Ok, so V3 according to pretty much everyone and their grandmother, is a horrible failure....

 

Maybe we can get Mike to see it as New Coke, and simply stop supporting it, instead re-releasing Cyberpunk 2020 and calling is Cyberpunk Classic or something like that.

 

That way you avoid the wierd fast approaching timeline problems that having the year 2020 on the cover presents, but get to go back to the game we all know and love.

 

In effect, just like with Coca-cola, returning to the formula that works and everyone loves....

 

Dump the timeline, or simply rewrite completely for say...... 2050...... or you could just leave the exact date out of the picture, and instead have a reverse order timeline, such as 50 years ago, the soviet union fell, 45 years ago new york was nuked, 20 years ago we invented cybertechnology, or however they want to handle it.

 

heck, keep the timeline exactly the same and offer it as an alternate earth scenario......... who cares.....

 

The year the game takes place in was never important, it was the world it took place in that drew me to the game. The believable, if sometimes far fetched, level of technology....

 

Star trek technology and cyberpunk don't work together....

Really I thought that was the opinion of a bunch of unimaginative cry babies who couldnt get past their old glory days of roleplaying and lacked the flexibility to try something new.

I think the first thing thats needed for a Combat Zone to come into being is cheap, if not free housing. Thats how you get all the low lives together in the first place. Then add the dude with a wife and little mouths to feed on a low income and now you have a mix of the honest and dis-honest. Conflict ensues.

This is one bad place man.

one gang helps you out but all they do is go across town and blow up another gang at the same time. Then the other gang sends their snipers and solos and drop bombs on our neibourhood, all the while your neibour may be a hard working family man or a memeber of the first gang ready to rat you out to his friends.
