    System Crash

Apparently there is new guy in town and he's very cyberpunkish on sight Game is currently in beta, just started it and looks promising. You can download beta from here: http://www.irontowerstudio.com/forum/index...pic,3281.0.html More info here: http://www.roguemoonstudios.com/systemcrash/index.html

    Strange Fruit

Good morning/afternoon/evening (depending on time zone) folks. I assume most of you recognize Strange Days. Aside from the movie itself, I like the soundtrack (most o it). One of bands that perform on this soundtrack called "Strange Fruit", apparently is difficult to find (at least for me). No fanpage, no official site, nothing at all. Did anyone tracked down some info about that band? I did basic research way back when i first time saw that movie, I've done this today again, still nothing. Thought that maybe someone here had more luck. Cheers
  4. Both links lead (among other things) to readers reviews. Reception of book described there is mostly similiar to my afterthoughts (perhaps with exception to favorite story, my personal no.1 is Pocketful of Dharma - most cyberpunkish to me). For lazy bastards - generally speaking this is biopunk (except for Softer, which is kind of horror). Stories have wide range of timeline (from near future to rather distant times), while novel is set "around the corner", just like CP2020. WIKIPEDIA sums it up nicely: Also these stories have (IMHO) much more impact on reader (especially when you have kids then Small Offerings and Pop Squad can be disturbing) than novel. TBH stories catch me more than novel (as usual), so if one have to choose between them, I recommend stories first. All in all, both are very enjoyable. Hope it helps.
  5. Morning folks. I have bought recently Paolo Bacigalupi's omnibus (polish edition) with Pump stories and Girl novel. And the verdict is:
  6. Clicky Enjoy. Foud it some time ago when Gone with the Blastweave was temporarily down. Haven't seen any of those comics here on vfte before (suprisingly).
  7. Nice collection of cyberpunk images, but where's the sound Wisdom? Where's collection of Top Ten cyberpunk albums? P.S. If you dare to not include Fear Factory's "Obsolete", then rather don't make that list P.S.S. Never heard about Natural City before - thanks for tip.
  8. Robert Adler is illustrator of STATUS 7 series, probably the best polish cyberpunk comics. Unfortunatelly it was never published in english (besides it's full of pure polish references so may be difficult to translate), yet you can taste his style: on his blog or by checking sample pages of STATUS 7: 1st 2nd 3rd 4th I really look forward to see "Dust to Dust". Cyberpunk + Robert Adler = win.
  9. Not so long ago i had an oportunity to read almost whole Sleeper by Ed Brubaker (except for Point Blank part). I must admit it was enjoyable and somehow refreshing experience (it was a while since i read whole comics serie ). Definetly worth of reading. For more info check above link (do not read Wiki - massive spoiler there).
  10. Have few boxes, play few times, same conclusions - calculator required. At least at low cost you can have source of inspiration for few CP2020 games.

    Texhnolyze

Clicky I''ve just find info about that anime, sounds interesting. On Cyberpunk Movie Meme Topic few of you folks state that seen it already. Well? 22 episodes x 24 min each makes whole lot of time to waste Is it worth?
  12. Hmm... hard to tell why exactly i love that game. There is passage in "Snow Crash" (don't remember exact text), where Hiro describes how teens used to virtually kill their families and then takes a bloody revenge ripping off those bastards who harm their beloved ones. All in mind of course. Well i was there when CP2020 polish edition hit the shelves. I've started my rpg experience with Warhammer Fantasy Role Play, it's grim and muddy world was looking very real then. Still it was fantasy. Even before polish publishing of CP2020 i was already in love with genre. "Blade Runner", "The Blood of Heroes", Aliens series and films like that cut the way to my heart for one and only king - CP2020. Yet that collage of noir mood and futuristic enviroment was something i've always want to experience, not only see or read. MaxMike made it possible. Still like WFRPG, play sometimes D&D, but run only CP2020 games.
  13. Not sure where's the problem? You need deck/comp to operate in Net. You can do it (basically) in three ways you've already point out (plugs/cables, gloves/goggles, keyboard/monitor). So depending on method you need two things - your gateway to Net (deck/comp) and connection between you and gateway (cables/gloves&goggles/keayboard&screen). Am i missing something here? Perhaps keyboard/screen should limit number of actions to max 1 action per round, gloves/goggles perhaps max 2 actions, while plugs/cables should have full spectrum (1-10). Direct connection is incomparable to standard "clicking" (at least in my - rather laic - opinion) and gloves/goggles make "clicking" faster but still waaay to slow than plugs/cable. Since whole "program vs. program" aspect is reduced to 1 roll then i belive programs as such are just modificators to roll. With that in mind just translate programs to modificators. Most of them will add modificator to just one task while others (more complex) will modificate more tasks (soulkiller for example). Don't see where problems may appear in that case. Have to try this in my games but as for now "no problems detected" Good job btw.
  14. Netrunner CCG is still living although it's hard to get it for faire price (on ebay it's mostly overpriced). Anyway - game itself is very enjoyable, both in graphical and mechanical aspects. Got myself about 1.500 cards and play with my bro from time to time. It's duel-like game - for 2 people. One takes role of netrunner and his opponent plays corporation. As you can imagine for runner goal is to steal and reveal corporate secret agendas, when corp like to see that punk dead and/or execute agendas whitout any problems. If you looking for something for entire group then try Cyberpunk CCG - also out of print, enjoyable too but requiring calculator becouse mechanics is somehow flawed - lots of things to calculate. Here you can find probably largest living site about Netrunner CCG. And here you can find lots of info about Netrunner CCG mechanics, combos, even official rules and rulings. Note that site wasn't updatet since game becomes OOP. Hope that helps.
  15. Got a thought about printing this topic. So i've checked how many pages it will be in MS Word. 277-and-half so far. CyberBear - you sir, are completely insane. Keep it up
  16. click So now you don't have to buy a game. Just visit some freakin' site and you can play QUAKE. WTF? And what next? "PLEASE, please, visit our site, for first 100 persons we have ultracool baloons. No, you don't have to buy anything..." I want my C64 back and my tape recorder and stuff. World is too crazy.
  17. I was always typing "vfte" in google when want to check out forum and it was always (if i remember correctly) first or second link (next to "Voices From The Earth" ), but for some reason, now it's not even on first page - it's near end of second page (between ""Columbia Copy & Vfte" and "The U.S. Department of Energy Computer Incident Advisory" )... What happend? EDIT: Well whatever it was, looks like Views From The Edge have highest indexing again
  18. Find it out on some polish rpg forum, but source is cyberpunkreview (at least they said it is source - can't find it on cyberpunkreview anyway). clicky Hate to make threadomancy, but since movie topic was already started and this is (supposedly) design approach for movie...
  19. While clicking from one link to another, looking for something in my coffee time between short periods of work , found this one. Now, haven't i seen this before (especially that quick summary on top right )? To Protect And Serve? Gangbook? Anyway, i love to find tips like this one - ready for use (heh, with great NPC names!) in my CP2020 Anyone has similiar "gold finds"?
  20. July 25th will be polish premiere of "Blindsight". I've never heard about the man before. Looks like he's got good press though. We'll see after 25th
  21. Something like that ^ cross my mind when i've checked IMDB... Especially note 'bout this: I can almost see Molly humming "Oops I Did It Again" in the middle of action in Villa Straylight... :/ But maybe i'm little bit sensitive becouse of AvP2 - the "Directors" of this incredibly stupid movie were also fresh full-time directors. As for crew: Case - Edward Norton (thin, short, intelligent) Molly - Zoe Bell (well Molly wasn't extremally beauty, but was killer bitch, right?) Armitage - Kurt Russel maybe? ("Soldier" anyone?) Finn - William Dafoe. Definitely. Riviera - good ol' Gary Oldman - he needs some break from Commissioner Gordon Maelcum - who cares? He's background player. As for me it can be even Henry Rollins
  22. Heh, thanks Wisdom000, but I got myself RBBB (and still forget that there are rules in it ). My idea is to make regular Netrunner CCG game instead rules-based run, with fixed decks both runner and corporation. Got myself also over 1500 Netrunner CCG cards from 1.0 to Proteuss expansion, so got wide choice
  23. Running CP2020 game with Netrunner CCG play instead of rulebook based run is old idea. Apart from it's merits and flaws Netrunner CCG itself is great fun and looks like there are people, who try to reanimate it. Here you can check new site 'bout Netrunner CCG with complete list of cards, their description and images. I've posted this link here becouse now i'm working on scenario in which netrunner will have to play in CCG with deck especially designed for this game (and of course i will be corporation ). We'll se how it works. Anyway, someone could do this same and in that case cardlist can be usefull.
  24. Thanks for this - you and Hound are keepin' CP2020 alive. One thing - there is bad link to Savefile.com under Reference Data section - it leads to "Cheap FBC 2.8" article (http://www.savefile.com/files/518362) instead of "Li'l Night Crew" (http://savefile.com/files/1343972). Nothing that c'punk could not handle with, but still there are Wilsons these days Cheers
  25. On first look is like pen&paper version of Syndicate Wars. However I've seen only preview and scenario dawnloadable from official site. Maybe I'll buy it as a sourcebook for corporate campaigne.
