am i supposed to make it up?

    Yeah, pretty much, sorry.

However: Footnote on page 7 of Brainware Blowout

"These prices represent after-market conversion to a standard deck. If the referee wishes he can create factory cyberdecks which have these modifications for as little as one tenth of the listed price per modification."

The cheepest cyberdeck in the whole system comes in at 500 eb new, it breaks if you drop it and tends to crash permenently.

You will probably have to throw the rules for starting cash in the book right out if you want a viable weefle, otherwise the max starting cash will be 2,000eb. Enough to buy a cyberdeck OR interface plugs OR programs, but not all three.

Brainware Blowout does have everything (and more), if you can't get that then Chromebook 3 has a good selection.

  2. When the Soviet complex in Washington was being built, local residents complained of massive Tv and radio interference. My source says this was either a) CIA/FBI filling the buildings with bugs, or  B) KGB filling the builidngs with counter-listening devices. My suspicion is it was c) Both the above.

  3. My two eb worth:

1: I was under the impression that composite bows were stronger than self bows because of their construction; streachy material where you needed elastcity and stiff stuff when you needed rigidity. As opposed to wood and even then the yew has to be from a certain part of the trunk.

2: I understand that the stress characteristics of a yew longbow change radically above 25C and the things become nearly useless. A fact found out by the English who fought in Spain.

    1. Any bleeding damage rules?

Not as such, subsumed under the stabilisation roll.

    2. Falling damage rules?  (In Chromebook 3 or 4 was something about the the falling rules,  but that you can fall SAFELY 1,5/ref  meters ? So if i have 10REF,  I can fall 6m without taking any damage!?  6m sounds pretty high to me.

There are no falling rules in the corebook, CB3 has climbing on pg15 and falling on page 24; both as aftermarket addons. Of the we've given stats for climbing equipment, so we'd better tell you how to use it game terms type. I bet a lot of thought and playtesting went into those rules...
You can drop 6m safely if you intend to and have REF10 (super feline grace), REF will not help you if you get thrown out of a window.

3.What is the maximum sp of soft armors? Can i chill around in the city with that sp?

    a) Its not so much about SP as it is about construction. In the basic set a hvy armour jacket is 20SP and soft; a flak jacket is 20 SP, hard and EV1.
    B) Really depends on your campaign. There are enough posts on armour in the archives to keep you busy for a loooooong time.
    c) Armour and clothes are really well covered in Chrome 4.

4.How does the soft armors resist fire damage? Hard armors?

Not fireproof unless you pay for it. Flamethrowers per se are on 110 on the base book, for ordinry fire you are on your own.

    4. Does silencer reduce weapons damage?

In game rules, no. It does seem to reduce ACC, in some cases, eg: the Minami 10 and H&K 77; but all of the silenced weapons are pistol calibre (with the possible exception of the Militech ninja). If someone tries to put a silencer on an ordinary rifle w/supersonic rounds then give their name and address on the amraments forum and someone will SEE to them.

    5. If i have crapling hook(cp2020 cyberware)  in my cyberarm, how does it work and wot skillroll it needs if I use it?

How much skill does it take to use a grappling hook? You point it so the hook travels over the roof and then pull it back until it hooks something or falls back; repeat as necessary. If you are trying to hook a moving target, (like a vehicle?) watch "Mad Max" and see if whoever tries it thinks that's still a good idea.

    6. How long one combat round takes? (In cp2020 there is something chewing about 3sec, but in Blackhand weapons guide says that  full combat turn is 10sec?)  3.3sec x 3=10 secs?  Three 3,3 sec rounds in 10 sec turn?

Its about that. I've always taken a combat round as 3.3 seconds, hence 18 to a minute - but that's just me

    7. In Solo of fortune or in Listen up you primetive screwheads there was new shooting range difeculties table to pistols, smgs, rifles and other weapons. Do you use this table?  Can i get the table somewhere?  ´cos i don´t wanna pay 15 euros to get SOF or LUYPS.

Its in LUYPS, its based on the Saturday night Scuffle system from Cybergeneration. I don't use it. I'm sure somebody with no fear of R-Tals lawyers has it posted up somewhere on the web.

    8. If I throw two or more frag grenades at same time in the same place do I roll  7D6  damage for each grenade or will i use ur  fixed LUYPS´s explosives table?

Whatever you like. I don't think LUYPS meant that system to be used for "normal" grenades. They probably would not be additive unless they went off at EXACTLY the same time or in a confined space like a bunker, buts that's just me rambling.

    Hope that helps.

  5. Whats the possibilty of using nanites to repair old buildings from the inside?

Working through the structure, repairing concrete and cleaning the rust and corrosion off reinforcing rods?

Black-market money changing was also common in Czechoslovakia

Yeah, we were warned about that when we went in 1991.

One of the people I was with decided to reply: "NO THANK YOU I WOULD NOT LIKE TO ILLEGALLY CHANGE SOME MONEY" to some guy who offered at the end of Charles bridge.

When I went it was just after the revolution Prague was supposed to be a happening, edgy kind of place. This essentially meant it was full of trust-funded western dropouts pretending that they were artists.

Funniest quote about Czechs comes from the local Ted Turner/Rupert Murdoch: "People belived that Czechs spent their time reading Proust, our market research showed them to be what they are: Beer drinking, working class catholics, like Belgians but less cultured" I think he said cultured, it might have been imaginative, but being less of anything than the Belgians (who are famous for being unremarkable) is one hell of an underacheivment.

None of this answers your question, but I though I'd mention it.

  7. Or as Chamberlain might have said had he actually been even remotely cool:

"Far away countries about which we do not give a rats arse".

    And I'm a Brit,

or has also been pointed out:

The Czechs have their country and so do the Slovaks, the O's are going to find a bigger country to join, such as the United States Oof America.

  8. Pulls out copy of SOF 1:

Metalgear: "These modules are in a clamshell design, allowing them to be snapped completely over all exposed parts, and are secured by easy to open security snaps."

That don't sound NBC secure to me gato.

Besides NBC gear is extremely unlikely to be readinly availible to civiliains, as civilians have no legitmate reason to be dealing with anything that requires it. Wanting some is likely to bring a great deal of interest from LevDiv, the local cops and any organized crime figures who are unlikely to appreciate some nutter using WOMD in thier hard won turf. You could replace the helmet with one that's got a gas mask, but protecting against nerve agents and the like requires more.

    Still need convincing?

    Maximum Metal 63:

"Total body covering, sealable varient on Metalgear"

    36 kg; 1200eb.

Note: You don't even get any life support with this.

    You want protection against FlashBangs?

    Get Cyberoptics/Smartgoggles w/Anti-Dazzle and Cyberaudio w/Leveldamping already.

Go fullborg and get the same.

    Wear ACPA.

  9. 3 rd mental image:

"Araska require a Secretary to join their team at their Night City Office. You will have at least 5 years of experience, preferably in the security industry; Cybertyping speed at least 240; clean record and have completed at least ten LALO jumps. Timewasters will be shot.

Araska: The last career move you will ever get to make"

  10. The building parachutes I like, do these exist IRL or are they you own idea. The staff would have to drill with these; freebasing out of a burning building is not something I'd recommend (skyscrapers get enough air currents as it is, convection would make it worse) still better than staying still and dying.

    Two mental images:

    1) On entering the Tower you get a breifing from a very attractive hostess:

"The emergancy exits are situated in the middle of each side of the building. Step into your parachute harness and buckle like this, please remove all high heels before entering the chute and do not pull your ripcord until clear of the building. To release the harness hit the red button, for your own safety do not do this until safely on the ground. In the event of your becoming hung up on another building, please do not panic, use the attached whistle to attract attention. Thank you for visiting EBM; have a pleasent visit."

    2) PCs are in the middle of a sensitive negotiation down town, suddenly they are interupted by a firedrill at the Militech offices and hoards of wageslaves parachute in to disrupt proceedings.

As for the lifts; as I understand it there are very few lift-shafts that run all the way down a skyscraper as it is not a very efficient use of space. Instead you have multiple shafts stacked atop each other, being able to dissengage the safeties is therefore not something you want to do. Let alone it makes it too easy for Netrunners and your own AI if it goes insane; or for rival corporates to off each other.

    CAMAP-like taser rounds

    ?!?!?!

Err - the bullet is a battery and it releases its charge on impact? What's CAMAP stand for?

I think he's referring to the C-MAP from "Protect and Serve".

The Constitution arms Multiple Ammunition Pistol, firing "Chemically Propelled Taser Rounds"

1d6 impact damage, saves are at +2 v the taser; unreliable and rare.

Similar stuff includes PSI Stundart pistol from CB1. or the Shotgun Stundarts from Blackhands. Assuming that you allow these things in the first place (seem a bit to delicate to be fired from a gun and to need a bit too much energy in a small package to be possible or cheap) you could probably stick something similar on a micro-missile, might need to recalibrate its trageting system though.

  12. Ever seen "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly"?

Clint Eastwood apparently has his hand in his coat pocket, actually his pocket has no lining so he is actually gripping his gun.

I can't remember off hand, but do knives etc. gain full damage after penetration or is it halved as it is for AP rounds?

I am sure you are correct, I will now attempt to prove it:

    Page 67 of core book:

Edged weapons treat SP as half (refering to soft armours). Penetrating damage is not mentioned, so I presume it is unaffected.

    However go to page 102:

After detailing why armour is not the answer to everything and what AP bullets do, 1/2 SP, 1/2 Damage. "The same is true of knives, swords and other íedgedí weapons. Note that armours marked with a check on the Armour table are at half SP effectiveness against edged weapons."

Depends on how you interpret that, I belive "the same" refers to "why armour isn't the universal cure" and armour having half effect. Everyone I played with never halved damage from edged weapons as its counterintuitve -it would make an axe less dangerous to an unarmoured man than brass knuckles (avg 10, halved to 5 v average 5.5).

    Blackhands page 2:

"All edged melee weapons (knife, sword, axe etc) gain AP ability v softarmour." No mention of damage.

They also keep using the phase "acts as a knife for armour penetration", which I interpret to mean "halves soft armour SP".

Off course several people are going to post a reply berating my for treating R-Tals writings as revealed truth which only the initiated may expound, rather than using my own common sense and taking out half my life to rewrite the entire system. Not that there is anything particulary wrong with that, but house rules are house rules and hence specific; if people from all over the world are going to discuss the rules, we have to start from the same ones.

Umm...where did you get your figures?  Heavy Plate in GURPS has PD4 DR7.  When you look at a Longbow, it does thr+2 impaling damage...with a maximum of 1d+4, or 7 points of damage on average.  The Heavy Plate armor stops that just fine, thanks.  A 9mm Glock-17 does 2d+2 damage, or an average of 9 points for 2 damage getting through per shot.  Kinda makes you a bit less confident about people charging police lines in full plate, eh? ;)

Well if you shoot at a guy in steel plate with a Longbow and Broadheads, thats like shooting at Metalgear using hollowpoint .44s and you deserve to have your head stove in with a mace.

    Pulls out Gurps Compendium II:

    Armour-Piercing Arrow/Bodkin (TL3)

DR-2, wouding damage is at -2 (after penetration and doubling for being impaling)

    Average for 1d6+4 is 7.5, not 7.

So 7.5 hitting DR7, means that the DR drops to 5, on average 2.5 points will get through, double this to 5 points and subtract 2.

    Three points of damage.

    Better than your 9mm Glock.

  15. Well there are the three Corpbooks:

    Vol I: Araska and IEC.

    Vol II: Militech and Lazarus.

    Vol III: Petrochem & SovOil.

which detail these coroporations to a greater degree than anybody should ever really need.

Availible wherever out of print gaming supplements can be found (auction sites and Phipps), I get the impression these were not among the more popular supplements R-Tal did. Biotechnica get mentioned in Corp Book III.

There is also something on E-Bay now called the "Araska Conzern Report", I have no idea what the hell it is (its in German) and am not quite crazy enough to buy it just to find out.

  16. Quote (manu @ April 07 2002,22:01)
Or if the taxes can vary with the rates of these coporate money. Trying to vote a meaningful budget will turn into a nightmare.

And corps would necessarily consider this a bad thing?

  17. Sorry, we've misunderstood each other:

I am talking about Corporate script that can be used outside the company. Ananlagous to early banknotes issued by actual banks as opposed to central banks and accepted by other banks at a discount depending on how difficult it is for them to get thier money back. Essentially as corporations are adopting many of the other characteristics of nations (viz: Corporate immunity) the ability to issue money would go with that.

Arasaka or EBM would be a dollar equivalent of today, stable and accepted everywhere. Mustang Arms would be an Estonian, thingy. Militech would take Arasaka notes, but at an usorious discount (and it would be about as wise as taking your holiday money as Israeli Shequels when visiting Tehran).

In an ordinary campaign this would be a pain; but if you really wanted to make your players lives interesting, and shopping a pain - perhaps in a world where national currencies are destablized by the corps?
