  1. You guessed it right, Chrysalis.

As I've probably said before, I love Deus Ex 1. From my point of view, it is "the game".

So now, I've already played Deus Ex 2, although the European version is not out yet. You can buy the imported version already, but I've already ordered the original, so basically, I already have the game unofficially, and officially in some 20 days or so.

Anyways, with the legal question out of the way, I can say that the game do offer some good things, like options and good graphics, but fails in many other areas, such as keeping up with the fantastic and real-world-related story, advanced setup of hacking, inventory and etc, and overall "realism".

So now, to make my money worth (besides the patches that can only be used by the "clean", ie. original copy of the game and the fact that it is a Deus Ex game), I'm out for the music.

Note: I have found a program, but I've already asked how to do, and I am searching for other options, but I'm still waiting for the answer/instructions.

    So, the search goes on...

  2. I've already tried that, and that's how I found the "Extractor" thing I spoke of above. But as I said, it only allows you to open 30 files, so I'm looking for another program or so that could open them instead...

    But thanx anyways...

  3. Well, actually it is a file that comes with a game, and inside this file is the very music I am after (I'm a huge fan of game music). So now, uh, I want to open it up and get the goodies.

What's more, there was an extractor somewhere that was able to read it's content, but I don't remember the name, besides I think it was simply "Extractor" or something. But that one only allowed to open 30 files, which is unfortunate, because those 30 files (and probably more of them) are only the sound of the characters.

That's about it, I don't know anyting else I can say about it.

  4. I didn't know where to put this, so I posted it here.

Anyways, I need help with one thing. I need an extractor for *.csc-files. Anyone know where I can get one, or where I can download one?

  5. It is funny how everything I see and hear "becomes" Deus Ex. They had a moon base in that game! But you never had the chance to be there... I've probably played it too much...

  6. Taking out Saddam was a good thing, in my opinion. The US liberated the country. People there has more freedom now than they did under Saddam's police state.

But, I am skeptical about the whole War on Terror thing. The US can gain power through this. Setting up survelliance systems all around the States, why would they want to remove them later?

  7. Actually, these are pretty old news. I've heard about this before, in a science magazine.

One of the articles named that nano-tech is used inside some of the many body oils you can buy, I think there was sun oil too. They also mentioned that the particles could easily bypass the body's defences, because of their small size.

By the way, you do know that there are already nano-pants for sale? They can resist water even... sounds cool.

  8. Ok, I've heard this: That Europeans and some other part of the world, like Australia (in other words, everywhere there aren't any arabs) can travel how they want to the US and so on.

But, people with arabic/middle eastern background will have to "scan" both of their fingers, and take a photo of his face.

For us swedes, we must have some kind of new visa to travel to the US, and these rules will be set in motion this fall.

  9. Then I ask you again - why not use a newer system? Where can I get the music I like from, if I like artists that comes from Japan, or the Middle East, or Africa? Not every person has the money to take a chance in buying one, unknown CD. Internet has soo many posibilities - again, why not use them for the good of all?

  10. What I'm trying to say is that entertainment is too costly. You pay $20 for one song. Is that worth it? How can you decide if you like the artist or not, if you only hear one of all their songs?

The point is that they should use a new system. There is no universal rule that says this is the way it should be, that it is a rule implied by God, that you have to pay. In the end, it is the masses that decides. Those who control the system only wants it to be this way, so they can use us.

Stealing in the virtual world is not the same thing as stealing in the real world. You do not steal, you copy. When you steal the apple, you steal it. It is a material object. And yes, if this would be about stealing in a foodstore, then maybe someone would be out of food or something. But, filesharing is not stealing, it is copying. The original thing is still there, only now, there is a copy of that one.

  11. It's not only the excuse of money.

There are a few more points for P-2-P filesharing:

    1. Not Stealing

What do you steal? You copy the music, you do not steal it. If this would be considered stealing, then radio channels are stealing music as well.

    2. How do I get that one?

Okay, so I like, say, the Jordanian artist Abul Ham-Alad or something. I can't buy it, because they don't sell that kind of music, probably because he doesn't sing in english, AND that he probably lives in the Middle East, and why should they have cleberties there? So why can't I download it?

Sure, I could probably import it, but for what cost? $1000? For ONE album? I don't think so. Not if I can get it for another price.

    3. One Song

Okay, so I bought this album by DeathRockers, and I did so because I liked one of their songs I heard on the radio. I insert the CD into the player, and listen. To my dissapointment, all the songs really SUCK. I mean, you can't STAND THEM! They are awful, you'd be better of if you had never heard them. All except one. One song is the really good one, the one I liked on the radio. But I bought the album for what, $22, and only one of 10 songs were good.

So, will it really hurt the artist if you download ONE of his songs?

    4. Greed and Industry

The recording industry will NOT turn to newer ways of distribution. The internet is full of possibilities! Yet, they record albums, one by one. The artists don't have any connection with the fans, and wrong people gets the money.

Let's take this example: the internet is electronic. A new artist can distribute his music for his own costs, he doesn't need approval of some dude about his music. Besides this, if he is lucky, he will get the profit, not anyone else.

CDs requires material. Let's say that every person in Sweden has 10 CDs at home. This would make it a little over 85 million discs. Think of how much material this requires. Now, imagine that half the world had 10 CDs each. That would make it 30 billion CD units. A lot of material getting wasted because some jerk-offs think they are  the kings of the hill or something. There is probably many other people and contries in need for material...

All it takes is the common sence. No, I do not support pircay in form of downloading, copying, and selling them cheap. I do not support things like stealing ideas, in form of that my neighbour invents the new holographic cellphone, and I steal it and claim that I created it. No such things.

But when there exists a simple and sence way in using one of the greatest invention of all time (internet) for the best of all, why not use it? Why stick to old ways? Why not evolve?

  12. Would you still buy music if they set a price of $50 per CD? I, for sure, wouldn't.

Believe me, I want a working system, I want people to sell and buy, I like capitalism when everybody can agree, and have the money to make their business with.

But when some morasses run a system where they get the larger part of your money, and you won't even get any money back, that's when some things don't fit in.

When people download in the massive scale we do today, there must be a problem with the system. If everything would be perfect, then nobody would download stuff. They set a high price, and people turn to other options. That's how most revolutions took place.

Imagine if all music would be banned one day, and the only way to get any music was to download it, would you agree by never listening to anything ever?

And money isn't everything I think of. I have to pay my taxes, I have to buy myself clothes and food, I barely have anything left to "buy" entertainment with. Does this make me greedy?

If the artists really care for their music, they wouldn't get all upset that people download their music. The more downloads, the more famous they become. And fame is the key.

There is much more arguments for downloads than arguments against. Sooner or later, the system has to be changed.

  13. I like the idea that you can download what you want from the internet. I do it. Most of you here has probably also done it, or are doing it.

It is not wrong. Do I want to go out and just pick an unknown artist, a CD that costs about $30 here! It's insane! Maybe I don't even like it. That's why I can download music and listen to it. If I like what I'm hearing, then I think that the artist deserves my money. If I don't like it, well, too bad, but that's how the world is. Deal with it.

What's worse is that rich bands like Metallica is angered by downloaders. They have money enough to live their lives 10 times over without doing a piss, still they argue.

Music is not worth all that money. It's entertainment. It doesn't cure AIDs, it won't make bin Laden surrender. It's for joy. To make people happy. On the other hand, if music were able to feed all the hungry people on this planet, or build homes to people without one, then I'd gladly spend money on it. The artists' products isn't infinite, therefore his money should not be infinite.

Sure, they can go on with their facsist laws and regulations, but they can't arrest the whole world.

Too bad I've only got till New Years Eve to download things before their grip reaches this country...

  14. Hey, I have another question, while we're at it. What do you call alternate history cyberpunk for? Alternate Cyberpunk? Alterpunk? For example, take a look at the game Iron Storm (link: www.stormgame.com ), and then add hacking (there are turrets and info-computers out in the field), would it become alternate cyberunk then?
