All of Cadigan, especially Synners.
All of George Alec Effinger.
Neal Stephenson, of course.
Melissa Scott, especially Trouble and Her Friends.
RANT MODE ON:
Also Richard Morgan is awesome and incredibly NOT CYBERPUNK. I am growing frustrated with people insisting that anything written after 1999 could even be cyberpunk. I am similarly frustrated that people thing that anything written before 1975 is cyberpunk. After 1999, it's Transhumanism, get over it, and welcome to the new millenium. Before 1975 it's New Wave, pay attention. I will save my vitriol for stupid people who assume anything they like must be cyberpunk because it isn't and they are stupid.
RANT MODE OFF:
We now return you to your regularly scheduled stuff.

Style over substance means just that.
The Mechanic has never carried a weapon. I doubt he ever will. When he walks into the room the men look away, and the ladies look up coyly over their drinks.

Ironic that you would say that. Cyberpunk was a popular term among hackers in the beginning of the 90s. We're talking way ahead of these fancy graphical discussion boards we have on the internet today, back when you were lucky if you had more than 256MB of harddrive and monitors came in black and white, possibly with green and red and blue text if somebody had hotted it up.
The cyberpunk manifesto, and the later definitions are completely spurious in this discussion. After all, most of the best work in the genre, and its definitions were clarified long before it was written. As an aside, at one time I understood the manifesto was written by Lloyd Blankenship, one time editor at SJG, and possibly Lloyd's fuckups were the real reason the secret service want all medieval on Steve Jackson Games. In a completely unrelated move (I'm sure) Lloyd was fired the day after the case settled.

Anyone who has not spent considerable time studying Shirley probably shouldn't be calling themselves a cyberpunk. Not only is Shirley's work expressly cyberpunk, it is seminal.
City Come A Walkin' is almost too good for words to describe.
Read John Shirley.

Ok, let's try and go back on topic...
So far, we have three possibilities, as Encanta pointed it out:
(Roll=failed) - Sh!t Happens. The romance - no matter how long - had negative results on your character.
(roll= barely passed) - short-lived romance of minor consequences
(roll= passed with good result) - a serious romance, either long-term, or very important to the character. A positive thing, even if it ended in a sad way (i.e. accident, or something( - that's my addition.
Now, any suggestions for what could happen there?
I'd love to see the modified charts.
he is not alone among the people I know. I would be doing them a disservice if what they went through was portrayed as anything other than damaging to a person.I don't think anyone is disputing that, it is just a very ugly place to go. There are some things that I feel do not belong in games. Child rape and sexual abuse is one of them. Not because it isn't real, but because it isn't neccesary to portray them, and frankly most gamers aren't mature enough to try.

Cyberpunk and love are two themes that don't seem to mix. Love isn't going to get you that nice job at the Corporation, unless you love the right person, namely your manager etc.
Also, since most of the players are guys, falling in love with the female PC is kind of....awkward...
d00d, grow up and read the genre. I cannot think of a single cyberpunk story that does not include romance and or sex. Sometimes I hate to be a dick, but this time I can't apologize.

v3 is like new coke only if new coke has a huge shit in it.
of course that is just my opinion, to each his own.

I once worked in a place with four guys named Ross. Since I had a blue bi-level mohawk they called my Spike. I ran a vampire-ish game based in the Hero System in the 1980s, as people were turned they placed "y" in heir names as a sign of the change. So Daniel became Danyil, Becca became Becky, and I (the GM) went from spike to Spyke. I added the ! in about 1989 when I started working at the Masquerade and started tagging.
sp now I am Spyke!

In No 1 2 Love, my first Cyberpunk series (pre-2020), the EU was governed from Berlin and not Brussels as it is now.

Personal Grooming was thrown out the day after the 2020 rules came out. There was no good reason for it that was not covered by Wardrobe & Style, Seduction, or some other skill.

There is no listing for "old".
