We just hit the 400+ members point! It could be that some never come back but judging by the number of posts we now have on the forum 12k+ I would say that things are going rather well! More tea vicar?

Today we crossed the 10,000 posts point on the Views from the Edge forum. Thats not a bad churn rate for a year. Thanks everyone for joining in the community and making it a great place to hang out!

We have turned back on the Calendar feature - bottom of main page. The scripts were rewritten becasue of a huge bug that wouldn't show December which has meant that your birthdates will need re-inputing. Please go to Your Control Panel > Personal Info > Edit your Profile. You can also add interests, add a signature etc here.

Much to the delight of you all, no doubt, I have just reinstated the Blackhammer skin. Change the skins in Your Control Panel.

I have just upgraded the software to the latest release 3 RC3. I have been able to remove all of the polls that were in the wrong place. The only known problem now is AOL users not being able to post or PM.

Turns out that there may be quite a lot of problems!

Saturday morning I upgraded the backend to use an SQL database - things should be a lot quicker. I did som ebasid testing before I reopened the Forum but a couple of strange anomolies have come up. Firstly you may notice that on the main page the links to the latest thread in each catagory pointsd to the worng one. This only affects catagories with a last post before December 1. Secondly, some polls are creeping in on threads they are not supposed to be on. its a bit odd this one but I am trying to sort out what has happened and sort it. In the meanwhile if you see a poll in the wrong place just ignore it! If you find anything else that seems wrong please drop me a PM.

I have spent several hours this evening updating the back end of the Forum software which has included some subtle changes to the colour scheme. I have removed the Blackhammer skin for the moment as it requires further adjustments to ensure that it works correctly. Please go to Your Control Panel and add in your birthdate. This will give the other users a better idea of who they are communicating with. Due to some misbehaved postings I am bringing in tougher moderation methods. Simple rules - don't flame anybody else your off the boards. The moderators will give you one warning by PM and then the offender will be ejected. If anyone really does want to behave like a child, please do it on a kids forum not this one.

fRiCkLe is the 300th member of Views From The Edge having registered on Nov. 16 2001,18:48! this community is getting quite big.

Due to reasons beyond my control I was unable to do any work on the upgrade last night (had to keep girlfriend warm happy etc ) So the shutdown could happen at anytime over the next few weeks - I may wait for the next version.

The latest releae of the software driving the Views From The Edge Forum has been released. I intend to attempt to install it tonight or Wednesday night (now that my trip to see Goldfrapp has been postponed). This means that there is a small possibility that I may completley destroy the boards and I apologise in advance. On teh other hand I might just get away with it! Either way the boards will not be available for a period of time over the next couple of days.

Things go from strength to strength with the Views From The Edge Forum. This is the 6000 post on the boards! Thats up 1000 in just 20 days which surley makes us the most active Cyberpunk Forum in the World. So a big thanks to everyone who is joining in the fun. (Sorry, I put 19 days originally because I hadn't ripped of my Far Side Off The Wall Calender for the 29th!)

I have started to replace the default Emoticons/Smilies with some I have drawn up myself. They are ment to be chrome! Enjoy.

We don't think that its just Geocities that is stopping external use of images from its servers. Because of this we have implemented a service on the Forum to allow you to upload your personal avatars. You will find a special Fourm for this in the Moderators and Admin Catagory.

We hit the 5000 posts mark last night for this implementation of the Forum. Thats quite amazing when you consider that this is for this year only! The old forum got up to about 4000 posts in about 16 months and we have thrashed that in 10 months! However it not the amount of the posts that counts its the quality and we certainly have that! Thanks to everyone who has joined this community and made it a sucess!

If you want to use your own avatar don't use a Geocities account as it will not show unless its in your cache - which means that you might be able to see it but we wont! If you are desparate, I have set up a directory for members avatars - please e-mail me your image and I will put it in there. Try and build the image to 64x64 pixels as that is how the custom ones display.

After last nights upgrade to the system we are now able to offer you an additional feature to the Views From The Edge Forum! Skins - no not time to get gear out. If you go to 'Your Control Panel' > 'Account Options' you will see the 'Board Skin' option where we have added a Blackhammer skin - choose this for a different colour scheme for the Forums.
