  1. 13lb trigger pull?

Pardon me being from Down Under where we aren't allowed dangerous toys, but does that seriously mean you are 'lifting' 5 kilograms with your index finger?

Wouldn't you get a crampy finger and pull the whole point-of-aim off to the side?

    i.e. Major Contributing Factor?

Good lord, why not just put them in plate armour and have them run in with a club?

((And I shall quote my friend here, upon hearing the story : "Whyyyy??? Whaaaat did you do thaaat for? I wasn't doiiiing anythiiiing...whyyyyy!" lol. ))

That is exactly what that means and it was mandated IIRC by the NYPD to deal with the bad habit of officers who, as the saying goes, "wrapped their booger hooks around the bang switch" when they were not intending to fire.

So some Liberal idiot demanded a mechanical solution to an intelectual problem. I'm not too up on the LEO community(A couple relatives and a handfull of aquaintances) All of them condemmed the horrible NY shooting. Among the people that I know the only ones who were defending the NYPD were the more liberal types. I don't understand their mindset when they say it's ok for cops to spray a crowd of people just to hit one guy.

  2. The jammer they're talking about (not the ECM) is now the size of a grenade, and weighs about 2.5 lbs. Small enough to issue them to soldiers to keep on hand - suspected IED? Jam it. Bad guy on the cellphone, looking for reinforcements? Jam him. Drone? Jam it. This could put a serious dent in the ability to wage proxy war via electronic communications, and it's smaller, and cheaper, than a HMMV full of EWO's.

Possibly but there is the issue that those jamming Vehicles have alot more power than anything man portable. Yeah those grenades might be a decent temporary measure but a proprly set up vehicle radio will have enough power to "burn" through the interferance of anything man portable. There is a good reason that Civilian radios have built in limits to their power. I know of at least one case where some scumbag boosted his radio to the point where he was drowning out all other nearby signals. His neighbor ended up calling the cops on him and it was only luck that someone spotted the booster.

  3. If you're in a crowded and high-density city like NYNY, then of course you're going to hit people. Play the odds.

In Los Angeles and the SoCal area, I don't recall hearing about officers shooting people they're not aiming at. But apples to oranges; LA is urban sprawl. There's just not a lot of people packed together.

BTW, Buenos Aires has more people than NYNY and the federales are armed with UZIs. But I wasn't worried; if they shot someone by accident, the officer would be at their bed-side saying he's sorry. Americans however, like shooting each other.

    Not true.

Most American firearms owners pray that they never have to shoot anyone. We don't carry firearms because we want to "clean up Dodge City." We carry firearms because we simply cannot rely on the police to protect us. The US Supreme court made that ruleing decades ago.

I carry a pistol not because I want to shoot a person but because I live out in the country I have and will again encounter hostile wildlife. Be that wildlive be a rabbid fox, a bear, mountain lion or some white trash's pack of feral dogs.

  4. There have been Jamming Vehicles since the 1980s.

I have a friend who used to be a radioman with the USMC. Apparently they could jam communications while inside a modified HMMWV. it wasn't easy but they could do it.

I've also got an account of a French Foreign Legion Squad tracking down a Lybian Jamming vehicle in the 1980s.

The stuff they have now is an outgrowth of that and it's getting interesting. Then again there are reports of the Mexican Cartels useing such vehicles.

  5. I know this is resurecting an old Thread but after my move and having to 86 two computers I thought I had lost all of my old writings. I've found Crimson & Crome and I'm working on re-writing it with a Russian friend of mine. Hopefully I can bring it back even better than before.

  6. I'm not sure if someone already recommended this, but an Independent/Freelance Pest Squad or even competing Pest Control groups. Hell they could even be tied to gangs. In an area with lots of abandoned buildings and no real infrastructure, there are going to be lots of vermin, rats, stray cats & dogs, cockroaches, ants, etc. - in my version of Night City, African Snails are a serious problem... ( http://unlimitedcyberpunk.lefora.com/2012/...y-report/#post1 ).

Snails are particularly hard to kill, they eat dry wall and stucco, they eat garden crops - they could be a serious pain in the ass in the district. Normal pesticides don't seem to work.

How do you kill an infestation of giant snails? I'm thinking a pack of trained weasels or something.

How about you import a few Frenchmen?...

I'm sure they would love to have a steady supply of escargo. Heck have a french styled resteraunt where the owner pays Juviegangers to collect snails for him.

  7. I mean, per analogy - wear a shemagh on your head, a jellabiya and a belt of TNT sticks and wires over it and walk out into Mainstreet, Anywhere, USA. I have a gut feeling you will be pretty quickly shot by some folks considering you to present a deadly danger to them, thier families and fellow citizens... and these folks would have a good chance getting away with "legitimate self-defense" in court.

    You were saying...

Honestly I wish we were allowed to shoot some of these nutters.

  8. Assuming a high-end vehicle with little vibration (i.e. well-balanced, no wind buffeting, etc.) only slightly more difficult than shooting from an immobile platform. Of course, just firing from an open door/hatch is going to introduce all sorts of prop-wash or similar turbulence. That's going to be a problem.

I know that Coasties use a bungee system to stablize their barrets when they are unting Narcotrafficers Gofast boats. They also replace the high powered optics with a simple reddot...Not to mention practice as much as they can.

  9. One of the more interesting and effective Enemy Combattant elimination methods I have heard about was a Croat in the former Yugoslavia who carried a supressed American-180. now the .22LR is not a very effective round...but when you can put 40 of them into one spot they work like a shotgun blast.

Really as Mike points out hand to hand is a last resort, even Close Protection details(Ie Bodyguards) don't like hand to hand even though their job may prevent them from carrying a weapon.

  10. I frequently look here to find gun images that I like to use with the game.

There is a thread of cyberpunk guns somewhere on flikr, all made with pimp my gun but damned if I can find it again, might have the link on my works computer so will check tomorrow.

I'm a member of that group and It was the Cyberpunk guns thread where I got shit for posting a gun from a Cyberpunk game. Still I do otherwise like the group and If I get a request I will try to make other Cyberpunk guns for people. Heck I saved the code from making the AKR-20 so friends could further modify it for their games.

  11. What do they claim makes something a cyberpunk gun?

That being said, just because a weapon could be in cyberpunk literature doesn't mean it is a 'cyberpunk gun.' So ditch the wood & bakelite, and start messing with carbon fiber and polymers. If you don't want to do that, what's the point of putting it in this thread?

As you can read they no nothing about what makes Cyberpunk what it is and just focus on high tech bullshit. I'm currently concidering making a caseless machinepistol that has been detached from a cyberarm. Basicaly it would be an 8"X1" by 1.5" shape with a muzzle at one end and a 1"X2"X2" section at one end to attach the magazine. heck I could reword the recoil mechanism to get it even more vertically compact.

  12.

The gun I made was based on an image on page 185 of the Cyberpunk2020 rulebook. I posted it on a Fliker discussion thread about cyberpunk guns and had a couple people try and bite my head off and tell me that it wasn't a cyberpunk gun.

Still it's really cool that the Poles of all people would make one in real life.

  13. Rockwolf is in the southern side of the state, IIRC. Never met him, and I'm probably biased by the fact that I have a really bad track record with every Californian I have ever met but one. Could be a real prince. You never know.

According to Encanta I am a "Horrible, Horrible person"

I'm not going to say why as she's promised to eveserate me with her thumbs if I tell.

  14. Hey all.

Does Anyone else play Cyberpunk by a different rule System than Interlock? I'm currently trying out a Gurps Cyberpunk PbP game.

So far I've liked the setting and the game logs are interesting.

  15. Yup, Mort observed that I'm "absolutely no fun" years ago. What can I say, a leopard can't change its spots...
Leopards are near, or at, the top of the food chain. They don't NEED to change their spots! ;)

Mark have you been importing War leopard from Grannie again?
