    Chapter 2

    Ok... game over, guys...
  2. Wrath

    Chapter 2

[ Spyrer: interested in strategy games or fantasy RPG? Our other players are involved in those. ]
  3. Wrath

    Chapter 2

[ Reason: Not patient enough, got tired of waiting to see action results or something. ] [ We have one player creating a character as we speak, but he has been slow to start. We had many contacts due to my ads, and everybody said they wanted to play, but in the end I never heard from any of them again. ] [ Maybe it's better to call it quits and just concentrate on World at War / Whirlwind. ]
  4. Wrath

    Chapter 2

[ OOC: Yes, she is shouting into the radio. ] [ Angel has decided to quit the game; what do you think, should we end the game since people seem to be leaving or otherwise inactive? Looks like the cyberpunk genre is not interesting enough for most people... ]

    Chapter 2

Gyro, HB and Angel enter building 5 at about the same time. Gyro determines that the building is probably not going to collapse at least very soon, so it should be safe to go further in. HB leaves to interview the inhabitants. Angel finds some bullet holes in the rear wall, and proceeds to dig the bullets out. The few inhabitants who were extinguishing the fire have already left, but thin tendrils of black smoke still rise from the blackened, collapsed north-eastern corner of the building. Basically about half of the building has collapsed. The lobby seems to have been a bar of some kind; chairs, tables, a counter with the remains of bottles behind it in a shelf. The explosion in the north-east corner of the building has collapsed that part, but a set of stairs still exists in the western corner, leading up. Some blood stains cover the floor, and blood spatters can be seen here n' there on the walls. A leg seems to be protruding from under one of the tables, with a black boot in it. Gyro climbs upstairs and enters a new room through the shattered remains of what used to be a door. The room beyond has mostly collapsed, but a computer stands on the table at the south-west corner. Somebody has put a bullet through the screen and the computer itself though. There is also a large fridge next to it, a bookshelf with books about chemistry and crop types, a shelf with apparently biochemical tools of some kind, and a few drawers in the desk itself on which the computer stands. Some closets for clothes, and the remains of a small bed in the eastern wall, in a hole burrowed by the explosives. There is also a microscope on a nearby table. Downstairs, Angel notices a faint beeping sound; it comes from under one of the tables in the south-west corner. She bends down; strapped to the table leg, she notices a big pack of C4. A led on top of the explosive charge is flashing, emitting the beeping sound. Angel freezes in place, realising the danger she and Gyro are in.

    Chapter 2

The medic sighs sadly at Syker while taking care of his wound. - "Yeah, I've been bandaging people all night. Not a pretty sight, that gatling gun took out several of my collegues when we were trying to approach the AV. Took Sam's head off right in front of me. I try not to think about it, and just do my work." - "I live here if that's what you meant; the guns do not have electrical systems or cameras in them, we are trying to avoid using very high-tech devices in here because we believe that machines are the cause of much suffering in the world." Angel is digging around among the glass and shredded plant remains at the northern edge of the compound; the plant particles seem odd, red leaves with golden-yellow streaks in them, but otherwise she hasn't found anything very interesting thus far. The greenhouses have literally been blown to bits, which makes progress slow. Gyro arrives at the small building at the front [ 5 ], dragged by Jasmin. He looks at the smoking holes in the walls of the building, unable to decide whether to go in or wait until somebody has made sure that the building doesn't collapse on him. The rest of the team is resting from the hardships of the journey, doing nothing. Hiroko and Yurei are having a private conversation of some kind though.

    Chapter 2

The old man turns around to look intently at HB for a few seconds. Then, he motions to someone who looks like a medic; the medic nods, and goes over to examine Syker's wounds. Then he takes out a bottle of liquid skin spray and some drugs, and treats Syker with them. The old man returns to the building without saying another word. The little girl, identifying herself as "Jasmin", points toward the very low, partially collapsed building at the front [ 5 ]. Then she takes Gyro's hand and begins to lead him toward it. The two buildings at the back that have been totally destroyed appear to have been greenhouses, so there is glass everywhere near their remains. The least damaged building [ 8 ] has apparently not been bombed itself; it has just suffered damages in the explosions of neighbouring buildings. Angel notices that several of the inhabitants are eyeing her metal face mask VERY suspiciously... Hiroko goes to work as instructed by Angel, but she notes that it will take a while to edit the tape so she can't get to interview the inhabitants very soon. Yurei is still sitting at the back of the van, out of the inhabitants' view, so he naturally agrees to guard the van.

    Chapter 2

No matter how hard Syker combs the net, he can't find any mention of this compound, other than what little had already been found earlier. Gyro finds that the van's front has suffered some damages in the ramming; the van needs more than just a new paint job, but there is no immediate concern. Luckily, the garage doors seem to have been thoroughtly rusty. The old man ignores Gyro's badge, and turns around to go back into the building. - "Your badge doesn't mean squat here, policeman. We do not trust your kind here; who knows what Hell's machines you have hidden in your body, which was given to you by the almighty god. We do not stop you from doing your work, but we will not help either. For what it's worth, we don't know much more than you do." When the old man is gone, a little girl walks up to Gyro and whispers something. Gyro bends down so that the girl can whisper into his ear. - "Mister, the bad men took old Scrawny with them. He worked with the food stuffs, in the houses that burned. I miss Scrawny already, he could tell good stories. Can you bring Scrawny back to us?" Most of the other inhabitants go back to what they were doing, ignoring the team. [ OOC: Map of the compound; red areas mean damaged or collapsed buildings, with dark red signalling the worst damages (basically collapsed). I numbered the buildings to help with planning. ]

    Chapter 2

The team arrives at the complex some minutes later; a very large structure, covering an area of roughly 3*4 city blocks. The entire complex is surrounded with high walls, topped with a layer of barbed wire; towers in all corners make it look more like a castle than a housing complex, or a factory. Buildings in the complex are about 4 stories high in average, old concrete buildings standing stubbornly against the teeth of time. The area around the complex consists mostly of devastated and partially collapsed buildings. Old signs of battle dot the walls; apparently booster gangs have tried to get in at various times in the past, but the stationary guns in the towers are a serious showstopper for anyone approaching from the streets. It is unfortunate that the defences were not designed to stop aerial attacks though; clearly the guns can't be turned inward. The gate keepers allow the team to enter after they flash their CCA badges. Clearly, they seem surprised to see a federal task force, let alone cops. Most inhabitants appear to wear dark, hooded raincoats; normal people, young and old, just kinda out-of-town-looking. They seem suspicious, but allow the team to investigate. The buildings near the northern edge of the complex have collapsed partially, and blackened. Dark smoke can still be seen rising from the windows of these buildings, despite the rain. Some of the inhabitants are carrying buckets into the ruins to extinguish the last of the fire. The yard is covered in glass and debree from the explosions. A row of black plastic bags lies on the ground, apparently covering bodies. Xul counts 14 in all. Some women and children weep at the corpses, which leads one to believe that none of the bodies belong to the attackers. Soon, an old man arrives from the eastern building, apparently having been informed about the team's arrival. - "Who are you, and what is your business here? My fellows say that you are some kind of policemen, but why would the police care about us? As you can see, we are a bit busy right now, so if you'll excuse us..."

    Chapter 1

    - "Turf area information is not available; apparently their borders shift fairly often", Syker says.

The corps know that the CCA exists, but the operatives and teams in general are secret, for protection. The corps have much greater resources at their disposal, so they could just eliminate all the CCA teams as soon as they are formed if a level of secrecy was not available to them. Thus preference of civilian clothing, and also the TV-issue.

    Chapter 1

To Gyro's demand regarding gang information, Syker just shrugs. "Are you sure you can keep the details about these 700+ gangs in your mind if I read you the info?", he asks. Hiroko goes along with Angel's filming idea, but asks if she really wants to send that stuff up into the network. This is a covert unit, so she doesn't consider it necessary to blow their cover by referring to them as agents in the report. Corporate spies are known to track down and kidnap CCA officers to stay ahead of the investigators. [ Gyro: I considered the chopper idea for getting rid of Yurei and Hiroko; but you are not high enough in the CCA hierarchy for them to risk it, and you might have sent Syker away as well. Need to write what? Btw, it's "hotdogger", not "hotdagger". ] [ I will start a whole new chapter thread tomorrow; too tired right now... ]

Syker: Yeah, I know the feeling... Angel: Yes, you may consider any absent players at NPC status. Xul will drag around with you guys, but Hiroko and Yurei are taking a hike. I have been contacted by two volunteer players so far, and was kinda waiting for at least one of them to jump in right away, so that I could use that to play out Hiroko and Yurei; but I guess not. Dungeon crawl is not good of course, but pure story is also not a workable solution if one wants interactivity. Xul: Killing them off would be easy in this game. Have a nice trip.

    Chapter 1

    - "You welcome", Hiroko smiles back to Syker. He feels better already. Yurei has also been stabilised by now; he's sitting at the back of the van, trying not to move very much due to the wound. Syker goes into action with his cyberdeck after talking to the others. Through a satellite link, he accesses the public police database services of Los Angeles. From the gangs-section he soon finds insignia matching those of the attackers. - "Neon Samurai", he speaks aloud, "A large territorial gang in southern LA, identifiable from the excessive use of neon color in their hair, clothing and tags. Considered a minor threat to public safety; the Samurai collect road tolls, and will let an informed citizen pass without harm upon payment of this sum, which is normally 10 eb per passenger. In the event of escape from delivering payment, the Samurai consider these persons thieves because they will not pay for the relative safety provided by a Samurai presence in the area, and for this reason usually open fire. LA police has been known to co-operate with this gang in the past, for a fee of course." Syker finds too much information about rumored or actual squads of hitmen to be of any use to anyone. Gyro contacts the headquarters for the chopper; the answer is cold: "No aerial support available in the combat zone area. Over." Angel reaches the van in a few minutes; the van is moving a bit slower than before due to damage to it's front section. The complex is only 5 minutes away at this point, and the road seems clear. Looks like the time for last minute preparations, if there are any. [ OOC: Yesss... I got post number 100. ]
