Not to get too off-topic, but bombings happen on a regular basis in the Middle East. Why are Americans so weak they are crying about it?

 

 

Not partially well I have worked several jobs where there were Illegal Immigrants. I went through a Government funded program where the people running it turned a blind eye on students giving each other advice on how to hide one's Illegal status. I have had friends turn in their employer for using Illegal Immigrants and then have those who's job it is to enforce the law do nothing. Instances like these are what Conservatives want to stop.

 

From actually talking with Conservatives rather than listening to Media sound bites I can tell you that Conservatives want those here Illegally gone and in their place people who want to become Americans, Assimilate into our way of life and to become productive Citizens of the US.

Um no. Conservatives are the ones profiting most off of immigrant labor. Do you really thing the liberal labor unions are going to push for people that will work for less.

It's not about those from a Foreign country coming to educate themselves. I for one have enjoyed working with students from Foreign countries. Most actual Conservatives that I know have no issues with Legal Immigrants. In fact one of the most conservative writers I know is married to a Panamanian woman named Yolanda. When he writes of Panama and it's people you can tell that he loves that country almost as much as he does the US.

Of the Legal immigrants who make up my friends and family there is a loathing of Illegal immigrants. as those who came here legally with the intent of contributing to US society and/or becoming Citizens spend years of their lives jumping through dozens of hoops. The common perception of Illegals and one that experience has shown to be true is that Illegals cross into the US to make as much money as they can to send back to their homeland. While I have met a few that were decent hard working people, the fact that they chose to enter this country illegally is a black mark against them. I have also met Illegals who abused illegally gained prescription medication while on the job. Heck I had one once go on a tirade about how in the US he couldn't just get his Marijuana and Cocaine. The reality is usually between these two extremes.

As far as Liberal Unions go I used to be a member of one. Said Union is one of the big ones and is supporting Illegal Immigrants as they make money off of them too. One Union Rep was actually arrested for harboring Illegal Immigrants. There is a reason that the Union that Cesar Chavez founded went from Beating up Illegals and leaving them for dead to working to bring in immigrants from other countries. Simply put they have found that they can exploit them for political gain.

As far as Bombings of Innocent people in the US goes...They are very rare and NOT PART OF US CULTURE. In fact in Western European(including Hispanic) Culture suck acts are considered supremely cowardly. In fact one Hispanic friend of mine after scraping up women and kids felt a great deal od Satisfaction when he shot roadside bombers in the Middle East. The reason he felt satisfaction was because he was eliminating someone who by their indiscriminate actions was killing women and kids.

The Bombers in Boston are especially heinous as while they came here legally they attacked us when we gave them an opportunity to succeed and become contributing citizens of our country. By them Bombing Innocent people it is viewed by many as a cowardly act of betrayal.

Is it the genre (cyberpunk), the campaign or other factors (travel distance, time, etc.) that is spurring the lack of interest?

Other factors but we are getting a few people who are interested.

So far things are going really bad.

First game the GM had to cancel because of a family emergency. The second game I was the only player out of seven who said they were interested to show up. Now we need to find some new players or something to fill the group.

 

It isn't Immigration that Conservatives have a problem with It's ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION and the failure to enforce the laws already on the books.

 

They are enforcing the laws; when someone is caught that is not a US-citizen, they get deported. That's like saying because someone broke into your car, the police aren't enforcing the laws.

One thing to keep this in perspective is that the Taliban thinks that the Chechens are a bunch of straight-up crazies.

Well does anyone remember what happened when the First CIA team in Afghanistan encountered the Chechens? A Squad of Chechens overran a Northern Alliance Hill without firing a Shot. The Chechens simply ran across No Mans land and up the Hill. The CIA Team leader could have popped the whole quad with his carbine but his radio man had the Air Force on the radio. The CIA Officer retreated with the local NA commander.

The Commander commented about how frightening the Chechens were.

The CIA Team Leader replied that he had no fear of the Chechens and pointed at the top of the hill. At the top of the Hill the Chechens were celebrating and making rude gestures. Right as a Chechen was doing a Michael Jackson impression a 2,000 pound JDAM vaporized the top of the hill.

If a lot of Americans Get their way Chechnya is going to wish that they had stayed Russia's problem. Then again it doesn't help that a Generation over there has grown up under Wahhabism and has been radicalized.

You may be right, but it's certainly going to add fuel to the fire of self-righteous conservatives who feel that immigration is the root of all evil - which is ironic, as most of the native americans I know aren't all that conservative, and immigration to America did them more harm than it's done anybody in our generation.

 

I hope they catch the second suspect alive. The dead one appears to be guilty - unless it's a coincidence that he was out carjacking, and throwing explosive devices at cops, and had a bomb strapped to his chest when he was killed.

What is really ticking those on the Political right off is that immediately after the bombing the MEDIA started claiming that is was probably some RIGHT WING NUTJOB TEAPARTY ACTIVIST because of the date or some other BS.

Instead of simply reporting the news the media has been trying to sensationalize the event and spin it to fit their political biases.

In other news it seems that these two were radicalized and there is a dangerous fundamentalist Imam preaching Jihad that these scumbags were going to or they somehow got in touch with an AQ sympathizer who recruited these two as their attack does fall under an AQ signature.

I'm giving it time.

 

Honestly whenever folks who have some battlefield experience start speculating about things like this with nothing more to go on than the vids and pictures and news stories available I am reminded of the OKC Bombing with Timothy McVey. A retire Army General made a compelling argument that it was in fact an attack using a Soviet Katusha artillery rocket....

As a Civilian I have seen the results of homemade devices that had a bigger bang. Then again most of the time the locals make IEDs to take out stumps in the middle of nowhere. They don't pack the devices with shrapnel to inflict casualties.

I'll second Comp here. I know from experience that without constant effort the "land" will take back whatever you build down in those regions.

 

I had a client years ago that manufactured steel trusses for construction. They went bankrupt and when I was back in the area 15 years later I stopped to look at the facilities.

 

There were no facilities, it was all blackberries, gum thickets and rabits with HUGE rattlesnakes everywhere.

 

there were rusty remains of trusses and sheet metal around but you had to dig. That's how I found out about the rattlesnakes

Well a friend of mine from off of VFTE is starting a Cyberpunk2020 game set in the Gulf Coast of the American South.

Our first game is supposed to be a simple delivery job into the Everglades. It will be interesting as we have Cop, a Corp, a solo and a pirate.

This should either be really good or go really bad.

In Afganistan vs. the USSR the Afgan people were being armed, trained and Funded by the Western nations. Plus the Afganis introduced the poor Russian conscritps to heroin and Opium. In the End it was the USSRs verion of Vietnam where Militarily they won but they lost the politica/cultural war.

I know I should probably have pointed out which firearm is legally the machinegun. it is the Ruger AC556 below the Colt Sporter Rifle.
