Eheh. Heheheheh. Muahahahahahahaa... Oh I love it. You're definitely getting into the vibe of the game... I'd like them to generate from in-game events. So far, nothing memorably stupid has happened. I suppose 'Murray' could be 'Magnet' because of all the rib-smashing leg-penetrating damage he's taken so far, while everyone else got away with some grit in their eyes. (That was luck by the way, my Dice are still coming for you...)

Right turn. Nice and easy, pouring like oil round that bend and onto East 24th, where the buildings grow up tall and glassy. In shadow cast in the wind, orange salts down from on high. Jets swirl between, eking along cracks and picking at the stone-work. Landscaping - gardens, planters, a fountain spewing thin mud. Plant leaves look black as they shiver and tear. Convoys ahead start wheeling left, into the entrance to Dar Al Zaika. A broad flat concrete shelf juts to the edge of the road, trimmed in paisley fibre-optic structural embroidery. Sizzling blue. The wait to advance is

I've been trying to run with the Military thing of saying who you are first. I could go <Eyrie to Victor, check six.> if you liked? I've also been wondering if you want/need to separate text and voice. #voice# <Text>? Also. We need to get you guys Callsigns. Everyone else's are in-jokes of some kind. Bundy is Bear because Bundy Rum is advertised with a Polar Bear in Australia. In general, they should be created by your friends, not you. And hey, if MohZak cracks your comms and you're speaking in-the-plain, what's he gonna do?

@ Master Drow Dameon : //ooc : I assume you've buffered the signal from when you started listening, and can/have saved it all. Dameon is still struggling with the encryption. He can feel that it isn't too tough, but he needs time, time to think and research, not be in a truck fanging through a dust-storm...but it's close, very close to a normal cellular phone signal. @ All The traffic solidifies - convoys. Lots. You can see at least twelve 'packets' of vehicles. L-Fives, Suburbans, a limousine parade. They bunch and tighten, and form into a neat grid, everyone leav

//ooc: Muahaeheheheh. Shiny (14+6=22) vs Taxi driver (12+1=13) crit fail... @ Eraser "Chuck" O'Connor : "Bleedin' 'eck." @ StrayCatalyst "Shiny" Nelson : A long time ago, it was V8's with all the torque. But electrics don't have all the transmission, all the linkages to make heat and lose energy to friction. The power goes to the road. It goes when you tell it to. The L-Five snaps forward. The necks of the crew snap back. You feel the chassis loft as the powered-axles wrench the tires around in a maximum-torque, maximum-grip launch. The Taxi driver, s

Sound Police interrogation tactics are what's required, and the guy OMA have arrested is one of their own site managers. What you do to him, Sophia would assume could be done to her...if she screwed up. Shouting, bright lights, confrontations with evidence : yes. At the extreme, and I quote Sophia : "You are without further value." Boom. ...if she gets really angry, she'll shoot. Not torture. That requires time and prison facilities and giving a damn. But shooting is 'her call.' Now, there is that rumour that two of the 'last' team may have been captured by Moh-Zak.
  7. I'm a bit of an Excel geek, and I've just built something in Excel tonight to manage my players stats for Babilon. The deal is I can type in a name, stat and skill and get a read-out of the numbers without having to read through charts. Bad memory for numbers. This makes it tidy and fast. It's vlookup/hlookup powered...just putting it out there - anyone got any tidy systems for such a thing? Anything they found really handy? How do you lay out your data? (& I know there's =randbetween(1,10), but it just doesn't have the viscerality of throwing the dice...)

@ Eraser "Chuck" O'Connor : //Where is everyone sitting, btw? Nelson is driving and Murray is in the trunk...is he also in charge of the Dillon? <Good spot X-ray.> Says Roman. A Pin appears on TacNet, pulsing orange, 300m ahead. The Taxi is slowing. "Got it." K-shak. Murray readies on the rear-window release to pop it open. Dameon mentally keys through his Deck, sucking in the signal. Throws up a wall of hex in his glasses. Looks like uncompressed audiovis. Piping it into a player produces a lurid pixel-hash of fluro pink and green

@ Eraser "Chuck" O'Connor : She considers this, chooses her words. "I don't mean to cause alarm, Mr O'Connor, but my enemies know few bounds. They may indirectly target you through your family. This goes for all of you. If you become aware of it, report it. To me or Bowen." Bowen agrees curtly, as serious as granite. She continues. "We will investigate. It's a collective risk, not a personal one..." she stops, looks to Bowen. Bowen's brows darken, to a killing face. "We'll fix it." Jarret humphs out a giant, eery grin. He still hasn't blinked. Bundy and M
  10. YES! Some. Anything resembling accounting will be handled montage style, consuming a certain amount of time and revealing some useful fact. I may be crazy but I'm not cruel. Less 'infiltrate', more 'make a friend/figure out who's who.' You only have a month, you don't speak Italian, and it's not secret who you are or why you're there. Your smart glasses will be doing lots of translating, and you will likely have terrible pronunciation. 11. Phil leaves you to finish loading, and dashes into his office, answering his slate. Minutes pass, with Murray finishing a new dressing on his leg, and the vinyl smell of bags and zips and buckles as you pack. TacNet shows green friendlies in a school of dots swimming toward the garage. Yellow (neutral) contact dots flutter and fade. A broke-down Taxi, filters choked. News team on a roof, getting a panning shot of the city. The Garage door motors clank, grind up. The storm outside whips and whorls in under the edge, like a super-size can of Red Smoke under rotor blades. Smells like

ROFL. You lot seriously made my night with that... You do have a Dillon Aero that has high-angle traverse, and M203's. You should be fine. I'll give you warning of Tanks or IFVs. There'll be some buildup. And Stingers are a bit old school, doncha think? What's new in MANPADS? (An acronym I truly dislike.) DNI : DNI is output only. It's a mental keyboard and mouse. The SUV - LIFV - L-Fives : The dashboard and windscreen are the desktop, and just as configurable. You can skin it, change the layout, make the font size of your speed match the spe
  13. I have been wondering - will 'surfaces' look very much more complicated and intricate in future? That seems to suggest so. Lots of intricate internal forms, maybe finely detailed interlocking surface patterns, or a grid of fine gold dots for an electro-sensitive material...the above would certainly tend in that direction. You might be interested in this guy's work : http://www.michael-hansmeyer.com Crazy crazy stuff. You'll probably have seen his Subdivided Columns. 14. @ Eraser "Chuck" O'Connor : //ooc: Cool. Done. Where do you want to put it in the truck? Murray is happily field-stripping his 240B on a table. "I'm awright." He does look a little pale, but he should be fine. "I'll change my dressing before we roll out. Cool?" //ooc: Due to first aid, Murray's damage will be treated as '2 points' on his leg. He Needs a few days to heal it, but it's a graze, not a puncture. Phil nods, and passes out a can of .50. Phil helps the team layout their bags, account for gear and pack it in the vehi
  15. @ Master Drow Dameon : Flare, grenades and gas mask go in a kit-bag. Good thinking. Assume your flash-lights also do IR, for 'invisible illumination' via your smart-goggles. You can bring the Barrett - you might need to stop a vehicle. Otherwise, Sophia's team 'normally' use Cheytac 408 or Steyr Elite Scouts. Let's swap this for a SPAS12. Sophia likes them. This is a Malek game world. The correct answer is 'Yes.' Think '40mm Grenades and M203.' Your Vehicle is 'wired' by Phil, and he'll be doing a lot of that stuff remotely.

Apologies for delays. RL chaos has been reduced to a background roar, but there may be another hiccup week's end. I shall persist. I've got a plan for this next chapter, please, keep thinking 'teamwork.' I'm going to turn it up a bit. Also, Dameon - you have a new (potential) friend!
  17. In the garage, through the middle door, is a small room. Probably a converted store-room. There's another door at the end, a half-way open side-winding roller door. Phil doesn't let you any further in. In the store-room are some chairs and a thin table along the wall, a camera/monitor setup on the western wall. Stuff that has been scanned is spread out along the table, in zip-loc bags with barcode stickers. Every so often, Phil goes into his 'office' and 'returns' with a newly scanned item. "Video?" Phil asks for it. Tears open a bag, tosses Dameon his deck. The case feels warm - it
  18. Opposed rolls are fine...winner then chooses a strike, loser chooses a defensive action? Apply damage/decrease damage? Key Moves either strike better or defend better. And are chosen from a list...?
  19. Who strikes first? Is it initiative roll and back and forward after that? Noting My only comprehension of MA is from movies, & within a 'contact' there seems to be an escalation. The risks increase, the payoff gets bigger. The only dice mechanic I have seen that emulates that is from GW Inquisitor, where you rolled %age dice under your CC skill. Your opponent had to roll under theirs to parry, & if they rolled under 1/10th of the attack, they got a free counter-attack. Which could also be parried - but the numbers kept getting lower. Something like that, perhaps e

Right. I'm slightly stumped just now. I want to tidy this bit up and get you to meet Sophia. She's on her way home from a meeting. What needs to happen is Chuck and Dameon get downstairs and have a chat to Phil, and 'report' on what happened, and explain what they 'got' - Chuck, his passes and whatever he might have 'figured' from looking at the bodies, Dameon with his video. Dameon has video only from the moment he started recording, till they drove off and he lost signal. Shiny is free to add his bit too - his vehicle was something of a target, and his perspective wou
  21. //@ Eraser "Chuck" O'Connor : "Yeah. Get measured up, then you can give me a full report in the garage. Oh. And let 'em know, Sophia is an hour out, meeting has wrapped. She'll want a full report too." The measuring takes a few minutes...
  22. The lounge is a sprawling room with a wide picture window facing an internal walled garden lush with elephant ear ferns, neon bright bromeliads and tiled, cubic pots stacked in pyramidic arrays. A shadow ripples across the garden - shade cloth waves, tugged by the storm outside. You can't see the sky. Sight lines in are all blocked. In the lounge are four cheerful quick fingered women, Phillipino, maybe Thai. They speak excellent English and chatter incessantly about the husband of one of their number. "But I've heard that medicine is, can be bad for the heart as well. Raise your arms

Right now, no. Go shower. You can have your toys after you're clean. Beyond that, going unarmed in Babylon is like going naked outside. You just don't do it. Anywhere. Ever. It's asking to get dead, or worse. Death is only a minor horror here.
  24. The security door swings open. The guy that follows is dressed like an electrician - heavy blue trousers and heavy blue work shirt. He has an MP7 in a quickdraw holster strapped to his right leg. His belt is a gallery of small tools. Loose black curls and a hard beak of a nose. Olive skin. Yiddish to the bone. "Good afternoon." He addresses you. "I'm Phil. Tech support. With that in mind, I'm going to ask you leave as much as you can here so I can scan it all." In his left hand is four plastic zip bags, big ones, stuffed with folded clothes. He tosses a bag to each of you in tu
