    ..::Cyberjunk

    Bella was her name. Hang on no. He turned the squonk down on his cyberaudio, Della. Right that’s the bitch. A quick movement below the polished steel table and unknown to the other punters a Fletchette was primed and ready. Kiro slowly stood looking across the crowded bright green cafe. microscopic gears screamed as his vision powed over to a girl with velvet blue hair. Laughing. Carefree. Young. Drugged.

    She stood paying for her bowl of Assam with a quick flick of her SoNokia and left.

    Kiro followed her out into the rain.

    ..::Malcolm

    Not your usual rain, this. Dirty brown streams cascading down for the geodesic high above. Filthy water, heavy with particulates, probably carcinogenic. Dank puddles reflected the light spilling from the front of the Teahouse Haruma, reflected the girls face, reflected the face of her hunter.

    The bizarre internal microclimate of the geodesic caused a brief, miniature tornado to sweep down the street, swirling the rain into mist, sending Styrofoam containers flying, hats fluttering, umbrellas twisting into a sky circumscribed by an arc of brown plastic. A momentary flash of color caught Kiro’s eye. A small, androgynous child clutching a bright square of reflective plastic stood opposite him, adjusting its clothes after the passing of the tornado. It was amazing how these street kids could develop such an attachment for single objects, an attachment bordering on mania. That’s life in the big city.

    ..::Psychophipps

    The girl had turned left down the sidewalk of the narrow street and Kiro barely picked her from the milling crowd as she stepped slightly-to-carefully down from the curb.  Her hair stayed up but darkened when the filthy rain washed over it as she stepped from the covered walkway and into the perpetually gridlocked traffic.

    As Kiro followed, no less than 12 holo-adverts, 5 hookers, 3 pickpockets, and 6 street vendors screamed, flashed, or bumped into him within the short span to the curb, one having to be shoved back into his kiosk with a side kick after making the mistake of determined physical contact, to get the "I’m ain't buying your S**T, ok?" message.

    His cyberoptics scanned the crowd again and caught her just as she made it a crossed the street, an armored patrol car suddenly screeching to a halt right behind, it's red-yellow-blue lights flashing among the holographic "STAY AWAY!  POLICE BUSINESS!" in half-meter letters overhead, the loudspeakers blaring the same at 130 decibels in the standard 15-language loop that matched the language of the graphic.  Two midnight-blue uniformed officers in armored, black load-bearing vests jumped out with bull pup caseless carbines at the ready.

    ..::Cyberjunk

    Kiro's cyberoptics started playing up. It was a combination of his beta version optics mixed with static from the police equipment. It was amazing how the cops bought crap just because it had a designer logo on the side. Even the Arasaka holo projector were making his optics change colors randomly. He'd lost the girl. And the audio was playing up again.

    Kiro hurried along the street in the direction he thought the girl would have gone but could not find her in the crowds. He turned round and headed back to the tea shop and went in out of the rain.

    Taking his usual table in the corner Hiro subconsciously wiped a perfectly symmetrical hole in the condensation on the window and peered out. The cafe owner slid him a Gunpowder Green across the Corion surface and Kiro said thanks CJ without turning his head.

    Business was slow but he would get the parts the Doc needed.

    ..::Snowtiger

    He sighed lonelinessly and bent over his Gunpowder Green, nursing it on and on, watching as the condensation retook his perfect circle in the window. Where the hell was the girl, he wasn't even sure if it was those damn cops who had scared her off.

    Kiro listened to the quiet little Cafe's sounds, as the loud sound of breaking mirror came from the ladies restroom. Damn, another one those drug abusing little street-whores' having a bad day. He thought, as he saw CJ start down the corridor leading to the restrooms, with an aluminum baseball bat in his hand.

    ..::Cyberjunk

    After about 5 seconds Kiro heard a woman’s sneering laugh followed quickly by a gasping "You wouldn't dare" and a scream and the sound of a heavy door slamming.

    Kiro looked at the other punters in the cafe but none had batted an eyelid.

    CJ walked back behind the counter with a satisfied smirk on his face. He grabbed a jar of 'I can't believe it was broken' from below the counter top and went back out to mend the mirror.

    The cafes own MP4 radio station continued to local broadcast CJ's favorite old tunes for the wired customers that frequented the Tea House, adjusting itself to the small shift in his mood by playing Muse's Feeling Good.

    ..::NDM

    What was that? Kiro looked up. No one else had noticed the sound. The sound of... Screams?

    ..::Snowtiger

    Kiro curdled his eyebrows, feverishly working to distinguish the sound's location, it seemed to come from the upstairs, off limits for the customers of the bar. It sounded like someone was banging the floor with something wet-and-mushy.

    ..::Edgecrusher

    Standing up, Kiro quickly walked across the creaking floor and headed for the staircase behind the counter. Slipping his hand inside his Gibson BG jacket, he firmly gripped his battered old Colt, ran around the counter while CJ looked another way and started up the dirty concrete stairs.

    The sound suddenly stopped, and Kiro thought he heard a low moan followed by a door slamming shut.

    Picking up speed, he raced up the final steps and drew his gun, quickly scanning the hallway in front of him.

    A dusty old carpet covered the floor, and here and there chips had fallen off the walls. The right side was lined with windows overlooking the junk filled backyard, while the left wall contained two old doors, one of them half open.

    Hearing another moan from the nearest door, the closed one, Kiro slowly gripped the doorknob and gave it a sharp twist.

    ..::Snowtiger

    The lock screeched and gave out its life with a metallic snap, the door swinged open with a loud creak, faster than Kiro had anticipated. He tumbled into the room, staggering a few steps, before getting his balance back. He took a look around, the room was a lot like the corridor. It had been nice when it was new, but had degraded with use and wear. There was a trail of blood on the floor, leading to the bathroom.

    Kiro walked towards the bathroom door, carefully and slowly, trying not to produce much sounds. The bathroom door was cracked a little, light escaped from the crack to the mainly dark living area. He stepped to the side and pushed the door open with his free hand, peering inside quickly. The bathroom was empty, aside from the trail of blood on the floor, which lead in to the bathtub, the shower curtain was pulled in front of the bathtub. Kiro stepped in the bathroom and shoved the curtain aside. A woman lied in the bathtub, there was blood everywhere, her hair were a bloody mess and she had bruises on her neck. Clearly someone had tried to kill him, and failing in that, had left her to die. The woman moaned softly.

    ..::Edgecrusher

    Several thoughts raced through Kiro’s now confused mind. Feeling a drop of sweat trickle down his forehead, he bent down beside the bathtub and took the woman’s limp hand.

    "Are you ok," he asked softly. She didn’t answer him, but her eyelids were now slowly closing. She coughed, and it seemed to cause her great pain. Clearly trying to say something to him, Kiro leaned closer to her face, but she only managed to get out a wheezing sigh. More blood mixed with the small pool of crimson water at the bottom of the tub, apparently coming from her back.

    Kiro gently lifted her up trying to get a closer look. A large gash, several inches long covered her right upper back. Probably punctured her lung. Easily picking up her frail body, Kiro carried her over to the bunk bed in the room next door, then got out his wallet, flipped it open and grabbed his Trauma Team card. Quickly snapping it, he put it next to her, whispered softly "you’re gonna be all right. I’m gonna find the guy who did this!", and sprinted for the door, gun in hand.

    ..::NDM

    He ran out into the hallway. The floorboards creaked under his weight. Who had done this! Who was the girl!. he looked around, the hallway was empty. CJ must have heard something, cause he came rushing up the stairs.

    "Hold it!"

    He yelled, holding a shotgun, pointing it at Kiro.

    "Whoa! Wait. I haven’t done nothin', but..."

    "What the f##k re you doing up here, holding a gun!" he didn't look to happy.

    "Um.. I heard something' and..." Kiro replied, trying to explain.

    "Holster your gun, pal. I don’t want to be pinning my customers down. No good for my reputation"

    The Trauma team could be here any second now, and the killer was getting away!

    CJ aimed his gun at Kiro's head.

    ..::Edgecrusher

    "Hey, take it easy. It’s me, Kiro, your friend."

    CJ looked suspiciously at him from the other end of the barrel, then lowered his weapon saying: "ok Kiro, but holster that gun of yours and tell me what the hell is going on up here"

    "Yeah, the guy must be gone by now. But there is an injured woman in the room over there. I’ve called for medical assistance" Kiro pointed over at the open door, then started walking. Entering the room, the two of them noticed the screeching engines of an AV landing outside the window.

    ..::Snowtiger

    The Howl of the AV's engines lowered to a low rumble of idling. The flashing lights painted the bar with a blue-red hue as the back doors of the AV opened and a team of medics emerged with a portable cryo-stretcher and some big red-white medical-cases.

    Kiro stood in the window of the room where the girl was in. CJ came along on his side. He'd taken a look at the mess in the bathroom and said:

    "That #######'s gonna pay for the mess in there."

    Kiro curdled his eyebrows and asked:

    "Do you know what he looks like?"

    "He's a skinhead or something, completely bald. His eyes seemed too perfect to be his original ones, they were green-brown and had a piercing look. He had on a ragged t-shirt and an old, studded leather jacket with baggy urban camo trousers and army boots. I don't know what his gang calls him."

    "Thanks, CJ. That's good enough."

    ..::NDM

    "But what did he do up here?" Kiro asked calmly, looking down at the street.

    "I rented him a small room upstairs. I never rent out this part of the building, but somehow he manage to persuade me."

    The Trauma Team had entered the room, pushing Kiro and CJ out of the way. Kiro and CJ walked out into the hallway, curious of what was going to happen. Would the girl survive? What about the killer? Would they manage to catch him?

    ..::Edgecrusher

    "you know" Kiro mumbled, searching his memory. "I think I’ve seen that guy somewhere else. If only I could remember where..."

    He glanced in at the medics as they cleaned the woman’s wounds, then looked back at CJ. "He really fucked her up, don’t you think? Still, I’m not sure if he really tried to kill her. If he did, I think she would have been dead now."

    CJ looked up, slowly stroking his chin. "yeah, you’re probably right. This is weird..."

    "Excuse me. Can you tell me what the hell happened here. Kiro turned towards the young paramedic standing in the doorway, holding up a bloody length of thin wire.

    His eyes were fixed on the two other men, hard, but not very accusing.

    "Monowire" Kiro thought.

    That’s what cut her up like that.

    ..::Keneda

    The flashing blue and reds from the Trauma Team AV reminded him of what he had originally set out for.

    Where did that blue haired girl get away too, he thought. How the hell am I ever gonna catch up with her. Why did I waste a perfectly good Trauma Team card on this stranger?

    The dank smell of blood was starting to be unbearable and any minute the boys in blue would be showing up and asking questions. Then they would want to see his ID. There is no way I can afford to be connected with anything right now, not and get this job done, he thought.

    "CJ, I gotta roll," he said slowly backing out of the room and shaking his head in disbelief at the shitstorm he had just landed in. "I'll swing by later on and let you know what I can. Thanks for the drink."

    As he entered the hall, his ears filled with the whine of AV engines starting up and roaring to life, soon the trauma team AV was rushing to City Hospital it's sirens screaming the tale of cardiac failure.

    "Damn..." he mumbled, as his boot echoed on the tiled floor at the base of the stairs. "Damn."

    The tea room was all but deserted now and the usual rubberneckers had started flocking outside. He fought his way through the crowd elbowing four or five delinquents away from picking his pockets.

    The rain felt good now. Like it was cleansing what he had just seen from his soul. He slid his hand back into his jacket pocket and started methodically feeling and counting the notches in his old worn flechette pistol, as if he were reminiscing over each person he had seen die.

    ..::Edgecrusher

    Blending in with the usual crowd, Kiro wandered aimlessly down the wet sidewalk as the sound of approaching sirens filled his ears. Two cruisers passed by and pulled up in front of CJ`s place. Man, he’s in some deep ####, he thought. Those cops are gonna ask a lot of questions. Glad I’m out.

    Kicking an empty can across the street, following it with his eyes, Kiro glanced over at the sleazy club on the other side, and decided he could use a drink. A good one.

    The girl would have to wait for a while.

    ..::NiteWolf

    Kiro walk over to the club the neon light flashing GIRLS GIRLS GIRLS!!! He walked up to the bar and ordered a Hammerhead. He twisted in his stool and watched the dancer and nursed his drink.

    The music was loud and stage lights bright. Kiro could see the girls dancing for the men and woman with euro. He was about to order his fourth drink when one of the dancers caught his eye. It was the girl with velvet blue hair.

    ..::Edgecrusher

    So she’s a dancer, he thought. Interesting. Maybe I can get hold of some info from the bartender. He grabbed his glass and turned around to the bartender. Cool blue eyes met his, and a chromed cyberhand gently thrummed the fake mahogany bar. What can I help you with? The bartender smiled, showing a row of yellow teeth. A breath mint for yourself, Kiro thought, but smiled back. I was wondering about that girl with the blue hair. She works here, right?

    "well, yeah. I think so. She’s been dancing here every night this week, but she is quite new. Don’t know much about her, but the owner, Mr. O`Toole might help you."

    "Where can I find him?" Kiro asked and let his eyes focus on the girl again.

    "I’ll see if I can find him. Gimme a sec"

    Kiro barely noticed the bartender leaving. He was all caught up in the blue-haired girl.

    ..::Metal Vapour

    Kiro got out his ScanMan™ and checked to see if she was on the record. The computer couldn't place her but with a body like hers he wasn't surprised (she must have body- sculpting to look like that).

      The bartender came back and this time he had a tall, dark man with a cyber-arm.

    " I hear you're wondering about one of the girls" he rumbled in a throaty murmur,

    " Yes, how long has she been working here ?" Kiro asked.

      The man took a while to answer and when he did he sounded reluctant.

    " she started working here about a month ago and comes and goes I would have fired her normally but..."

    Before Kiro could ask why she hadn't been fired he noticed the girl was leaving; she was leaving through the back and Kiro ran to catch up, trying not to let her see him. He wasn't going to get discovered until he was sure of the info he'd been given.

    ..::Psychophipps

    One of the bouncers suddenly stepped from Kiro's blind side with his outstretched arm on Kiro's chest.  "That area is off limits to customers, pal."  Looking up at the chipped beef, he sees the look of a person who enjoys their job very, very much in his dark, bloodshot brown eyes.  Probably on boost, Kiro thinks knowing that being aggressive at this point will probably just get his face stomped in.

    Holding up his hands in the universal non-threatening manner, Kiro calmly tells the bouncer, who's name is Lenny now that the swirling, multicolored lights have hit it a few times, "I just want to ask her a question."

    Lenny lets out a sharp, derisive snort.  "She'll be back in eight songs, buddy.  You wait until she comes back and flash some euro, you'll get your chance to chat her up all you want."

    Walking back to the bar and ordering another drink, a Tokyo Tea this time, Kiro sees the bouncer talking to the blue-haired woman in the corner of the club, only her head poked out from behind the glitter-covered curtain while the bouncer points him out.  So much for subtlety...[/b]

    Still needs work, I can't change my password and the gallery page involves doing a lot of tinkering to see the images.

    -Chrysalis

    For you password change goto your account and chose Change Your info and at the bottom of the new page there is a option to change your pass. Just type the new on in twice.(ex. Block 1: gogo block 2: gogo) That all you have to do and your password changes. in the example above your new pass would be gogo.

    As for the gallary problems what do you have to do to see the images. I have tryed to make it happen on my PC and I work just fine.

    Cheers
