Interesting point about the teletubbies. Their target audience consists of two-year-olds and nursery school children, but I know for a fact that a large number of nurseries have banned the showing of teletubby videos, as they set a bad example for the children in that they act too stupidly. There is also an implanted television thing in chromebook 3, which I refer to as the teletuby device.

And I am suprised that noone has picked up on the homosexual connotations of a certain teletubby.

I have heard that too. Child-care specialists, and occasionally parents, are tyring to raise their kids to be adults, while Teletubbies encourages them to act like, well, babies! ???

And I was actually planning to try get to Melbourne for New Years

Ahhh, Australia. I have never been to Australia.

However, The first weekend of Octoberfest (which is in Sept for some reason) in Munich is when all the Aussies and Kiwis come up.

I have some WONDERFUL stories about the young Aussie and Kiwi ladies I met standing on top of long wooden tables with a Maas in my hand at the Hofbrau tent. :)

Or so I am told.  :(

  3. I will help you find Mr Right in three easy steps.

    1) Lay down

    2) Close your eyes

    3) Go to sleep

Only there will you find Mr Right!  ;)

For your waking hours you will have to settle for "Mr. Not Perfect But He'll Do"

  4. I think in this case the terrorists were convinced they were going to die, but understood that you don't want to piss off the international community. I'll bet they would have eventually let all of the 'foreigners' go.

You are correct in that they wanted to draw attention to their cause. But killing people that are not related to the conflict you are trying to draw attention to is to defeat the purpose.

And again the lack of medics on the scene with antidote injectors for the Fentytol (sp?) also demonstrates a lack of planning on the Russian side. Even if the gas was disigned for outdoor crowd control. At least phone ahead to the hospitals and tell them what kind of antidote to use.

    Well I guess I can wish can't I.

Now darthmurph, do I send this to which address in Fort Sill?

Or if I put on the cover Capt. Redleg, Fort Sill will it get there?

    -Chrysalis

I am so happy to say I have managed to avoid going back to Ft Sill since 1995. I am at an undisclosed Air Force Base in the mid-west.

Right next to the flying-saucer hangar. (Air Force fags get all the kewl stuff...)

all things considered the russians did a good job,

Again, what we don't have any resolution on is a) the negotiations and how well the Russians handled that and B) how well trained / informed the secuirty forces were.

The story I heard was that a little kid went nuts after 58 hours of confinement which prompted the terrorists to fire shots at or as a warning to the kid. The Russians were caught off guard thinking the terrorists were executing people began the assault without confirming / denying what was actually happening.

  9. I looked up BZ at work. It was sort of an airborne halleucinogen (sp?) kinda like LSD. The idea was it would leave the enemy dazed and confused (insert Jimmy Page guitar here...) but would not kill them.

It has effects similiar to atropine, but is completely unpredictable. It is not terribly lethal though, so I am begining to think it was not BZ.

If it was BZ, it would have made sense for the Russians to have about 50 special forces medics standing by with atropine anti-dote injectors. They could have followed on the heels of the assault force and started poping the injectors into the butt-ocks of any knocked out hostage (body without a gun or C-4 strapped to it) and probably saved a quite few lives with minimal side-effect.

I don't think it was BZ. I think it was some kinda of non-P nerve gas. GB-light or something.

Now why is this so interesting you may ask.  In 2000 Governor Karnahan of Missouri died in a plane crash while running against John Ashcroft for Ashcrofts Senate seat.  Ashcroft lost to the dead man because of the sympathy vote and Jean Karnahan, the dead mans wife, was appointed by the Democratic governor of Missouri to take her dead husbands seat.  She can only hold the seat for 2 years as she is an appointee and not elected.  This directly resulted in the 50-50 split in the Senate that was broken when Jim Jeffords declared himself "Independent" thus resulting in a 50-49-1 split giving the Democrats control of the Senate.

Well, I am from Missouri and currently living there (although not to my liking) and I can tell you two things. 1) Mel Carnahan was voted Missouri governor twice by landslides, and was likely to beat John Ashcroft anyway, and 2) Jean Carnahan is behind in the polls and likely to lose to Jim Talent because she is INCOMPETANT to serve as a US Senator.

  11. Well, there is a wide variety of non-lethal gasses out there, o fwhich CS is one. (And yes a resistance to CS can be built). But it appears this is a lethal gas, at least in certain, air-borne dosages. WHat I am seeing on the news now is that the doctors in Russia cannot even get their government to tell them what it is to treat the former hostages! Now that's fu**ed up!

malek is right the survival of the hostages is the most important thing they take in to account. the russians did what they could to keep the most hostages alive. and a gaging terrorist can not (aim?) well.
(most footage of real terrorists i have seen they pray and pray to hit something but air.)

Well, I don't know about that. First, the one thing we have very little information on is the negotiations. The Russians may have tanked the negotiation bit and therefore the thugs started killing people.

And now the news (who could not possibly be wrong ) is reporting the gas used was not CS at all, but some sort of mystery gas that may have actually killed some of the hostages.
