  1. Again I love cats for all their contributions to humanity.

    Sniffing out bombs

    Tracking down Criminals

    Seeing eye cats

    gaurding against burglers

The constant and never ending love and effection

    Oh wait, that's dogs.

    What do cats do again.....

    :D  :D

  2. January 1986, 8th Grade, Mrs. Oswald's class. Our music teacher made the annoncment over the PA system.

February, 2003, asleep on a Saturday morning. My mom called to tell me.

Never thought I would have to see that again. I think, for us sci-fi fans, and all those who see the world beyond what's right in front of their face, this is the worst kind of tragedy. Can't blame anyone, it just happened.

    God bless 'em.

  3. ITRW modern tanks use a variety of armors made from composite maerials, steel plates, spaced armor, armor inside armor at off-setting angles etc, etc. their value is expressed in millimeters of Rolled Homogenous Armor Equivilant, RHAe for both Kinetic Energy rounds and Chemical Energy Rounds.

The stats for a T-80UD for instance are KE=600mm, CE=1000mm (without reactive armor).

Has anyone experimented with Cyberpunk rules for this?

  4. Interestingly enough that you should mention B-20, I recently work for (briefly) a LTC who was the TF S-2 for the Ranger element of MG "Mad" Wayne Downing's scud-busting expedition to the western desert. He said the movie, while it had some real Hollywood additions was fairly accurate.

More recently I worked for LTC Mike Steele, G-3 10th Inf Div (MTN). (CPT Mike Steele of Black Hawk Down fame).

They're operating under the observations made since the adoption of the M-4, actually.  They've noticed that the reduced weight doesn't really subtract from overall accuracy and that there is no notable reduction in overall performance in regards to standard infantry applications.
In this case, what not make every effort to reduce the weight that your soldier has to lug around?  A less fatigued soldier is a more effective soldier and by adding these special sights and such, they're a much more accurate soldier as well.  So after all this you get an increase in performance per soldier at a reduced mass that your logistics has to pack from place to place as that soldier gets moved around.

    Umm...winning? ;)
    Mark(psycho)Phipps( HAHAHA! )

Exactly. The average US Infantryman carries the same amount of weight as a Napoleonic infantryman! Evry time we make somethinglighter (MREs and plastic canteens etc) we just give "Joe" more sh** to carry. The CoS of the Army told Army researchers to bring that to an end. He wants evrything a soldier needs to survive and win in a fight at under a certain weight (40lbs I think).

  6. I'd say ask the players if they are using the shoulder-stock or if the stock is folded (at least on the AKS-74). If it's folded impose a penalty. That will have a bigger impact than the shortened barrel length I would think.

Also that in most games the small arms have to do the killing, as both sides usually lack the heavy weapons (eg: MMGs, Mortors or Artillery) that actually kill most people on the battlefield.
This is especially true in an urban genre where engagment ranges are cpmparitvely short.

We are not comparing like with like here.

    True Dat!

  8. The US military has quite a few favorites of mine...

    CSW = Commercial Sex Worker

    Hooker.

Referred to in a medical memorandum waring against STDs.

I was mistaken, it is "commercial" not "contracted"

And it was an Air Force memo.
