  1. well, for taser sniping I'd take a standard sniper weapon (rifle or handgun, depending on situation) and use CAMAP-like taser rounds (I belive that they've been listed as optional ammo, capacipator bullets, in FID's Tasers). Maybe combine it with high - powered airgun rather than firearm (no flash, no bang, no chemical trace, and much easier to not hurt a guard, I think that's the thing you want). BTW, once I was playing a catburglar, and my favourite weapon was Tsunami Airhammer (gas capsules or flechettes with incapacipating drug - no dead bodies, just some tough guys with terrible hangover.

I don't like the concept of a long-range arc thrower, and for me it'll be hard to make such thing to not fry guards dead. I'm not a phisics expert, but for me if you throw an arc powerful enough to travel 50 or more meters and git rhe target you want, then it will be at least enough to harm someone. Maybe better some long - range wersion of PSI webgun taser (Chrome 2)? smaller net (just to hit and fry a bit, no need of entangling)...

Or try some type of dust (nanoids???) sprayed on the target (say, via low-speed grenade or micromissile [bTW, what about taser warhead for micromissiles???] ) and then charged by the delivery missile / grenade capacipator to fry electronics and send personnel sleep?

Tell me what do you thing about it...

  2. Well, you <<"clockwork orange" jiuce>> lovers, that's an idea. Just tell me how it works.

Although Cat never liked drugs too much, once - popular among my players was drink called "red shark", metaamphetamine / hallucinogen mixture (was some alcohol in it? I dunno...) served with a small, 1 inch long cloned shark in it. You had to drink the liquid and then bite the shark (eating it recommended, but not required). Was 10e$ or something.

One more word: once I've collected some cocktail names (and most of their receptures), most of them pretty cool, to serve them to the characters. Just think about a flyboy drinking cocktail named "Hiroshima" (BTW I've asked this once, and it's awfully sweet - but name's cool, huh?). Just ask me, and I'll translate them into English and send it here.

  3. It is possible to create CP LARP without ANY mechanics. Just roleplaying - it's just the matter of scenario. I've run such a LARP two years ago, and everybody (nearly...) was satisfied.

To be honest: what do we need mechanics for? Only combat... Because if you don't persuade somebody into something, how would he belive just because you've won a test? And combat - it is necessary? I've seen too many goons thinking that "Cyberpunk" means, in simple translation "dakka, dakka, dakka, and a bit of dakka!". Just the matter of justifying it right way in the scenario.

Of course you can still use some kind of a gun (air soft gun replicas, although they may be a bit dangerous, or better water pistols) to mark hits, and fantasy LARP - style foam covered broomsticks as melee weapons (no LARP I've heard of allowed direct hand - to - hand combat, and I agree with that).

  4. Hey, Thunderbird: I was talking about things mounted UNDERBARREL, not pistol grenade attachments. And Militech 25mm grenade launcher is far too big to fit on a handgun (L conc). Besides, pistol grenade rigs are just a nice attachments for me, but they allow you only to rig the grenade and fire it, when UB allow carrying the whole thing around, firing the gun, then firing UB and firing the gun a few more times...  Much better for me.

  5. The "No Exit" is a club / bar run by my ex-character.

Okay. It's placed somewhere in NC, not too good district (I usually localize it somewhere south of NCU, but not the Combat Zone). It isn't very big, so moving it would be no problem. Over the entrance you have small, neon sigin "NO EXIT" (not always fully operational), and next to it on the wall some punk has sprayed "There's an exit, mot(...)s, with legs to front". First, you enter a small hall (fitted with weapon detectors), where you have to dump all your firearms (they will be returned to you when you'll exit, no questions asked - well, only once the boss has looked into the warehouse was after a bomb assault, and he needed some extra guns. Because some patrons get killed and never took their guns back, he sold them a year later) - melee weapons are ok, even monokatanas and chainsaws, but the security would ask you to tell them before you'll want to use it (just for practical purposes, eg. cleaning). Only security are allowed guns inside. Then they let you in (there's no fee). Inside are some tables and chairs, but main sitting places are under the walls, in enclosed boxes (if you close your one, that means you want privacy, and no one will interrupt you, no matter what). On the left (back) is a small stage, where sometimes plays a new, nameless band, but usually there is jus a guard changing music chips in audio system. In the centre, you have floor for dancing, which can be quickly turned into arena / ringif someone wants to settle things close & personal (if both sides agree - that's why they ask you to tell them if you want to unsheath your monokatana). Front to you is bar (left to it are WC entrances, mens and ladies), with shelves full of bottles over it. The bar itself is made of thick polished steel, filled with reinforced concrete (yes, hard to made and costly, but it has saved owner's life many, many times, and they keep an Arasaka Rapid Shot under it) - hardly one knows it (but still you'll need an antitank weapon to penetrate it). Some bar seats. There's also entrance to back rooms, but nobody (exept for personnel and close friends) is allowed there. No back door (although there's an gossip that they have entrance to the city tunnels in the back. A sigin over the bar says "All dead bodies left in the bar after closing become personnel's property" (and it's not a joke, although it happens rarely)

The owner is called Cat, bitter man in his mid -twenties, with cat-like, exotic eyes and face biosculpted to resemble a cat (no, it is not even CatNip exotic package). It is said that one should not visit his house... Well, Cat is a fixer (once low-level street dealer, now a small scale owner), who once had been in some messy business between Arasaka and Militech, and then gained enough money to run a bar. He likes to work as bartender, especially in the evenings. He's usually nice, especially to regular patrons, but is known of his "Now they've pissed me off!" behaviour, and then better not to come in his way.

The other bartender is a big guy called Joey. He deals in drugs (although rather softer ones). It is said that he is an ex-mercenary.

There are also 2-3 security guards, usually low-level street ronins or medium-experienced gangers. They change frequently. Sometimes Cat employes also a waitress or two.

Cat has made an agreement with Yakuza - No Exit is sometimes used as safe haven for Yak members (sleeping in the back rooms) and a meeting place. He also allows Yaks to sell drugs in his club, as long as they are discreete. Yaks provide also some extra security posing as patrons (usually three guys with melee weapons or martial arts). Well, I have to finish, if anyone's interested I'll post here more details.

  6. Probably the Lamborghini and Ferrari will keep up in 2020s. They look pretty cool comparing even to the 2020 cars.

But, personally, I wouldn't trust my life to an Italian car (nor gun) - I doesn't mean to offend anyone, but I just dont feel them right... Yes, I know, that they are not some tweny-cent junk, but still...

  7. It depends for what you need UB launcher. Anything small enough to fit on a pistol would be too underpowered for "real killing" (exept for that silly Castech w/ 40mmGL I've seen somewhere in Blackhammer's). But it will fit as a special purpose launcher (gas, smoke, flare... one ready for use under your barell). My own UB wannabies include 20ga shotgun (exactly as special purpose launcher), laser projector, dart launcher, paintball weapon... one day I'll have to translate my "Junkhouse" into English and send it here...

  8. My best campagin was called "the Universs Affair".

The Universs Agency was a small corporation, specialised in "undertaking missions" - spying, detective actions, security, and so on (much like edgerunner corporation, similar maybe to the Orion or LES from Chrome 2) that I've stolen from old Polish comic book "Funky Koval". Anyway, the company was taking profits from hiring their covert operatives.

The players were covert ops (although not nhe top brand), and were given missions for some time. Extraction, hostage rescue, and so on - rather requoiring lots of thinking than shooting. They had a typically cororate boss "Mr Smith / Jones / Johnson (nobody was sure which is his true name), there was also nasty & paranoid security chief, Mr Braedee (stolen from Joan D. Vinge's "Catspaw") and a bunch of personel (too many to describe them all). Okay. But the Universs had problems: age-long enemy, the StellarFox company (of the samy business) who were "in" another trouble - "the Boomer Affair" (which made another campagin in result). The Universs's second-in-command was a traitor, working for Stellars. The company was busted, agents killed or chased by polce (false crimes work good). Players had escaped and hid among Nomads. Then, unfortunately, the group I was playing with, dissolved. Characters are still alive, and some managed even to go back to NC and take part in the "Boomer Affair". Some NPCs are still heard about (including Sgt Bothari, schisophrenic tough guy from Universs, who hijacked an OrbitalAir shuttle and run into Orbit).

  9. The Mitsuoka website is www.mitsuoka-motor.com/mitsuoka/docs/top.html (that's the best way to enter it). They have there both Le Seyde and one more tasty retro, Zero. Unfortunately, the whole site is in Japanese. Sigh... And photos are not so good - i'll try to scan the one I've seen and send it to everybody wanting (just gimme call). Mitsuoka has shown also their cocept car Orochi ("snake") - nice sport coupe. Enjoy.

  10. Snowtiger, search the Net for Mitsuoka Le Seyde convertible (I think it was shown in Tokyo, december 2001) if you like retros. I've seen just one photo and I WANT THAT CAR (at least for my char).

  11. In chrome 2 they say that ET ammo is avaible also AP. For me it means that there are standard and AP bullets in ETE, butnothing more. Of course, when I'm GM-ing the selection is a bit wider. Usually I say that any solid piece of metal can be fired from ETE (both standard and AP rounds fulfill this requirement, but API, DP, KFF and so on - no). So, if those DPU or Titanium or whatever rounds are made of single piece of metal (they do not have to splash, fragment, release penetrators and so on), they can be used.

  12. That's the point, Agamemnon. It has to be stylish. But, friends, we should remember about Style - Over - Substance, and I see this thing as very, very stylish.

Anyway, I thought it overnight: the "roman candle" will also allow the system to use cold - launched micromissiles. Hmm. With HEP warheads they should have Vehicle Penetration similar to 13mmCAS, and inteligent missiles (like IR homing micros) might be better in backup weapon, used in city. Of course this will make the thing Heavy weapon (for skill purposes), but is much more accurate (not only homing, but also low-recoil cold launch). With the laser targeter you van even use FID Micromissiles with laser homing (just swap redpoint for painting laser). I think that micromssile cane would be also more in style for Eurocorporates, although I would privately prefer rather the 13mm one (dunno why).

Okay, so let's try to work out some statistics:

    Turnbull & Sons Micromissile Cane

    HVY +2 N R various (micromissiles) 4 1 ST 200m

    MEL 0 - - 1d6+stun (stick + built-in taser) 10 1 ST 1m

    or

    Turnbull & Sons Gun Cane

    PST -2 N R 4d6+2 (13mmCAS) 4 1 ST 100m

    MEL as above

And no ideas about the price... well, as for me it should cost few tousand bucks (complicated & stylish!).

One more thing: probably it could be made easy to reload (ie break it just below the handle and press fresh ammo0, but I'll say that it requires warehouse - assisted reloading (weaponsmith 10, 10 minutes).

  13. Manu, thanks for the "roman candle" concept. It's great! DragoonCav, sorry, but: 1) hired guards are likely to be shot 2) the stick is to be a stylish backup (you can never, ever have yoo many backups!) 3) my char is a cop, so I can't take guards with me! 4) smg in biefcase is nice, but big&heavy and you need smg skill to use it (I don't have...). Anyway, thanks for your opinions - let's see how it'll end...

  14. For me, long-barelled gun like Artillery Luger should be at least L concealable. And 10mm slug is bit underpowered for my needs (this cannot be backup gun, it's too big.). Maybe 11mmCL? Anyway, I would prefer other wannabies...

  15. I hate killing PCs. Creating a new one (using my system of generaing) takes at least 4 hours (up even to 12) and needst hell a lot of hard work. So, they are dead because they've done something really stupid (usually more than once), or by accident (ie. firefightgone wrong, but that's their choice to participate in it). And there is also my "you live only twice" rule. It means that when rules say that PC is dead first time, I'll turn the whole system legs up to save his / her ass (of course I prefer to explain it logically - for example, when they crashed an UH-9 in the desert, I said that they were close enough to the city - somewhere in Texas, Vegas or sth - and one of their Trauma Team cards has broken during the crash. So Trauma come and picked them up. Of course all their gear was lost, and they had to pay enormous hospital / intensive care / rescue bills. But they were alive.). The second time you are dead - was it your stupidity, or just bad luck - you are dead, fullstop.

Of course, you can piss me off so much that your "second chance" will vanish. But you have to work hard for it.

As a result, I'm not using booby traps nor snipers against my players (unless they have been warned, the thing is ill-covered or someone else, eg. NPC is to be dead). There is no way of spotting a good sniper on 2km distance in the city before his 1st shot. No way...

  16. Some fresh meat for you to discuss. Since few weeks, I'm thinking about new stylish (and useful) gadget for corps and so on.

Okay. Let's imagine a nice, stylish walking stick (if you say that you don't need one because you are still young, watch "The Saint", and look closely for that young Russian gangster). Of course walking stick with gun is standard piece of equipment for every old geezer in the 2020, but we talk about really nice one. Of course it is solid enough to be used as a club, but that's not the point. The metal ornaments are to be used as taser (trigger in the handle, energy source in the handle or in the stick itself? I still don't know). The stick is also a barrel for some good caliber round (I've thought about 13mmCAS, as it has good stopping power, and good vehicle penetration), and the lowest part of the stick houses laser target designator (it folds down to open the barrel - maybe some kind of servomotorics?). Now the problem is to have some sort of a clip - single - shot capability is rarely enough, even for such an emergency weapon. Revolving cylinder could be enough, although more than 3-4 rounds could be too big to hide it in the decorative bulge (or other ornaments), and anything smaller than medium pistol rounds will not fit into the handle. Micromissiles could be nice, but things sized like big pens will be still to big to fit into any clip for that thing. No smartrig (would look suspicious, if you are linked to your stick), no rifle rounds (at least no full power rifle rounds - think about the recoil!), no comfortable handle - but quite long barell, natural conceability of a stick and ammo powerful enough to stop a vehicle (at least an armoured car/ limousine /van). How do you like it?
