  1. Hey guys! Most of you know me from Knighthawk's Cyberpunk Archive (thank you all for having made that such a successful project), but these days I'm working on a new project: Gamers on Games This is a youtube channel devoted to all things gaming (focusing primarily on non-electronic gaming). We're always looking for new material and contributions. I'm hoping that some of my fans from my Cyberpunk Archive will join me on this current project. Our channel is here: www.youtube.com/gamersongames Oh, and here's some R. Talsorian goodness to wet your whistle: (interview with Mike Pondsmith ad) (interview with Mike Pondsmith)
  2. You know you can use my stuff. Please keep the format (where it's important) if at all possible. Please also let me know which ones you're using. Thanks.
  3. LoL! I think at this point I'm basically just working on a fantasy conversion / plug-in / add-on for Interlock...*sigh* if my notes on my laptop weren't gone (from when it was stolen) then converting stuff over from Fuzion would be so much easier.

  5. I guess that works, but I think the idea of lessening the botches in the first place also works.
  6. Yeah, the 1d10 roll method has always grated on me, similar to the 1d20, but at least that's always had a greater range. I like using a 2d6 method and a MoS modifier for other things as well, but that's still in the tooling as well.
  7. Oh, one other thing, I've modified the Interlock system to run on 2d6 instead of the classic 1d10 roll. It works that if you roll two 1's, it's a fumble, while two 6's is a crit (still explodes), So you know, this turns the odds of a fumble from 1:10 to 1:36, this means that fumbles are significantly reduced, as are crits, making it that much more interesting and unique. I'm working on a "special effects" piece to go with the crits and fumbles (beyond the tables in the Cyberpunk 2020 book)
  8. Hey wanted to let ya know I've made some progress on a magic system. So far I've broken down into the following: Special Abilities: MAGE: Required for arcane spell casting. Determines howmuch energy the character can tap into and control without risking his own welfare. Tapping into spells too powerful for him/her can result in severe damage or even death. Unlike other special abilities, MAGE must actually bought at a level zero before buying higher ranks. CHANNEL: Required to cast divine magic, both clerical or Druidic (You're either channeling a diety's abilities or you're channeling the energy of nature). Same requirements as above apply. Memory Points: Intelligence is the basis for memory points. Each spell has a mana (until I can come up with a better name) requirement and a memory point requirement. Memory points determine how many spells can be memorized at a time. Once a spell is memorized, it's memorized until a memory affecting effect is put upon the caster, or until he attempts to memorize another spell. MAGE and CHANNEL abilities also modify this, as does the Eidetic Memory perk. Mana Pool: Mana pool is a measure of how much energy the character can channel within a certain time frame, before causing damage to himself (yes, it's possible to cast with a mana pool of 0, however the required mana manifests as damage on your character). Mana Pool is based on the character's BOD score (thinking of making it a combo, but not sure yet, possibly Endurance as well) and again modified by MAGE or CHANNEL score. Mana Points: Each spell has a mana requirement. This requirement is deducted from the mana pool. SPELLS, SCHOOLS, and SPHERES: The magic system is a tiered system, characters must meet a level-5 requirement with basic spells before being able to learn schools. While it is possible to cast spells from schools you lack ranks in, or if you don't have enough points in the lower spell level, your chance of failure is significantly higher...and you don't want to be around when your spell goes haywire! Still working on it, but that's what I've got thus far.
  9. I'm sorry I've been away for a while. Here's what's going on: The Demo Team is on hiatus until Mike Pondsmith tells me otherwise. I have been trying desperately to find out what's going on with the demo team since the end of GenCon 2006...still no luck. I think the only way that anything might get done with regards to getting The Chrome Berets moving again is to get a petition going, but I don't know how or where to find a good online petition. If anyone wants to help spearhead a movement to get the demo team back in order and on the march again, I'd really appreciate it. For those who've heard, or might care, my own gaming company: Knighthawk Games, is on the move, and my first game: BLOOD AND LEATHER should actually be reaching end-stage soon. It's already been starting to make appearances at local conventions, particularly Dreamation, DexCon, Ubercon, and I-Con. O.X.E.N. is still in the shop, and likely won't be getting touched till after I get back from my vacation in Florida. I guess that's about all. Catch ya'll later. -K

  11. I'm looking for revolvers with 3 -shots...I'm pretty sure I remember them being made, but I can't find any models...so I need some help
  12. If caught in one, and you're unprotected, you die. There's your stats
  13. Hey guys, I know they make 3-shot revolvers, but I can't find a modern example, can someone send me a link to a database containing one? Or send me an image? I'd appreciate it. Anyone know if they make 2-shot revolvers? I doubt it, considering at that point it'd be cheaper to make an over-under, or side-by-side pistol, but figured I'd ask.
  14. Ok, let me rephrase what I've been saying: AS THE GAME IS WRITTEN, like verbatim, the game doesn't work. And let's face it, because we've all had the experience, there are going to be players we'll have to deal with who are sticklers for the rules. When I play my games, yeah, I modify the crap out of everything. Hell, I rarely ever played CP2020 as it was written. The problem comes when I run events at conventions. There you have to be closer to the written materials. Why? Because I'm effectively advertising it. The only times I can get away with modifying it, is if I advertise it as such, which honestly doesn't help much to sell the product on its own merits. Personally, I think the game has merit, it just needs tweaking, in official print. That has been my take on it all along pretty much. Since my ex and I went through the main rulebook and were hunting down erratta, that's been my positiion. It's just things steming from that. Anyways, I'm too tired to continue, but I thought I'd throw my few cents into the ring
  15. To me, Fuzion took care of a few problems that nagged at me when it came to Interlock, namely problems with REF and BOD stats. Breaking them up I think helped to bring them down to acceptable levels. Also, the rescaling helped. And yes, I agree. If you've got sensitive information, like research, that isn't being shared to remote stations or offices, then yeah, keep it off the internet. Good example, when I worked for Merryl-Lynch, the editing stations were offline, we updated software by Discs manually transfered from internet-linked stations, it helped to prevent the loss of data by viruses, or malfunctioning updates. Raises hand......... I never stopped using Interlock..... never cared for Fuzion I always saw Night City as being that way anyway...... And nothing prevented this in the original game.... Who is to say that all computer systems adn security systems are even accessible via cybermodem, they certainly never were in my game.
  16. Under each alt cult's description it says EXPLICITLY how that altcult views other altcults. Alliances and Antipathies is the section. And considering how some view each other, great example being Desnai and Cee-Metal, there's a serious clash there. Same with Cee-Metal and Rolling State
  17. I think the problem is that they describe them , and their views of each other in such a way that it kinda prods the players to view altcults aside form their own in certain way. Now , I understand there is cognitive dissonance, but there are certain things that'll be implanted in your thought patterns by the way you're brought up, and with a lack of communication to the outside world (lack of internet, as previously discussed with altcults some-what secluding themselves, etc), it really makes things more confrontational than everbefore
  18. WHOA! Pull the bus over to the side of the road! Seriously, I don't think us going back to Interlock is in ANYONE's best interest! I think we're best served by continuing with FUZION as the system, but modify it for CP2020. That is my perspective. Now, as for championing CP v.3, I still believe it's got potential, I don't think it's a complete wash, but i think it needs retooling, and an overhaul. I can kinda see what they were trying for, and I understand that Cyberpunk is hard to keep ahead of the tech-curve (especially in the last 30 years, technology has changed so much, and so rapidly), but I think in their attempt to keep ahead of the curve, they've surpassed what most would consider acceptable or plausable. I have to admit, I like the concept of a city that is larger than even NY or LA, but not just horizontally, but also vertically. I also like the the fact that now Netrunners have to go to the location in order to hack, and the Mindcores ROCK! I think it's the sociology and some of the tech that really has been getting us.
  19. See, in a way i can buy that, but the problem is that seriously, it all seems a bit too cobbled together. And honestly, the viewpoints and way everyone regards each other, it seriously makes running campaigns difficult, more so than most other games. Personally, I'm using the system, and elements, but by and large ditching the rest for my own games.
  20. Barbarism rarely produces enormous technological progress. Self-generating, self regulating super-nanotech isn't going to come out of some mad scientist's basement - science needs an infrastructure. The technology in V3 is magic dressed up as science. If society has degenerated into a variety of uncooperative altcults, technology will inevitably decrease, as the factories, mines, farms, etc fall prey to scavengers, uber-powerful militarty-armed "gangs", or simply the omnipresent nanotech. Take a group of modern scientists, put them on a desert island without any fancy equipment, and the best they're likely to come up with will bear a strong resemblance to Gilligan's Island - no nanotech, no nuclear reactors, no metal, machine shops, electricity, etc. Also - if each altcult is jealously guarding its own secrets, that will further decellerate progress, as each scientist has to reinvent the wheel. Science and technology depend on more than a few clever individuals. Stray Catalyst Your right. There is no other way it could play out. THANK YOU! This is what I've actually been saying the whole time! Ok, so I'm not the only one seeing this problem. *Does my happy dance of rightness!*
  21. Again, possibly, but what they describe really seems like Mad Max , but with Technology still on the march. Actually, let me rephrase that, it's more like Judge Dred, with the megacities, Mad Max inbetween, and then massive technological jumps.
  22. I've ALWAYS run it as you can only run as many chips as you've got INT points, same as the number of audio options available.
  23. Ok, I gotta agree, on one side, yeah, it could be broken, but I believe with tweaking, it's got merit. It's like downloading MP3s off the Net, but I'd say downloading the data needs to be limited to information bases only, only ROMs, no reflex software. Downloading should take more than a few minutes, let's say..between 10-30 minutes per level, up to a cap of 3 (as higher levels would be custom tailored). Cost would be regular cost per level, with a multiplier for transmission, maybe a subscriber fee as well. What do you guys think? Do you guys mind if I take this concept and run hog wild with it, and post whatever I come up with on my site? I think it may be worthwhile
