  1. After seeing member Count Zero's post about the Sprawl Trilogy I got to wondering. Have any of you ever run a game set in the Sprawl Trilogy setting? If so can you give some details of the campaign and how it worked out? Seems like acool idea. I can't imagine why I never thought of it before.
  2. I am pretty sure I saw pine-tar on the heel of the archer's right hand...
  3. My first thought: 'Wow' My second thought: 'New hero for fat guys everywhere!'
  4. "Let's use special effects so we can get our jollies watching Bush get shot. Oh, and we'll write a movie around it to make it legitimate 'art'".
  5. My point was that it started in a very cookie cutter manner. I may like the book when I get back to it, but after having just re-read the sprawl trilogy it seemed a little week.
  6. Actually, I think that was precisely the problem!
  7. Picked it up, but could not get into it. That does not mean much though. I often have a hard time starting a book, and then later when the mood strikes me, whz right through it.
  8. That is a good point. I credit Mr. Pondsmith for trying to think outside the CyberBox, but one would think as a game designer he would understand that his target audience has some expectations. In this case he said "screw them I am doing it my way". That tends to be a not-so-good idea, particularly when you are planning on SELLING said product. You know, for MONEY. I guess what I am saying is that I assume Mike intended to make money selling CP3. If that is the case he made a pretty gross error in judgement when designing a game that failed to live up to it's market's expectations. (I will say this, a rehash of 2.0.2.0 would have been a let down. I expected Mike to try something to break the mould, but this was not the way to do it.)
  9. You should give Pattern Recognition a try. It is very different from his past works, and is one of the more original ideas I have read is some time. If not, you can just wait for the movie...
  10. Hey, don't be afraid to post a well-thought opinion on this forum. It's always good to read opinions that have more substance than "This game sucks #%# balls. Now my system totally PWNZ!" And I think I agree with the bit about the different "races". Goes outside my feel of what "CyberPunk is."
  11. Anyone know if there is a site with a good catalogue of CP images?
  12. I read nothing but negative reviews for Neocron, so I stayed away from it.
  13. Imagine for a moment that a PC game developer came to you and offered you generous compensation and resources to develop a Cyberpunk themed MMO. What would your concept be?
  14. I don't listen to much metal anymore these days, but Queensryche's Operation Mindcrime is still, hands down, one of my all-time favorite albums EVER. So QR released a sequel, and I am wondering if it is any good. I am viewing it kind of like those Highlander sequels. I would rather just not chance ruining the experience. Any opinions?

That is a pretty good analogy. I understand Mike was trying to do something different, but is it really "CyberPunk" the way the "market" (meaning US) perceives CP? Originality is god, but so is delivering the goods the customers want. Not the goods you want them to want.
  16. Dunno. I always end up GMing...
  17. I just saw this. I am sure I am WAY behind the power curve, but I still think it is cool! Chrome Berets Announcement Scroll down to January 06.
  18. I tried Matrix Online and just could not get into it. Anyone know of any other CP MMOs in the works?
  19. I absolutley enjoyed Altered Carbon. I am waiting for Broken Angels to come out in normal people paperback. I can't stand those big trade paperbacks. They annoy me for some reason. In the meantime I am finally reading Pattern Recognition.
  20. The art killed it for me. It is hard enough as a GM to keep four or five people entertained for 3 or 4 hours, but holy sweet mother of gawd, I can only imagine the Barbie Doll jokes. "C'mon Barbie, let's go party! I'm a Barbie girl, in a Barbie world..." Plus, it kinda killed the CP feel for me. Anyway, I am going to (one of these days) look at a home modified version of 2020, which I kinda like in the first place anyway.
