my seatbelt to be honest... (it's your best friend in any car crash)

And about weaponry used on me, i once had a classmate putting a stiletto or a simiar knife on my chest, "just for fun".

Wearing weaponry open and conceiled is bound by strict regulation overhere in holland, so no worries about people suddenly going booga with all kinds of scary stuff on you. Best advice in most european counties is just not to stand out from the crowd, and don't draw attention.

  3. What about a glock 17 with a decent holster that you wear almost on your chest, under your brest pocket (sorry, ladies will have to wear it *below* that part  :D ) and with most coats, left over right closing you can easely get a hold on the weapon. you might even consider building your own small harnass of leather straps with the holsters that are shown above, imo that can't be too hard to do.

  4. I'd ask to be left alone for about a week or something.

i think it would be great for not having anyone around every hour of the day who is asking if you are feeling well, and if you want to talk about it.

physical wishlist: something that makes my geforce 4 bugfree (hardwarebug, not the drivers this time) and a copy of deus ex 2.

  5. i think we don't have to bother anymore with the sirvival of the fittest for that, in europe at least.

we urvived the black death, made us immune to a lot of virusses, and in my opinion we are no longer the weak part of humanity, only thing that remanis is competition between strong and stronger, and intelligent or smarter. i think we all surpass any given person from the middle ages no matther how weak we think we are, both on physical and mental grounds.

the oly competition i see for the future will be a brain thing. we do get smarter, or if we can't do it by reproducing it naturally, we will add "enhancements" to it. genetic engeered life isn't that far away anymore, and i do think most of us will see the results in this life. (it might become a failure, but we can learn from that as well, and give it another go).

as for the sexual part as mentioned above, i don't think all people work in the same way.

I deny myself a lot of things, including that particular point, mainly because i'm not the kind of person to take advntage of situations thateasely, i like to be accompanied by people i trust, and when they trust me, it will generally be a good time no matter what happens. base comment here: i'm not the loon i pretend to be, i'm a person with a base set of rules, with honor as a very big backbone to it. an overdeveloped sense of guild also plays a big role, and all with all, it brings me to the thing that i am, me. nothing to change about that, and to be honest, i don't want to.

excuse me for ranting. it has been for over a year for me to be drunk (and i am working to get  big hangover for tomorrow)

general thing said here: be yourself, thats enough, don't let anyone fool you into something else.

  6. I am by no means related to Mr Agamemnon (we have met on a crpg chat cannel) and the similarities are quite... unusual.

more like the mental twin thingy, but there are some differences (only tiny ones, like appearance and being born in another country some years apart, and a slightly different set of hobbies, but thats it ;) )

Everything makes noise.  Rig up a few really sensitive microphones to a high-powered computer to crunch all the numbers (this is 2020, so you can use your PDA), and you'll be able to hear anything that makes something vibrate enough to carry any waves to you.  It'd probably work a lot better attached to a surface, but one would probably have a decent range in open air.  Actual placement would probably be a bit sketchy, but you could tell how many people are in what room, and perhaps some environmental data about them (what their heartbeat and breathing are doing can write stories about people) if you get good conditions.

ok, so you have your pda with a very sensitive microphone (one that you can aim), and you have your pda soundsystem plugged into your ears. like stereoscopic hearing, left/rigth issues. now imagine you are in an open field, and you are listenign to a conversation of 2 people a mile away.

bnow imagine the very happy bumblebee hovering 3 feet away from you, and moving into your tracking range... it would emit enough sound to screw any audio system i guess. (law of murphy applies here as well).

But i guess it would work, some combination with a microphone, and an infra red viewer that give an overlapping image, it could work.

"Owlvision & Ears 2020TM" for sale for any geek.

i even guess it would sell if you would tell you could look under peoples clothes

  8. Ok, for neural interfaces, i'd like to have an internal headband just above my eyes extending towards the back of my head, and having the frame my glasses as antenna, and the glasses itself as a miniscreen (or some settings that would connect to my optical nerve of my left eye) It would resemble a bit the lenses used in the short lived series "Treasure Hunter, where the hero had video lenses, and the geek sidekick was 200 miles away in a groundstation, looking trough his eyes.

For connection with machines/computers or anything else, i'd like to have some wireless contactpads in my fingertips and palms of my hands, so you can basically "put your finger in the right place" and jack in for transfer/progress or whatever you like. It would be like walking towards an atm wall, and have a square with "put your hand here for access" and you cuold be linked up withthe banks pc and you would have your accound available with all options in your head.

eventually this will produce humans either resembeling 7 of 9, or robocop. (i prefer 7 of 9 for that matter)

  9. To comment on the things said before, i can find myself in the words of Agamemnon.

I don't feel the urge to commitment, this is mostly because i don't see myself fit for the responsibility, and i don't have the patience to work myself up to something that other people might consider attractive. For offspring, not a big chance that i'm starting on that, even at gunpoint.

As a comment on the topics question, i tend to fade to the background completely, and i am capable of hiding dressed in an orange catsuit, in a white room with nothing else inside.

I'm only buggered by the "pretty" girls (and boys sometimes) when they have things they can't help themselves out on, so they need to get someone else to get the job done. Common trickery is applied, "pretty girl" more or less promises geek to go out on a date with him because the general belief is that we geeks (i consider myself as being one) have about 0.00% chance of a successful date.

my serious vision on geek groupies is that they want something that other people can't give them: working technics.

    [/ end of rant ]

sorry, i just had to relieve my feelings on that, real life experience in that case, ad i was tricked a bit into some... less pleasuring situations, so to say...

I always think Starship Troopers is vastly underrated.  I think it plays like a WW2 propaganda movie for the government in the film.

well, if you look good at starship troopers (i saw the movie and did read the book, it's from 1954 or something) it is indeed army propeganda, and nothing more, it is the tale of the 3 successful soldiers, a pilot, foot soldier and a commander, they all survive because of theyr good training and cunning (and being the object of the movie, in a real war against insects, who would live?)

It is just that people in a movie do like to see a consistent story with a single set of heroes that live to the end (or very close to it at least)

  11. Favored music... (list coming up now...)

Queen (and various spin-offs, like solo Roger Taylor and Brian May, i just love Ressurrection and We Will Rock You in fast version)

    Simple Minds

    Sophie Ellis-Bextor

Pink (i know... but she is cute)

Pink Floyd (getting near something now)

    Golden Earring

and some other stuff that i happen to like (i'm not much into buying singles, mainly because any album will sill out 3 or 4 singles, and for that money you can buy the entire album)

and for some reason the new single by Nena and Kim wilde sounds good to me.

and i like the soundtracks of the Mel Brooks movies. (they are fun)

  12. To be very honest, i don't know if i ever will consider having kids, not that i don't like them, but just the resposibility will keep me a bit away from having some of my own (or ours, getting pregnant as a male is still a bit difficult at the moment).

hmm why not call date a nerd day and date a geek day

    makesomelosersday day.

a day on which all pretty girls and boys are oblidged to go and actually try and make conversation with someone they find physically replent.

Could result in alot of suicides.  Bad call.

i don't think the rate of suicide by geeks and nerds will significantly rise by such a day. (for other people, well, it could be, but who cares ;) )

i think it would be a good thing actually, the national "Hug the one you really like to hug someday" day

unless you have a very big aversion of physical contact, like me, then it will pose a problem.

i do like the "stay in bed day" and in some warped fantasy "with a person of choice", thing is then, what about tomorrow, eh?  :D

    Meeting DogSoldier...

Malek, hormones are the chemical well-spring for humanism and animalism. You cannot ingore your animal aspects. If you feel you are so controlled by hormones I recommend you do an experiment in taking a strong dose of male hormone. Is what you consider to be ruled by hormones actually true.

about hormones and what to do with it, you can get up to thinking really weird things ;)

imagine apollo 11 for instance, all hormone driven... (it resembles a certain thing, and it goes where no-one else has gone before (at least, we think so).

i've been i a state of denial for myself for a couple of years, and in that time i more or less put myself on the back seat together with only reason and my guilt, no sadness, no happyness. And if you deny all your feeling, it doesn't hurt anymore, and if you know that, you are going to feel very very lonely... (been ther, done that, didn't bother to do it again, that kind of thing).

(i actually don't know it it was that good to post this, but there will be comments enough on that)

i saw before in this thread, i am here, so why bother to justify why i am here, and  think that is a good idea. just acceptation that you are, and that is enough.

  15. i'm currently working myself trough sandman, graphically it goes from absolute junk to real art, and i happen to understand most of the story as well.

i do have to enrich myself on other neil gaiman literture/fantasy and so on.

and as i saw, most people have artwork on the walls, sometimes out of comics, but i have a bare mainboard of a commodore gorilla ;)

  16. i have found another real justification to keep me alive!

well, basically i'm on the emergency phonelist of friend of mine who is a diabetic, and sometimes she gets into shock, and she needs someone to keep her talking and concious. (fortunately all the calls we made thus far have been the happy chit chat).

at least i can say now that i do mean something to some-one.

*Necronada feels 22.567 % more happy now*

  17. justification for my life? easy.

to be the absolute point zero to what other people can look at and say, "heh, i'm doing pretty well actually"

and for having hormones, well, i guess they are somewhere, but they keep quiet in the back i guess. 23 years old, no urges to hop on anything or anyone that is considered above 2 degrees kelvin by anyone.

(and yes, i am a bit in a chronical depression, but there is a teeny little fire burning within... don't know what it is going to be.)
